+whalesong999 Hah! No. The tunnel they go into immediately after is over 5 miles long on a gradient of 1 in 33. On the first run through, the diesels are there to brake the train, on the return journey, they pull the train up the tunnel. Until the 1990's, even the diesels couldn't make the tunnel, so were pulled through my electric locomotives.
It requires a 10 year overhaul, a full inspection and stripdown. Firebox problems were found, but the restoration of Ab608 'Passchendaele' was the main priority at the time. The restoration of 945 commenced in about March this year
love watching the rods and wheel slips
Me too. Memory of sounds 👍👍👍👍
Awesome vid, looking forward to the DVD :)
wonderful footage!
Great video Matthew! Well done! I love the shot of the train coming out of the tunnel at Arnold River and over the bridge before Moana!
Nice video
Slippery rails starting at about 11:15. Was that why the diesel/electrics were hooked up? Very nice video. Loved the scenery too.

Thanks, Samuel.
Wet rail = wheel slip, understood, but why then does KA942 pull those two extra tank wagons behind it?
Reserve water or oil.

It will return to service in 3-5 years. It is in the Steam Incorporated workshops in Paekākāriki, Kāpiti Coast
Matthew Morison what's wrong with it? When did they start working on it.

Nice
where is the place at 7:11 ?
Possibly the crossing loop at Cass
Super video but you really need to practice smooth movements with the camera. Too many jerky movements are distracting.
Me at 5:22 , 5:56 , 11:41 in the viewing van
That hideous "streamlining" should be scrapped. It spoils a beautiful loco.
+articulatedloco They should remove for at least some excursions, change things up a little.
