Hey! Amazed and delighted! I will definitely try your method on my machine. Please tell us in more detail about the type of paint you are using. I live in Russia and I will have to look for analogs for your type of paint. I ask for more information, since the success of the method depends on the paint - the laser power and speed can be adjusted. I hope for an answer. Sincerely.

Here is what I can tell you about the paint. The green is a brand called Rust-Oleum and it is a Fluorescent green spray paint. The black is also Rust-Oleum and is their Painter's Touch spray paints and is a flat or satin black. I hope there is something similar in Russia that you are able to use.

I have been looking for a good quality hulk picture. Any hints where I can find that one. It's perfect for what I am doing.

It has been a while since I did this. I am sure I found it with a google image search. I just did one on "Hulk" "face" and didn't see this one come up. He seems to be popular. ;-) I will keep looking and if I find it, I will let you know where it is.

It is an image that is for sale. The direct link to the image that I found is: i.ebayimg.com/images/g/w1IAAOSwf-Bhvkwt/s-l1600.jpg. It is part of a collection on ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/125737279146?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28. If you plan to use this to make money or to sell, you would likely need to get permissions from the image owner. 🙂

Makes me wonder how hard it would be to do full color. What if you did 4 layers (red green blue and black) and basically mapped those to greyscale values in an image?

The hard part would be getting consistent thickness of each layer of paint. In an upcoming video, I have been doing some burns on white tiles with yellow, orange, red, then black layers. Other than I didn't let each layer dry properly before I started the next layer, it worked well.

I have the 3018 with a 15mw laser would you have any ideas on speed and power I would need to use I can't seem to find a nice middle ground thanks

My laser is rated at 5500mw and is the Genmitsu LE5040. If your laser is 1,500mw, I would try using 4 times the power or 1/4 the speed as a good starting point: 50% power at 1,000 mm/min. Make sure the laser is focused and close to perfect as you can get it. I know that can be a trick in itself. I was able to get my feeds and speeds for this laser by experimentation. I found that changing the burn direction would also make a difference in the end result. This particular machine seems to like a 90° scan angle. I can run the exact same project and use a 0° burn angle and the results are quite different.
My best advice is to play around with your settings until you get something that is working for your machine. That is how I get all of my feeds and speeds for this machine. Good luck. I hope you are able to fine tune your values. I opted for the LE5040 over getting a laser for my 3018Pro due mainly to the speed of the LE5040. I can run as fast as 10,000 mm/min. That higher speed helps speed up projects that don't need DeathStar like power.

Nice video. However the music is distraction an unnecessary.

Maybe not the best background music choice and it is too loud for the narration. It is always a trick to get that set loud enough to fill in but not be distracting. Thank you for the input.

@@ryanbushby4325 - If she only knew she was being recorded, she would have stopped. She has an ensemble performance in a week. She typically practices in a spot of the house where you can hear her everywhere in the house. Every year it is more and more enjoyable to hear.
