Getting a bit older I struggle to move some of the boxes let alone carry them any distance I know a barrow helps but over hilly or dirt track terrain they add to the burden I currently use a very adaptable matrix s25 a good mix of stability plenty accessories and not unreasonably heavy
Interesting idea to look at the pro's and con's of different boxes though I'm sure most of us would struggle to convince the wife that you need to change it every year.I've had my MAP Z30 for a few years with none of the negatives experienced in some of those mentioned so fully expect it to last a few more years.Fully agree with your observations on box weights being largely irrelevant with all the gear we load in them.
Great honest review especially speaking from experience. I have had loads of boxes over the years and currently a Matrix S25. Prefer smaller boxes which do not weigh a tonne. Tempted by a Guru Rive Stealth or a Preston Inception SL30 so I get 30mm legs but still quite lightweight
I Have the same box . The thing I like about my box is the legs. Allmost and I mean allmost any manufacturers of accessories fit my box. So I don't have to buy top end with top end prices. This 36m legs is just a con. It's a money making spin. And they all are a ton weight. A box is for one person to sit on not twelve people at once . Dawia used 25mm round legs for donkeys years even on ther high end boxes. Did they snap ? No ..people for for these 36m legs and there is no need atal . I would bet ther is not one person whom could give me a valid real reason why anyone would NEED 36m legs . Not one single person .
Great review. I have box with similar design than matrix it's named Jaxon Pro Match Chellenge 36 and the minus is weight but the foot plate is big and comfortable. And thx God we don't have total lockdown.
I've now got the garbo 36-71 black. what a box. this sorts the deeper drawer problem but not the seat which is still an issue. removed mine and put a custom seat on and don't think i'm ever changing my box again !
Good video! I've had the same box for a few years now (Preston Space Station) and time for a new one. Ah the days of my first box, the plastic Shakespeare box (in grey) was so much easier haha
Top notch reviews. It's the first time I've seen comparison reviews of items used and abused in this form. Nice one Ben. Keep up the good work mate. I'm dragged into suffering with PTSD, and clinical depression.
It's nice to hear people mention mental health, I suffer with mental health all because of my illness and have been stuck in doors since first lockdown, so thanks.. Gazza
Excellent down to earth video Ben. I find weight is my biggest issue now, I have the Matrix S25 which is a bit heavy. The frame is strong but have to admit I would go for 30 or 36mm diameter legs now. Rather than add more trays and cassettes I now carry a Preston Competition luggage hold-all now for food, reel, box of wagglers, a few feeders, clothes and food. I carry my bait in a carp type cool bag seems to work ok for me. If I want to carry more pole rigs I have a decent sized plastic sealing foot tub seems to work ok. Hopefully soon one of companies might put out a realistically priced reinforced carbon fibre seat box. One of my early seatboxes was mostly made from fibreglass, maybe this material could be incorporated into a modern seatbox. Whatever way I go I still need a four wheel trolley unless we can drive to our pegs and park up!
I have the same problem (Pinching) on my current Box the Trabucco GNT X which is 3 years old. Otherwise a grear box with amazing options available. Now looking at the MK Quattro Formula Viper in Red,. Great show by the way.
Also looking at the Matrix XR36 Pro LIME.Mainly because of the "H" Frame. Looking forward to hearing of your experience of your New Box as and when you use it.
With the matrix box mate - i use the matrix back seat that turns, what you do is take off the spinning seat and then move the box to your peg and it is so much lighter its untrue. I spose you could do the same with the backless flat seat. So take the seat off, lift box to your peg then put the seat back on.
Yes Chef 👌🏻 Another positive for the Daiwa Tournament 500 is the front drawer can be used as a very good bread box/punch tray as it's near enough airtight. Simply the Bread 🍞
got fisrt box of facebook market place 60 pound to get me back in to fishing then got the cheap Avanti RDX 2000 with the goodies that comes that comes with it wheels side tray this was a great set up for little money but the legs let me down one slipdown as packing away so went to the big boy Matrix S36 Superbox Black Edition Seatbox round the 400 mark dint want to buy all new add ons so adapted what i got (i dont think ive got hight right as when im on for a few hours when i try to get up my legs lock up making me fell like im going in )think its my size more than the box
Did you see the guy on Facebook Ben.. who carbon wrapped his seatbox legs on his matrix box..the same wrap they use on cars..it looked quality..and transformed his box..
Nice video. I've just got the Matrix S25 seat box. Not had it out yet as my local waters have been frozen. I'm yet to buy a side tray.........I still use a Drennan bait waiter so I'm looking at a Matrix self-supporting one but unsure of what size.
Hi great videos Can you do one on using a margin pole for your main pole not just for margin fishing but fishing lighter for small carp silver lighter elastics and match top kits I`m certainly going to go down this road can`t see any point of buying a long pole and not using most of it and i have in the past any distance i have the feeder rods out and i do I`ve won a lot of matches doing this unless you`re going to pay a lot money for a pole this is far easier and more effective to use a margin pole and feeder rod.
Ben love your videos I would like to see you fishing in some match fishing and you're plan with what bait you use and see your feeder rigs or pole or waggler set up you would use I'm thinking of going in some match fishing when lockdown over
Hey, Just wondered what your thoughts are on the MAP Z36-ELITE? An what you think about the MATRIX XR36 COMP? Torn between these two and the MATRIX S36 Cheers
Each box you've had served its purpose at the time but I think the matrix box will turn out to be the best you've had. I just don't think there's a better box on the market right now.thats my opinion you might think different I'm going to buy a new box been looking for a couple of weeks checking prices and deals and I ain't seen nothing as good as the matrix box.
I think I'll end up with matrix box I'm a big chap so my maver box has had a hard life I need a bit of comfort in my old age keep the vlogs coming Ben they're a real god send to a lot of people who are in lockdown keep up the good work
Hi Ben hopefully you’ll see this message.question please.how much did you pay for the Preston box. And how much did you get for it.when sold. I should have asked.when I first watch this video.but I’m considering buying one. Thanks again 🎣
nice to but second hand not much out their at the moment. the matrix was a great deal £60 cheaper than i had seen it else where also a good price anyway
My matrix s36 cassette clips are absolute crap it p1sses me off all the time that the clasp/clips are loose and don’t snap closed any more. Had I known this in advance I wouldn’t have bought the S36. Do you not have any issues with yours. Great vid as always.
Ayup Ben great videos they really help us anglers out , have you ever had any experience with the Preston inception 360 seatbox ,I'm toying with the idea of getting one ,it's either that or the signature pro cheers Ben keep up the good work fella 💪
I like the inception i would have that over maver any day. especially now they have done similar bits from the absolute on there. Plus there attachments are great at Preston
@@Angling4U thanks for that Ben you've kinda made my mind up shall consider the Preston 360 and the padded seat extra probably the best of both worlds then yep the trays and add ons are great , hopefully it might improve my angling haha , cheers Ben going to try fourways when things pick up your vid there was brilliant 🥶🎣
On the matrix boxes does it not pose a problem that there is no spirit level to level the box front to back as the one on the footplate is not right as s there is play on the footplate
Best box all time is the boss box. Middle 90s. Square legs. Modular. Lightweight. Platform. H frame as you now call them. Thats why it was the boss. These so called new fandangles are money making. Holdall. Carried upto 6 rods 2 poles brolley banksticks. Landing net handle. Carry-all. Nets bait food . What a waste of money. And i matchfished way back. Save tha money for pub 😂
Do you buy your seat boxes in the flesh, or online? The reason I ask is that for someone to have so many different seat boxes in such a short space of time, you’re clearly not happy with your purchase, and therefore likely bought it based on style rather than the practical aspects or build quality.
I buy them in the flesh the only reason I sell early is so the re sale is still strong as I go through many to keep the channel fresh. If you watched someone modifying their car for example as i do if they never changed it you would get board after a while this is what i do.
Nice informative video, I have a preston inception box and I am not that impressed with it, it has a lot of negatives. I am surprised you don't mention the mag lock clips? Didn't you find that sometimes the seat or the trays fall off when you open them? Or have I just bought a pup 😂 when it arrived it was damaged in several places but to be fair preston did resolve all the issues 👍
Good honest reviews as ever. Thanks for taking the time to share. All the best Pete 👍

My drawer doesn’t nip on my Garbo box. Goes in and out very easy. ????? If ya selling any other attachments for box let me know
