My Father was in the US Navy during WW ll. His ship was here for extensive repairs and he was adopted by a wonderful family. He loved the people and the beautiful country of Australia! Beautiful Ian especially the lights in the town- I would have even added more. That’s a unique point of interest but I would have left off the dead trees. They take away from such a happy painting and they’re so much bigger than the other trees. But the sunset colors are gorgeous. 👍

I had so many wrong preconceptions about this medium, primarily the constraints that come with the fast drying time of the paint. Your use of Retarder, and clear explanation of the techniques to use, has opened a door back to something close to how I've been painting with watercolour paint, so I reckon I'll get the best of both worlds. The effects you achieve with blending are amazing and your 'You can do this' message is exactly what I needed. So thank you for what you do in teaching us 'Newbies'. And a quick question: of your hundreds of subjects, how do I find what I'm looking for; specifically, a moonlit, evening with a waterfall in a deep tree-lined rocky gorge ? Or perhaps that's your next challenge. 'Hook line and sinkered' fan of your work... David
First time I followed you for painting. When you put red gold on how changed to lighter yellow and ochre? I put white just charged to light red orange.
