Gotta love the 70's disaster movies. Has-been actors, new actors, heavy exposition dialogue, and heavy disaster deaths.
They're all bloody awful. But I remember enjoying a miniseries from the 80s or 90s inspired by the Poseidon adventure - about a bunch of people who'd been living in a sunken upturned ship for years.
It's not like Boxcar Bertha was that many years before this, and Cagney and Lacey was still in Barry Primus' future.
Oh, come on! I still choke up a bit at Paul Newman saying to Steve McQueen "I'm asking" at the end of The Towering Inferno.
@@ThreadBomb for the time that sounds like it must have came out pretty bad lol but the premise does have a pretty interesting sound to it. I might have to see if i can find this later too check out a little.

I honestly think this is funnier than the new season of MST3K.
Jonah does an okay job, but nobody can replace Mike. And the new girl can't hold a candle to Pearl. Just my own subjective opinion, though.
Probably my 2nd favorite after the Bigfoot one. It's interesting that they had to trim so many scenes. I want to see that snowmobile race now.

Avalanche is my favorite from the new MST3K. Now I need to watch the non riffed version. Good call on this. Please do more crap disaster flicks.

My friend... I said it once and I will say it again. You should star in MST3K. I saw the episode they did on this movie and it was funny as all hell. But not nearly as funny as 5 minutes of you riffing on this masterpiece. So go now. Get yourself a robot body and bring joy to the world.
He could be Cecil, the post-apocalyptic cowboy cyborg android robot from the planet X90667 from the year 2037...
Because who needs logic? :P (but seriously though, I 100% agree with joining MST3K)

Arent there already movies that use CGI snow by Asylum on SyFy in either disaster or monster movies.
I never thought that both Mia Farrow and Rock Hudson ever starred in a New World picture lmao, LOL at flaming diabetes, and Sunny Bono joke lmao, I never once heard about this movie, great video!

This film looks surprisingly interesting. And depending on the timing and how it's done, CGI snow could work.
You should review Blood Creek with Michael Fassbender and Henry Cavill. Excellent and underrated horror film.
That snow didn't need to be color corrected. It was yellow for a reason.

I remember this movie from the days when the Sunday newspapers ran full-sized movie ads and movies like this would have thumbnail-sized ads without production credits on Wednesday. For some reason, I'd always assumed this movie only had stock avalanche footage. I'd say it was gutsy to kill off the mother like they did, but then I remembered Jennifer Jones getting it in The Towering Inferno.
The was the worst ambulance ever. Bad driving caused the death of the old lady.

This film does have one of the coolest posters ever, no pun intended. Roger Corman knows how to sell a film with poster art.

Popcorn ceilings were the jam back in the 60s and 70s. I have no idea why.
The ambulance scene always gets me. I mean just... why? The dude was trying out for WRC.
That's exactly what parenting was like in the 70's. My parents had an MG Midget, which only had 2 seats, and I used to ride in the luggage space behind them.
That 70s was a weird time.

Avalanche is the greatest Roger Corman movie since War of the Satellites.
It's interesting that disaster movies almost invariably have a star studded cast, even if they're produced by Roger Corman. The ultimate example must be "The towering inferno", that has a cast that's like a who's who of Hollywood.
