The problem with this design is that the general public is still 3 generations behind, as proven by the multitude of comments asking for BMW to return to older designs. This is a concept that leaps a generation ahead of the competition's *upcoming* concepts. It is a revolutionary approach vs the competition's evolutionary approach (see VW's ID.GTi), and will take time for most people to adjust and appreciate. But for those that are excited about the future, this is a beautifully designed car. Every element is being reduced to their core purpose, yet still distinctly BMW. Incredible execution that just needs everyone else to catch up.
Love the look- can’t wait to see the final iteration.
I really respect BMW’s bravery. They always seem to reinvent themselves every couple of generations, unlike the same constant evolution from Mercedes and Audi

Fun video,. Great job Daniel. Love your giving us the head of BMW’s design interview presentation up front. You provided us a ton of good information in a historical and factual way but with your personal enthusiasm intertwined. Great combination.
It's sad to see some of the negative comments relating to this BMW concept. I acknowledge that we all have different tastes but this is a CONCEPT!!! It will never be put into production, most of the ideas as included here in the concept would be too expensive for a production model (I was a production engineer working in the automotive industry). What this concept is, is a "design sketch" of what might be possible in the future. It's a platform to demonstrate how BMW designers are thinking for the future. It does not bare thinking about what cars from the 50's, 60's, 70's etc. would look like today if designers didn't produce concepts. We would all be driving FJ Holdens or Austin A40's.
One of their designers was quoted that 90% of what was displayed will be in the production model. This is basically a soft launch.
