I guess totally drivetrain dependent but for the average car (which this video takes into account I assume) yeah I think the assessments made in the video are very fair
I like how the bulk of the retro tracks are possible on account of them being from a game where everything is completely flat. Super circuit walked so ds could run
love how you say "the car wouldnt survive" as if these were remotely controlled and there isnt an actual human with feelings driving it that would be brutally crushed
Most courses in the special cup: *This will kill both your car and you.* Peach Gardens: You mess up Peach's pretty flowers by driving through them :( In conclusion, Peach Gardens is the most impossible course seen yet.
for the dk snowy mountain, isn't there a way to go around the last big jump? Because in the missions of the game (concept that nintendo should put in the next mario kart) you have a race against DK where you have to do the track in reverse, and it was possible to climb up the big hill, so i wonder if you go slow, maybe you could pass this hills without a jump. But for all the other tracks I agree, and it's funny to see that this many tracks pass
I'm one of very few people who love Desert Hills, and I kinda like the simple name. It tells you exactly what it is so it doesn't overdo your expectations. The SMB 3 aesthetic of the track is also nice.
I like Desert Hills too! When I was younger I played around in it on Mario Kart DS to watch what Angry Sun would do. When I got Mario Kart Wii I was excited to see it again.
I don’t love it but it definitely gets too much hate, it also has the curse of being much better in Wii even though there’s no reason to play it when dry dry ruins exists
Suggestion for future videos: Instead of just showing the tally at the end, show a thumbnail of each course, sorted by cup, graying out the ones that are impossible. This way we can easily see both the cup distribution and have a functioning overview of all the possible/impossible tracks in a single image.
I wonder how something like a dune buggy would fare with the tracks that have big jumps. They’re designed for launching over sand dunes, but different surfaces might still do some damage.
the jumps in ticktock clock just look like the speedbumps at my college 😭 id have to check but i genuinely think i have some minor scuffs on the bottom of my bumper and there's marks on the concrete from one particular one
Regular cars can actually take loops at surprisingly reasonable speeds, you just don't tend to see them because very few countries choose to build them into their roads
There are 8 tracks you can’t do a backwards lap on: Cheep Cheep Beach Waluigi Pinball Tick Tock Clock Airship Fortress Bowser’s Castle 2 GCN Luigi Circuit N64 Frappe Snowland GBA Bowser Castle 2
I've also always wondered what kind of material the Rainbow Roads in Mario Kart are actually made of. If it's really just light split into its own colors then it would definitely be impossible to drive on it as you can't drive on light. And you cannot stand on clouds either as they are basically gas.
Are we assuming like a normal sedan and not including off-road vehicles like a rally car (that can totally make some jumps)? Does normal car mean Toyota Corolla?
A lot of the tracks that you said would be possible, I think would require something like a rally car to not get totalled by the jumps. So I think you should just admit that the standard isn't, "regular road car," but rather, "any real car," and by that metric, Rainbow Road DS is probably possible. You'd need the speed and downforce of an F1 car for the loop and corkscrew, _and_ the suspension of a rally car for the big drop, but I think it'd be possible to build a car that could do both. Maybe have the driver be able to adjust the angle of the wing while driving, etc.
- Not a single lava track would be possible. In cartoon world, lava is only hot when touched, but in real life it radiates enough heat to disable, melt, and overheat many common car components. - This also applies to track hazards like fireballs. While you could git gud dodge them, you'd need to give them an extremely wide dodge to avoid all heat. It would also be generally undesirable to drive a car full of petrol near an open flame. Technically possible, but never done outside meticulously safety controlled stunt driving.
One thing I just thought: What would happen if a real life car hit an Item box? It doesn't have an open roof like a kart, so I don't see any way that they could work IRL
What if the item boxes are just holograms over a sensor that reacts to the kart. Like if the karts normally have all items already built in and the item boxes just short-term release the lock in the kart that prevented it from being used before. (Hence why they react to each kart differently depending on what place they are in.)
Thanks! I think when i do all of the games ill have them all at the end of the last video of the series and go over them and it would be a nice wrap up to the whole thing.
Cheap cheap beach just need smaller ramps at the start. Also, have you watched rally in real life ? Cars make jumps like those you don't deem possible on DK pass for exemple and even longer jumps. Yes even a ski style jump can be possible, specially a very small one like on DK pass at the end. So basically all the tracks you ruled out just for that, they are in fact possible to drive with real life cars. WRC cars aren't that differents than normal car, just a bit upgraded for suspensions and motors. Take a look at promotional videos of the Lancer Evo 9 or X, they made this car go sking and it was a normal everyday car, not one built specifically for that sort of thing.
I think it's a cool thing to examine, but the way you did it is a bit odd to me. You judge tracks based on them being drivable by normal cars, when in real life formula 1 cars drive on special race courses. Same goes for rally, drag, throphy, etc. The cars are made for the type of track, so the only tracks that wouldn't be possible would be ones that go underwater or upside down. ( don't think underwater tracks are in the game though, but just as a whole. ) Tracks that have big jumps could be done with throphy trucks, tracks with a lot of mud could be done by rally vehicles, and more. I think that would've been a more fair comparison. Still a good watch though.
Am i the only 1 who refuses to call the Switch version of Tick Tock Clock a remake of TTC? IMO they ruined the track by turning it into a grandfather's Clock instead of keeping the quirky, colorful Clock IT SHOULD BE. i would gladly take a mod for MK8D that turns TTC into it's former self

In real life, none of the lava-based courses wouldn’t be possible since you’d be burnt to a crisp from the heat emanating from it.
But what if your car had *really* good A/C?
Your car might even explode in heat like that
Well, the track recreated IRL would probably not have lava in the first place.
In Luigi's mansion you ignore that you drive up stairs at the entrance
That would be uncomfortable but certainly not impossible
A jeep could do that

Now I want these tracks to be ported to something like BeamNG and see what the actual possible ways to beat most of these tracks would be
I like how you are concerned about the car but not the driver
How he should
Drivers can be replaced but a broken car costs money to fix.
The Mario Kart 7 video is about to be insane
I wonder how something like a dune buggy would fare with the tracks that have big jumps. They’re designed for launching over sand dunes, but different surfaces might still do some damage.
I love your videos, very entertaining and interesting to see which courses could be done by a real car!
Rally cars/rallycross cars can easily get through the different terrains, maybe even some of the jumps as well

luigi's mansion? you mean boston building?
Get this guy outta here
Yoshi's Circuit is such an odd track to end the game compared to the other Lightning Cups.
Idk if anyone has said this yet but I think DK has a lot of snow courses because of yeti vibes.
