we are about to start fishing for lake trout on the Pier in St Joseph Michigan on lake Michigan. water temperature are a little high right now but soon.
This is deffinetly my favorite one of your guys shows I live in Duluth and have been ice fishing out on Lake Superior It's pretty awesome fishing out there. Nice lakers!!
Awesome episode guys...It was great meeting you guys out there (I'm Dan if you remember) Lakers are definately my new favorite species... keep up the awesome shows...
Love to see deep water from a boat, laker jigging. Obviously the lakes have to thaw first but I think jigging swim baits would be a cool show. Im in utah and im hoping some of the info would help me slay them up at flaming gorge
These guys need to work with WFN to get onto that channel I just love this show. Its nice to see a show other than the Lindners' fishing in our area of the country. Seems like its all about the southern bass and crappies that make it on tv more often than not. But we have crazy good fisheries in the Midwest that seems untapped to the rest of the country.
"In depth outdoors" you guys should try to come to Brighton Ontario for some ice fishing, there isn't that much ice on the bay yet but through out the week it is suppose to get really cold and there should be about (7" \10") inches of ice. hopefully!!
Another fantastic show James, can't wait for next weeks show! Just got a Marcum lx5, whats the best way to keep my marcum safe in the sleigh when towing behind a snowmachine.
The guys were fishing in 65' - 72' of water with most fish hitting the baits at 30' down. Several fish chased baits up to right under the ice before hitting so fish can come anywhere in the water column.
No, the IDO Pro Staff is actually very small. Everyone that appears in the shows is either an employee of IDO or an active Pro Staff member on www.idofishing.com
Weston Bich In-Depth Outdoors is always on the look out for good communicators that also happen to be skilled anglers. The combination is actually quite rare and hard to find to be honest. So if you wanted to get your foot in the door with a company like IDO the best way to start is to show you can communicate effectively on idofishing.com. If you demonstrate the ability to communicate with other anglers through fishing reports, photos, article and short videos the powers that be at IDO will come looking for you. They're always on the look out for qualified pro staff members to add to their team.
Just the fish releasing air from there air bladder so they dont get the bends and can go back down healthy, usually happens when they come from deep water
It is air being pushed out of the air-bladder. Trout, when brought up from the depths, can push out the air that builds up in their bladders, which results in a burping sound.
idontwana Depends on the year. Most years not, and when there is ice the wind can send it down the lake. I've fished in places that had "safe" ice one day and open water the next. Make sure you have a good life insurance policy.
When I caught it, We were in 80 fow and we were fishing 20 feet above bottom and a laker FLEW up and hit my bait, It was litterally on the screen for 1 second and smokedit
6:53 "Stumbled off the bus stop" lmao
that first fish was pretty fun to watch Pat catch!! Always fun to be with someone who gets excited with every fish they catch.
Amazing show James and Pat! I am looking forward to seeing next week's show!

Love the lake trout vids, you guys should do one about jigging for them, I'd like to learn more about it. As always great show, keep them coming!
Hi Hans - this show is a jigging for lakers show. If you're looking for something a little different you'll have to hit us with some more details.

You mean something like this? Jig Big Swimbaits for Lake Trout -- "In-Depth Outdoors" TV #
May have to head up there next week during spring break.

I do love that. nice. i hope i would go to that for fishing.
might have to try this spot this year
14:22 lol is no one going to mention the lamprey bite mark on that fish?
Lamprey marks on Lake trout in Lake Superior are very common.
You guys should come and do a show up here on Lake Simcoe, Ontario, if you want consistent action with 15 lb+ greasers :)
Another fantastic show James, can't wait for next weeks show! Just got a Marcum lx5, whats the best way to keep my marcum safe in the sleigh when towing behind a snowmachine.
It takes a minesota native to dip his bare hand in freezing water without wincing. This video makes me want to go ice fishing!
Still water doesn't get below 32f
😆 Im an Illinois native and my hands dont get cold in winter. Bare hand grab fish and bait tip ups all day til my snot in my nose freezes
You're our kind of people!
@@JimHerbertOutdoors Illinois native here as well and I’ll second that all day.
What rod and reel do you guys use?
"Eatin' good in the neighborhood" haha. why James? i manage an Applebee's. Good stuff.
Fun show! How deep were the fish usually biting at?
The guys were fishing in 65' - 72' of water with most fish hitting the baits at 30' down. Several fish chased baits up to right under the ice before hitting so fish can come anywhere in the water column.
When are you guys coming to detroit
I caught my first Laker today. 24" 4 1/2lbs
are you able to keep any lake trout?
How thick is the ice?
It "was" 12" - 18" on the day the show was filmed. Things change out there daily so be sure to call Marine General for the latest on ice conditions.
I know I probably won’t get a response but where did they enter the lake? Is there a good parking lot? What business was near the entrance?
Looks like Leif Ericson park. Free parking
How do people get on these shows? Isn't the Pro staff pretty big?
No, the IDO Pro Staff is actually very small. Everyone that appears in the shows is either an employee of IDO or an active Pro Staff member on www.idofishing.com
So if someone wanted to get a part of something like IDO or any other organization like it, how would they do that? I'm just super curious.

How many days does it usually take for you to film each episode
im from minnesota and the ice that they are on is atleast 1 foot in depth.
jAMES WHAT BRAND OF BIBS ARE YOU WEARING
James is wearing Strikemaster bibs.
That spot where they are fishing is not always froze, easy spot to get to but you have to really know the conditions.
What is that burping sound coming out of those lake trout?
Just the fish releasing air from there air bladder so they dont get the bends and can go back down healthy, usually happens when they come from deep water
It is air being pushed out of the air-bladder. Trout, when brought up from the depths, can push out the air that builds up in their bladders, which results in a burping sound.
So you can always Ice fish this area????

Any one know what a good lake trout ice fishing rod would be
They said they were using 42 inch heavy action rods.
When I caught it, We were in 80 fow and we were fishing 20 feet above bottom and a laker FLEW up and hit my bait, It was litterally on the screen for 1 second and smokedit
I wish I can be with you guys
if you catch a fish though the hole you relies the same hole will you catch the same one
Put the meth pipe down bruh
I'm in Duluth right now but I'm skiing not fishing :(
I think you shows are really great , but playing music while people are talking is really distracting!
... I came...
i would love to meat you guy's
don't you guys know how to handle the fish? .keep your hands out of the gills, those fish you released are dead.
I'm guessing they know what they're doing since their pro anglers and their on a popular TV show...
Hahahahaha You can handle almost any inland freshwater fish by the gills buddy theyre just fine
