This is a look back at the final part of my second visit to this fascinating narrow gauge line. In 1881, the line was completed from Jalpaiguri and Siliguri junction, on the broad gauge main line, all the way up into the Himalayan foothills to the summer camp of Darjeeling. In its 55 mile length, the line rises from 100 metres above sea level to around 2300 metres above sea level. The 2ft gauge 0-4-0 saddle tanks are surprisingly powerful and make a very distinctive sound as they blast their way up the mountain sides.
In this final sequence, we take our train along the rarely used extension to Darjeeling Bazaar and then we return downhill towards Siliguri.and the end of our visit. All in all, it's been a memorable few days on this, the only railway line to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site - a must see for any steam railway enthusiast.
Missing this day because my father work in this trian love u papa and my moom

The Darjeeling Railway is unique in the world. It's a marvellous piece of India's heritage ....... Andy
Truly the British Govt have done a great for the people of Darjeeling. Yes they may have their own interest on it. But till now the tourist still loves to ride on toy train.
It's a great tourist attraction for the area. I hope it can be kept operating ...... Andy
