i think every time a new track comes out that he’s somehow exhausted all his innovations, that he couldn’t *possibly* get any better, because he’s already reached such a high peak. i think to myself, there’s no way he could invent yet another technique.. and then as always goosebumps cascade down my skin, and i am absolutely floored! he is a master of his craft

Seeing the videos on this channel made me interested in bass sax and was considering getting one for months. Finally made the plunge, and I've had it for about a week now. It's incredibly fun to play!

I want a bass sax or tubax so bad man it's my dream
My main experiences with the instrument was back at the height of Ska, a fair number of bands had bass Sax in place of bass guitar. The thing really pushes air into the crowd, even as a small PA pushes the rest of the instruments, you can feel the player’s breath going into your chest
@The_CGA that sounds amazing! It makes sense that it would work in that setting and must have been so much fun for both the bands and audiences.
I would love to use it in a collaborative setting, too, someday
I have put a ton of thought into the settings I would LOVE to play bass/contrabass sax in. Carrying the low end with a tuba in a brass band would be SO cool to me. Bass sax in a prog rock band like Thank You Scientist also seems like it would be extremely fun.

Amazed but not surprised he's finding new ways to push the saxophone. How legends are forged. Slowly but undeniably.
Mr. Stetson truly makes you think about what music is and what it can be. No one on the planet has a sound like his. He is one of a kind. The way he sings through the sax and uses microphones as a percussion is so damn innovative.
My god, 13 years ago a 21 year old me listened the crap out of New History Warfare Vol. 2, loved that one! Now I can share this with the kids 4 and 6 years old :)
No matter what, Colin Stetson continues to push and refine his style of music.

A true master of his instrument. It always amaces me that he is able to create new sounds from and instrument, and then make some of the most emotionals songs of this century.

There is a rumour that whales have actually heard him play and think he is one of them. Before I forget, it's not possible to play a bass sax the way he does. Well, this sounds erroneous, because he plays it, but it's practically not possible. Believe me.
