    The Splake/Slake is a cross breeding/hybrid of a male brook trout an a female lake trout. Scientific names are Salvelinus Fontinalis/Salvelinus Namaycush. Great looking Fish.

    You guys should head out and do a lake trout trip sometime, get some giants. But watch out cuz they're closed in many places.

      Precision Noodle for jigs and Quick Tip for spoons. Both are made by www.tunedupcustomrods.com

      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  11 років тому

      No, I think the plan is to skip Winnipeg this winter. The guys have gone there the last couple seasons and want to mix it up a bit.

    When would you want to fish 30+ feet for trout?

    • @jonshepfishing
      @jonshepfishing 7 років тому

      lake trout or splake , also depends on what the average depth is in that lake ... check out my YT i have a couple lake trout vids on there

    Did you have to use barbless hooks?

    • @benputnam894
      @benputnam894 11 років тому +1

      Not on this particular body of water Jay. It is always important to check the general and lake-specific regulations when fishing designated stream trout waters, as the regulations tend to be quite different than non-designated lakes and streams.

    James, how did you like the noodle rod for those trout?

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  11 років тому

      James used the noodle rod when fishing jigs only. It worked well. When he was fishing spoons he switched to a Quick Tip which has more backbone and a faster tip to handle the weight of the heavier baits.
