Shane Burcaw (he/him) is the author of several award-winning books about disability. He is the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.
Hannah Burcaw (she/her) graduated from Carleton College, where she studied Sociology and Anthropology. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog, which has over 1,000,000 subscribers on UA-cam. Hannah has spoken at prestigious universities and Fortune 500 companies alike about the realities of ableism. On her popular Instagram account, she advocates for acceptance of all people and works to improve the way society thinks about disability.
Shane and Hannah have been together for over four years. They got married in September of 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic in their backyard, with their officiant conducting the ceremony via Zoom. Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together.

I'm so bummed! I ordered tickets to see you guys just a half hour from my house but didn't feel well enough that night to come up to Carmel (and you pronounced it correctly). I'm glad you enjoyed your time here and you're right, it is a beautiful city (with more roundabouts than any other city in the nation, literally).

I found your channel about a week ago, it was a short I clicked on. I watched it, then somehow I saw a dumb person doubting you guys, so I watched videos of yours and saw the love that Hannah shows with her eyes, the way she looks at Shane, so I looked at your playlist and saw your “wedding” and in the comments you guys pinned 100 % of the ppl were pd actors, I was shocked, upset, but I continued to watch and recognized Hannah’s mom . That’s the only thing that confused me, it had to be sarcasm by you guys! I also realized UA-cam can be very ugly , and I ran across the ugly tearing you down! I have to say I admire your love and you BOTH are sooo lucky to have each other! Stay strong ! ❤

I just saw a video about how Carmel, Indiana, as a suburb, has been working to prevent sprawl and design their city center to be people- rather than car centric. It's really neat to hear about your experience visiting!

I love Carmel too! I had surgery on my finger there and had to go back every month for 6 months and I looked forward to going every time! They have great medical care in Carmel in my opinion. So glad you loved it there too! ❤

I have family in Carmel and Muncie, ID. The second way you pronounce the town is correct way to say it.
