5:56 "NOOOOOPE!"
LOL! I love that bit! 😆
I know I'm super late to this party, but I finally just watched this movie for the first time tonight and I recalled you covered it. I'm so glad you did as you and I see 100% eye-to-eye on this. And as much as I love ALLLLLLL of your videos, this one was one of the funniest you've done. Thank you so much for doing these.
Thanks for watching :)
The best part of waking up is gross bugs in your cup.
+Moonbeam Lol
Moonbeam lol i fucking sang this with the tune of the Folger's song hahahaha
R.J. Macasa
I was picturing that old commercial, where the dude comes home and wakes the fam with coffee brewing. All replaced with roaches, and that dude being half eaten, when the little girl gets downstairs.
🐜 🐛
The premise is almost like Mimic, another good roach creature flick!
I remember that one
I have never found another channel that has an illness-like appreciation for movies. Cecil, your channel is awesome.
+Ryan Daniel Thank you for appreciating my illness lol :)
"I'm sad Lily is dead....but now I don't have to break up with her."
It's for the best. HAHA!!!!!!!! Shit, thats harsh!!!!
It's like the characters don't know cockroaches can survive virtually everything, perhaps even a nuke.
Nope nope nope. Roaches nope
Ok I know this was about 3 years old when I posted but I have to say I agree 100% with your cockroach policy. I see one in my apartment and I stay up until I can empty a can of mortein in its face. By stay up I mean 4 or 5 hours until 3 am just waiting for it to crawl out so I can kill it and never, ever assume its dead if I haven't disposed of the body.
Looks like a fun film.
*There's not enough napalm!*
4:31
"OK.....she's a lunatic." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
What's funny is that there is actually a movie I saw back in 2000 on TV called _They_ _Nest_, also about killer cockroaches.
"Homer brings a bottle of his best piss over to see Jake...." again, you made me lol. and almost spray my own piss all over my studio. :) Great job.
Love your channel man, between the 'Exploring' videos and these reviews, it doesn't even matter if it's a movie I've never heard of, I will always tune in! Keep up the great work.
+Logan Hedrich Same here dude.
Anyone else notice the obvious similarities between the Mayor-Roach's final scene and that of Brundlefly?
Yes. Yes, I did.
I swear to cheese man. I find a new video every time I drunk watch an old video. I know for a fact that I've watched them, but they always feel fresh and entertaining when I watch them. I love your stuff man. Really underrated material.
12:24 Yes thank you for putting that clip in there that one always cracked me up a lot LOL.
Another slamming episode Cecil I never minded this film I thought its a fun little killer bugs flick that has some cool old school F/X!
At first I thought you were gonna talk about "They Nest" from 2000 with Dean Stockwell, but now I even have one more movie I need to watch, it seems. Thanks a lot!
they nest/ creepy crawlers
is more spiritual sequel for the nest
but the nest has more gruesome and have more cool sfx
Love the amount of content coming out!
The better comeuppance would have been her being eaten by the roach-cat.
Poor kitty....
also, I fucking love this channel, you cover all kinds of cheesy monster/horror flicks Ive never heard of XD
Keep up the good work man
6:52 Bobby Jimmy! Hadn't heard that song in years. Thanks for taking me back!
"digging through a box of exposition" lol
Franc Luz, I''ve always remembered from Ghost Town, where he also played sheriff, but this time he was fighting ghost-bandits in the Old West.
This was one of the best episodes. You should be on Screen Junkies Movies Fights!
At the beginning of this I was like: oh come on, roaches aren't worse than all the other critters ... now at the end - yikessssssssssssssssssss. *runsforthehills*
I don't mind roaches as much as spiders a spider crawled onto my hand once I screamed like a girl then wept like one when my dad wouldn't get it off me so I used the box with his ipad in it as a club to kill it
I saw this when I was a kid. tbh, it's made me terrified of roaches. I am now 44, and when I see a roach, it dies. and soon after I am talking with management to get exterminators out:-)
6:23, That is the most creepyist thing, I ever saw, in my life!😨
The worst part about roaches is that they just won't die!!! Did you know, a roach can live up to nine days without its head?
Michael Wolfe did you also know that a can of axe spray and a lighter is a flamethrower
Glad I tend to stomp them when I see them.
Have you seen Kingdom of the Spiders? *Shudder*
terrifying, so many real tarantulas
brandon meacham bugs OK /spiders is of the devil.
Not bad for a movie with a library soundtrack.
GoodBadFlicks Kingdom of spiders scared me! Jeff the spider from grim adventures of billy and mandy and growing up with creepie and honey we shrunk our selves kind of got rid of my fear of spiders and bugs..I did see a beautiful green yellow golden spider at my cousin's house in his backyard during a summer bbq this last summer I named it Kakyoin. I actually like spiders they kill roaches . I also like ants
The "UnGodly monstrosity at the end" reminds me of Nito from Dark Souls.
Yeah with some tweaks I think it'd be right at home in a Souls game. It's actually quite creepier than Nito.
Fleshing eating mutating roaches, very interesting and a nope.
I need to check this out sometime.Hey I would recommend Lavantula if you enjoy giant arachnid movies. Its alot of fun and has a stellar cast.
sometimes I forget roaches are omnivorous. Gotta stomp 'em all!
0:19 NEARLY GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO PUNCH MY COMPUTER SCREEN!
There is a movie that was apart of the show Project Greenlight which was a show where new writers, directors, actors would be competing to have Ben Afleck and Matt Damon produce a movie that the new writers wrote. The movie I'm talking about is called "Feast" I have it and it's really good and got two direct to DVD sequels www.imdb.com/title/tt0426459/
The beautiful roaches, the beautiful roaches.
Oh god roaches. I've always hated them ever since I found one in a burger I was about to eat. I was 5 at the time.
I love the jokes in this video. "It's the grandmother from Dante's Peak all over again." Even though this came first. Lol.
Also, you mentioned Homer and Simpson, but you missed Dr. Hubbard, which sounds suspiciously like Dr. Hibbert.
This movie was the best of a bad batch of horror films that came out around this time. And I saw every one of them that came to town. The Offspring, The Outing and Spookies are just a few of the Good Bad Flicks that arrived in the late 80s. There were some real turds that were around back then. Like I said, best of a bad batch.
Thanks!

I ate at a Dairy Queen one day and as I went to refill my soda before leaving I noticed a whole swarm of tiny baby cockroaches all over the soda nozzles. As you can imagine I never returned to a Dairy Queen. I just wish I had noticed them BEFORE I ate lunch.
Did you notify DQ about the infestation?
Fenix Minerva I told them about it at the counter but it was all high schoolers working there and I don't think they knew that the tiny cockroaches outside the dispenser probably meant that the inside of it was infested. I feel for the person they sent over to tackle that machine.
back when i studied biochem we had to dissect roaches under a stereoscope....fascinating critters
I don't think I could handle that lol
between roaches and human cadavers I'll take roaches any day :)
Great 80s cheese that's surprisingly quite gory for a killer roaches movie. I missed it during VHS era, so I first time I've seen it was few years back when it was released on DVD\BLR combo.
An entertaining roach infestation film with good monster effects at the end.
I went through a phase where I found roaches very fascinating, when I was really interested in insects as a whole, but now I do find them extremely disgusting. They are so many steps up the squeamish ladder from ants.
Also, I thought that you'd really appreciate its dark, moody, and gritty realistic tone, especially considering that it's animated. It's a great, deep, depressingly beaughtiful film that more people need to at least be more aware of. Sorry about all the dialogue, I've just been meaning to comment about this movie to you for a while now since I've seen practically all of your videos and all. Thanks for hearing out my request anyways. Peace Out.
Man, those are some juicy effects
So glad the uk doesn't get roaches
Jake Driver Really? I'm moving there then.
Jake Driver I need to pay a visit, need a vacation from them.
Jake Driver Same in Iceland, glad we don't have that perticular problem
Jake Driver Plenty of bed bugs here, though. They are much worse.
Are you gonna review The Beastmaster(1982)?
This is absolutely one of my favorite GBF videos. Which is weird because I HATE and fear roaches, but I really like this video.😊😁😡😱😆
Thanks! :)
Lol when the mayor slipped on his eye XD
Turns 35!
I remember watching this 8 years ago and found it the right amount of fun
It's one of many creature features about a select group of creepy crawlers that unleash carnage on a community of people
Director Terence H. Winkless adapts the 1980 novel by Eli Cantor from the late Roger Corman's film company
They do specialize in this kind of horror filmmaking
It's a bit odd that the image on the poster (nothing like that ever shows up in the movie)
We spend a lot of time with these humans and then discussing things back and forth
It's only after 68 minutes things really start going crazy, much of this gets to the point although briskly paced
The roaches are nightmare fuel for anyone that can't stand these disgusting creatures
Thankfully there's lots of body carnage they leave behind particularly with a cat hybrid and a memorable human-roach life form
But the real treat is seeing the queen roach herself merged into a gory, monstrosity at the climax
Some very good use of horrific practical effects
This movie shows how horrific science messing with Mother Nature can be
No masterpiece by any means but it does its job being very straightforward and that's enough
6:53 ROFL!
Cool vid Cecil. I abhor insects as well. Also, do you plan on making more gaming related videos?
darko853 Yep, working on Clive Barker's Jericho as well as part 3 of Monstrum.
fun fact: one of the members of the crew, Rinka Asher, is also the director of the superhero satire film, Mystery Men
sorry I got the name wrong his name is Rinka Usher
the thing about cockroaches is that they communicate to each other through their shit's smell. the more they shit in a place, the more others will come, cause it's like a "this place is safe" sign. so even if you call an exterminator, they will still show up for some time after, because although the nests are destroyed, the smell of shit is still there.
they will stop showing up eventually, but only if you kill these last ones, give the place a really good cleaning and don't freak out, or they will build new nests, and from there is cockroach hell all over again.
that's why they got out of control in this film's production. just something i wanted to share ahaha, you're welcome.
Gah!
A film that will keep anyone awake at night +__+
The movie started out tame, became unsettling and near the end I was VERY uncomfortable watching it...
It's not a bad movie, but it's hard to watch the whole thing and not have 'problems' afterwards. Took me a few days to not jump at every single insect I saw :/
Fish-a-wack ? What's that ? Sounds very Monty Pythonesque.
The sad part is that the largest roaches are the cleanest insects you can own.
Nobody talking about how the same guy who played Bingo in The Banana Splits made this film? No just me?
with the right writing, budget, and effects this could have been a good David Cronenberg film
The librarian looks like Glenn Shadix in drag. :P
i personally love arachnids and other insects.
arachnids and insects. arachnids are not part of the insect class
Well, roaches aren't that bad, they can't even bite ya.
nazis can't bite you either. it doesn't make them good
guillermo herrera Roaches can't shoot you either.
nexus prime wake up sheep, the goverment has been hiding the fact that roaches can and most likely will shoot you
The cover art for the Nest was too good. I would always avoid it. Now I got to look for it. :-D
Thanks Cecil, I've been having bug related nightmares for the past week
I share your roach phobia. It borders on paralyzing fear. And I share your love of killer bug movies. The last segment of "Creepshow" is one of my favorites!
Roaches are beetles. Beetles are friends. Wasps are the true enemy.
The Mayor's transformation has a healthy dose of Brundlefly in its genes...
These same roaches were the great-great-great-great-etc. grandparents, to the Joe's Apartment Roach actors.
*Dammit! You made a Joe's Apartment reference.
It must be a nice feeling to know you've made 52,188 people chuckle while watching roaches - me I just laughed out loud! A first for youtube! Keep it up!
I looked at the VHS many times because of the cover art, never felt the need to rent it.
I think it's a natural thing to seek out and learn about things that freak us out. I don't like spiders or sharks, but boy do I like reading about them.
The practical effects look pretty neat-o, at least. Though Mimic pulled this entire general idea off much, much better lol.
The insect that I hate more than roaches are potato bugs
Lol I don't remember the last time a movie allowed the protagonist to cheat on their SO and basically brush it off like that.
GoodBadFlicks Hi, Cecil! Quick question, unrelated to The Nest. Have you seen the 1980's nature docudrama "The Bear"? If so, what did you think of it? And would you do a review of it? Thanks for ALL you do! XD
I love your list of non-bug related movies!
Great video cecil, you should do THEY nest next time it's about mutated cockroaches as well. Watched it when i was a kid, made me really paranoid
0:15
I can deal with all insects and arachnids and bugs -- etc. Hell! I love spiders! They're the bomb! However, I have the worst phobia of ants. I can't STAND them! I was tramatized as a kid when I stepped on ant hill in my grandparents back yard. They had really REALLY bad ants and my grandfather ran and picked me up before a lot could get on me... He has scars from the ant bites O___O Yeah, Hate ants!
Cynthia King I actually like ants..But I don't like hornets though...
The number of roaches in the film is probably half that of the ones in my school.
6:26 I have the exact same floor tiles
that "evil smart roaches" episode of the X-Files is one of the best though.
Cecil, did you enjoy Mimic? I believe you talk about it on here.
wearing pink before the pink ranger made it hot
and then we got Pickle Rick,.. whom quickly evolved from roach parts to mice lol
Joe's Apartment is why I can't eat corn flakes
Holy crap! This looks like a good movie!😊
It is!
Great video man! You should totally do a video for kingdom of the spiders, that does for spiders what this does for roaches
Oh ok. I thought this was about that other movie called "The Nest." That movie was pretty dope, too. Except, it was an action film about a heist gone wrong, instead of a prequel to Terra Formars.
* sees a Roach crawl up the wall while watching this review *. 0_0. * calls exterminator *
Now if it was Alaska, the fish festival would make sense. No joke
I miss living there. :(
I wonder if some of these roaches got a job in Joe's apartment.
The Nest and Mimic share some similarities in terms of story and plot. Both involve stories centering around genetically engineered cockroaches created by scientists to eradicate some disease or plague. The cockroaches in both films evolve to imitate their prey. Both films feature a slow reveal of said bugs, with larger and larger victims being found. Both have a female leading character scientist who had a hand in engineering the very bug they now are forced to stop. And both have an assortment of fogettable male characters who are just menu items for the roach buffet!
I remember Charles Dutton as the wounded transit cop singing a spiritual as he sacrifices himself so that the roaches don't get out of the subway, Josh Brolin's death scene with the old sewing machine, and appreciating that the characters were willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. So I don't think the male characters were any more forgettable than Mira Sorvino's character.
THIS IS A PREQUEL TO
MIMIC
Great here I am with a roach problem watching this
Now I feel itchy.
Can't get enough of bugs Cecil ?time to review the giant spider invasion.
"I owe you one sex. XOXO"
Bwahahaha
Ha, I just had spam and eggs for breakfast. Hawaiian breakfast is the best.
