- When Oscar-nominee Diane Ladd developed a life-threatening illness, her doctors recommended exercise to rebuild her lung capacity. That prompted a series of long walks, and long talks, with her daughter, Oscar-winner Laura Dern. Their recorded conversations have now become a joint memoir, "Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, Love (and Banana Pudding)." They talk with correspondent Rita Braver about a family history that's played out on movie and TV screens (sometimes even playing mother and daughter), and of the challenges they (along with so many single working mothers) have faced.

i always remember Laura paying homage to her heroes, her mom and dad during her Oscar speech. They say you're lucky to meet your hero but you're even luckier to have them as your parents.

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there! If your mother is still alive, cherish every moment with her. I lost my mother to Covid three years ago and still miss her so much. I have a grown son and feel so blessed to have him. Theres nothing in the world that compares to the love of a child and being a parent. Enjoy every moment.

I feel so blessed that my Mom passed away (at 98) just before Covid. She was in a assisted living and would not have understood why I wasn't able to visit. I'm so sorry about your Mother.

Watching the episode of Enlightened entitled Consider Helen, that focuses solely on the character that Dianne Ladd plays of Laura’s mother in the first season of the show is like watching an absolute master class in acting. It’s one of the most subtle acting performances I’ve ever seen. And kudos to Mike White’s writing as well. You can’t believe the character development in this half hour of television. Just spectacular. As was the entire show.

I love 😚 how low key the Ladd/Derns are-they just show up, do exceptional work 🙏😭🤗and keep it moving -unlike some other mother/daughter combos 😏with no discernable talent to speak 🙊 of but are always in our faces 😩🤢🙄. So glad Diane Ladd is doing better health wise and I will be more cautious of pesticides because of what she went through.🙏😘
