    I marvel at your ease to move the brush about with little hesitation. And your style is remarkably indistinguishable between on location and studio work. As a middle school teacher, I aimed to keep your free flowing skills within my lessons. Thank you for your wonderful demonstrations.

    Fresh! I try to keep in mind your voice when I'm painting...or thinking about painting...or reading your book. Thank you, I look forward to your videos and watch them multiple times, then try on one of my photos. I especially liked your comment about a human element...in this case the gate. I will keep that in mind in composition, I think that is what is missing in a lovely outdoor scene but I hadn't put my finger on it until this video.

    🇨🇦 Andrew, thank you for this series. About a month ago I tried to paint a windmill scene (using the pure watercolour approach) which included a white fence, something I struggled with. Your video showed me the way to do it convincingly. Would you be able to demonstrate how to paint a wooden footbridge crossing a canal or stream? I find this challenging because of the shadows below the bridge and in the water.

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  Рік тому

      Thanks, glad you found the series of videos helpful. As regards your request I’ll see what I can do. I am just wondering whether you are confusing shadows and reflections. They are quite different. And don’t fall into the trap of thinking you need a special technique for painting different things. That would make painting impossible. Look carefully, draw accurately, compare the tonal values and edges, regardless of what it is. Then try to paint each area once, and only once. Good luck.

    • @dschmid8845
      @dschmid8845 Рік тому

      Hi Andrew. Thanks for the tip. Yes, I was confusing the shadows with reflections, and this is something I have to work on.

    Really enjoying your videos Andrew. Your experience shows in your super quick skies and the few times you need to change colour or add to areas already painted. I know you’re not a fan of masking fluids etc. but how would you tackle say a bright green leafy spring tree against a dark stormy sky? Or would you just avoid the problem?😊

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  Рік тому

      Thanks for getting in touch. I don’t like techniques that limit what I can paint. I try to keep my watercolours fresh by painting each area once. This frees me up from painting in a particular order. I do not have to paint from light to dark, big before small, distance before foreground … When I have painted dark stormy skies in the past and the forms, (trees or buildings) are relatively light, I simply paint them first and the sky round them. It is one of these things which is worse thinking about doing than actually doing. Hope this helps.

  • @francescobiancardi9922
    @francescobiancardi9922 Рік тому

    Ciao,Can you be so kind as to tell me which videos of yours demonstrate well how to do your technique of painting each area once and only once. I thank you.

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  Рік тому

      Thanks for getting in touch. All the videos are free to watch. And I use the same approach in all the videos by trying to paint each area once, and not paint any where twice until everywhere has been painted once.

    Thank you for this. How can you soften edges on dried areas?

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  Рік тому +1

      You can, but it can be tricky as is is easy to destroy the paper surface. If you wet the edge and gently scrub with a brush - sometimes it is necessary to use a stiff, bristle brush - you can reduce the sharpness of the edge. Success can depend on what colour you have used. Staining colours can be hard to elinimate.
