Things in Kenya, especially Nairobi are priced a little too high for foreigners, unfortunately. I have been there several times. Their prices for some things are almost as high as in the US but sourly, sourly lack the quality i.e. the hotel rooms, excursions, car rentals, etc. They also practice double pricing, legally. As Auston says, it is true that you can find much lower prices if you know where to look or team up with a local to make purchases for you, but as a new tourist in the country you usually don't have that luxury nor the time. Just be prepared to spend, perhaps not as much as Europe but certainly way more than East Asia, and all without the matching quality.
