OMG! I'm British and this is SOOO True! I always want to end up in a lift on my own and if you are holding a door open, don't expect a thank you or any expression of gratitude! I once held a door open for pretty much a stampede of students at my school and around 3 of them said thank you! Ghastly Children...

To be honest, he gave away that he may not be from these parts, by the way he "correctly" held the door open. Who stands in front of the door when holding it open, he compromised the full opening, by plonking himself there. One must actually stand alongside the door, i.e. their body aligned with the door, making themselves as flat as possible, even if you stand tiptoed, so as not to be a nuisance!

DaxShaw the elevator is where I catch up with everyone at work. but ive worked in the same building for 11 yrs. I take the stairs when I'm sleepy & grumpy in the morning & don't want people to talk to me.
