About your discussions. There are just tons, TONS of reactions on UA-cam, where people can not say two words about what is happening; where, if you exclude the series itself, then two minutes of video will be left behind, half of which will take intro and outro; where people just scream without delving into what is happening, the main thing for them is to give out a brighter emotion and finish the video as soon as possible. Therefore, I always appreciate people like you who devote so much time to discussing what you sincerely love (despite the fact that UA-cam algorithms do not like such long videos, which makes my respect for you even more)
Damn, this is the sweetest comment we've ever gotten. You have no idea how much that means to us... Thank you so much 😭😭 People like you really keep us going 🙏
Bro just came back from 80 years of napping, only to know that he's already out of meta and then got spawn killed by one of the noob players that you low diff their party in the past 😂
There are two things that this episode introduces for real in terms of worldbuilding: demons and magic. Both will be expand on in future episodes. For now, we know that demons are a species that seeks destruction, there are demons really proficient in magic like Qual who is one of the seven Sage of destruction (if I remember the title correctly). Demons also have a really long life just like elves (Qual comment on 80 years being short). For magic, barriers are good to block Zoltrak (now named ordinary offensive magic) but they take a lot of mana so using only when the magic is about to impact is more efficient. We haven't yet introduce anything else, but these two points are really interesting in Frieren.
Absolutely, well said! Loving the world building of Frieren! This is still one of our favorite episodes in the show so far! Btw, we missed you buddy! Thanks for all your amazing comments as always! 🥹💖
This was the episode where the show really drew me in. Yes, the first two were incredibly emotional and seeing the show illustrate how time passing differently for Frieren was in terms of missed connections and how short humans lived for, and how she took time for granted, but then to get an episode of almost the opposite out of no where, now that the passing of time is also a very incredible and great thing too, and the short lives of humans can be so meaningful to someone who lives longer in a happier way, the writing is so good! Love having such fun and long discussions to watch each week.
Creatures in the world of Frieren detects other living creatures based on their mana signature. This mana signature depending on the person or other creature who controls it can feel gentle or intimidating. Fern is so incredibly well in controlling her mana that other creatures around her don't really sense her being and or sees her an non-threatening. Which is why in previous episodes Frieren (a 1000 year old mage) was having a hard time finding Fern when looking for her. Which is also why the reason Frieren doesn't notice Fren stalking her.
@@CuddlinginCarnage If you haven't listened to Anytime Anywhere subtitled yet, you really should; it's pretty much thematically perfect for the show. milet's even got an official music video with English captioning posted here on youtube (ua-cam.com/video/r105CzDvoo0/v-deo.html ) so it's pretty accessible.
Frieren only decided to kill Qual instead of sealing him after training Fern's defensive spell and technique to withstand Qual's technique. Qual, as one of the sages/generals of the demon king, who the Hero's party failed to kill, is strong and smart enough to analyze and copy an 80yr advanced defensive spell he's seen only once, and he did it within seconds. Frieren needed Fern to defend to power up her new Zoltraak spell, one powerful enough to one-shot Qual. If Frieren wasn't able to kill Qual in one shot, Qual may have been skilled enough to study and analyze the new Zoltraak, and take advantage of the weakness in the defense spell. They might have been screwed. This episode also rasises a question. How did the hero's party kill the Demon King when they weren't powerful enough to kill Qual?
I loved the stuff about the magic history book. We see Frieren buy the book and give it to Fern then chide her twice for not reading it. Then immediately after Qual is put down in the very next scene we see Fern actually reading it. Little things like that put this anime up there in the top tier for me. Great reactions by both of you here.
I love the birthday scene. It shows Frieren's growth as a disassociated person, struggling to be mindful of her companion. Frieren is literally Fern's adoptive/found mom. Recall Fern's recollection in Episode 2, where she found her love of magic when she created an illusion of butterflies that delighted Heiter; she's probably shared that with Frieren, and Frieren remembered it, so she chose a hairpiece that has a butterfly. And then to follow that up with an amazing fight scene, where Frieren's final blow went right through the cliff. I love this anime!
The first clue was in the first episode - during the funeral; there was an empty space where Himmel should have been. The second clue, was during Frieren's use of the flower making spell, Himmel says to Freiren, he wants to show her the flowers from his home town. The big reveal is Episode 14. THEN GO BACK TO WATCH THE FIRST EPISODE YOU WILL CRY.
Now that you've seen Episode 10, you can come back to the Qual fight in this episode and realize why Qual fully believed he was winning that fight up until the end. Also, the true testament to Qual's genius is that even after 80 years of developing shield magic specifically to counter Zoltraak, not only is Zoltraak still a viable attack spell, according to Frieren the optimal attack strategy against all enemies is pure Zoltraak spam.
You actually can make geodesic spheres out of hexagons of any consistent size. Buckminster Fuller had a ton of geodesic designs based off of this principle, and it makes perfect sense that mages would use this shape for the option of completely surrounding themselves with them. The detail in this show/manga is incredible. Frieren is just something different
You're watching a weird sub, the normal translation for what Himmel said was, "you brat, I'll kill you - That's what I've been wanting to see this whole time!"
Also about Fern being good with animals, and why they approach her, maybe it has to do with her having a excellent control over her mana (which Frieren pointed out when she was practicing saying she was almost invisible in term of her mana "presence"). I'm not sure if birds and cat can detect mana, but if they are, it would mean Fern "calm" mana makes her more approachable.
Yaoisobi is a duo made up of the Producer Ayase, and the singer songwriter Lilas Ikuta. But yall are doing good work, keep it up. Yeah some timeline data for yall, Friren met Fern 20 years after the death of Himmel, when Fern was 9.
Aria is my favorite anime of all time. And i think this is the first time in my life I've seen a reactor bring up Aria in a reaction discussion let alone reaft to it. You guys really are deep into quality anime. Keep doing reactions. We need more of your kind ❤ if you guys have a mal or aniist please drop it in your video or channel description.
So happy that you appreciate us! 🥹 You're so real for having Aria as your favorite anime! People don't talk about it enough! Unfortunately, I stopped updating my MAL account years ago, but maybe I should start updating it again? 🤔
9:38 Not a spoiler because I won't be specific, but just in case don't look it I didn't remember it was his favorite meal and now it adds another layer to a future scene.
Yes, I think the few seconds watching comes from auto play as people scroll through their feed. I too, would only actually click on a video I want to watch. The only other case where I’d only watch a few seconds is when you accidentally click on a video when you’re actually just trying the scroll down through the videos, lol.

Frieren and Fern are quite desexualised apart from an occasional comic relief reference to some growth stuff. Now I don't want you two looking up fanart of this show considering what I just said because it's the opposite case there.😂
@CuddlinginCarnage I hope I didn't discourage you too much from it though, that was sort of a half jest. Theres some cute fanart too though, very precious ones of frieren and fern, and maybe some other ones of characters together too that you may discover as you watch the show which are so sweet they melted my cold cold heart. I guess the show got really popular and the internet just did its thing. I will still refuse to view this shows characters that way though because the emotional impact its given me was just so profound. 😅😅😅
Oh, good to know! We'll definitely check some out! I was a little worried for a second because this show is so wholesome. I totally respect you not wanting to look at the characters that way, we feel the same. These characters are just so precious and fleshed out. I'd hate to do that to them 😅
I realized earlier today that Frieren easily could've probably just one-shotted Qual while he was still sealed, but that wouldn't make for good storytelling at all.
That's a good point! 🤯 I wonder if there's a reason she couldn't because of the nature of the sealing spell? Or maybe she just wanted to give Fern a hands-on magic lesson 😂
Thanks for all your great comments but this one might be boarding on spoilers. Even though you were vague, we originally had no idea what the future conflicts will be like, and we'd like to keep it that way next time 🙏 But man am I scared now 🥶

This anime is already top tier but the freaking music takes it above and beyond. Got chills when the fight theme started playing.

Yeah, I've noticed the sbs are weird since ep 1. Must be crunchyroll or something.

@CuddlinginCarnage well the subs arent that bad, doesnt change the meaning much except different organization of some sentence clauses
