The guitar scale every guitarists should learn - How to play the Major scale on guitar. All guitarists should know this guitar scale - the Major scale, which is also sometimes called the Ionian scale.
In this guitar lesson you learn how to play 3 different variations of the major scale in 2 different keys G major and C major, and I explain why it is so important to learn the major scale. The 3 different scales go in difficulty from absolute beginners through to advanced guitar player.

This guitar lesson appears in several short course playlists on my channel because it is absolutely essential for learning and understanding guitar theory. Without learning this guitar scale you will never understand key signatures, modes, chord theory or the theory of writing your own music as well as much more useful guitar knowledge. More importantly you'll never be able to play guitar solos to your full potential. The major scale can be considered to be the DNA of western music and many other scales are derived from it.
    00:00 introduction
01:27 how to play the one octave G major scale
06:01 how to play the two octave C major scale
11:35 how to play an alternative C major scale

20:47 Why the major scale is so important
To help you fully understand this lesson you might want to also watch the guitar lessons on how to memorize the names of the notes on the guitar and understanding octaves, so here are links to the guitar lessons to teach you these subjects.

Your method for beginners is excellent in the respect that you explain at at a reasonably slow pace. Your method of moving your fingers out of the way so one can see which finger you are using on which fret and string is also extremely helpful. As good as some instructors are on UA-cam, they frequently move very fast and you can’t always tell which finger is is pressing which fret. Also, your tabs and diagrams are helpful. Thanks.

I've learned the penatonic scales a 3/7 of the modes and I've come across two other scale diagrams and now these.
