Thanks for watching! I had no idea this would become so controversial. Certainly don’t like the ruffle any feathers, this is just business. We gave all the personal stuff we found back to the manager. I also made sure the manager was ok with us giving up our deposit to not have to clear out the unit. There was just too many big items in there for us to fit on the truck. She was super cool about it and said she would just call her junk removal guy and pay the $100 to him.
Anyway, thanks again and I hope you enjoyed the video, even though you may have disagreed with some portions 😊
I had no issues with you buying the storage problem was when you bought the storage and the site manager told you previous owner “wanted some of his items back” After you went through everything you still donated and trash a lot of things that you still could’ve gave back to him
Yeah you gave back personal belonging but that’s required at every storage buy out. SSN, Birth certificate
I’ve bought so many storages units but I never had an owner reach out for their stuff. If this was never mentioned in the video I honestly would’ve never cared.
@@iSaidStanback its not their responsibility to give things back to the previous owner. I'm sure there's a process in place and the owner had an opportunity to keep the unit and failed to do so. It sucks but that's what you agree to when you get a storage unit. Great find guys, congratulations on your continued growth!
Just think you shouldn’t have mentioned the owners were “very interested in getting their stuff back”. That immediately made it personal, sad and you literally stepped on a land mine. These can be exciting videos, but maybe keep the personal element out regarding former owners of storage units.
People love to jump on the hate train when they see other people complaining and others look like they have been living under a rock. Just a bunch of idiots that cry about everything. ❄️❄️ ❄️ ❄️
@@jctrev3 doesn’t matter the video would’ve been fine if he never said anything about the guy reaching out
Through this entire comment section people felt the same way
I think people are being unnecessarily too hard on you and I would love to see more videos like this, you did good. Not paying your storage unit bill is just like not paying another type of bill you have, don’t pay your mortgage your house gets repossessed, we all know how it works so it makes no difference what the original owner wanted, your the owner now and life goes on. Great video! Hope to see more.
it seems like the previous owner of the unit had his own contractor business. He most likely spent years building up that collection of tools, extremely sad to see this happen to people. I hope you guys end up being able to give back the personal info to the owner. Also great find for you guys! easily the unit is worth 4-5 grand in total on the low end
That was my guess with the tools, ladders, tile saws seemed like contractor doing little bit of everything.
That was awesome! Lots of work involved, but it was worth it! Thanks for sharing! I hope the original owner gets some of their important stuff back. That’s the hardest part about auctions like this, it’s someone’s life that was affected to the point where they lost a lot of valuable belongings. That’s kind of sad.
That's massive. The SNAP-ON box full of tools is worth thousands. Sick haul.
I can see why the owner was very interested in getting this unit back. Those Tools are worth more than you paid for the unit.
That's the whole idea of buying these units.
And of course, 9 out of 10 times, you spend the money and you get almost nothing back. There was a huge risk factor in buying these units and they are showing the one time they actually made profit.
@@DavidJung03 thank you 🙏
Just one impact gun is more than he paid for the unit
@@DavidJung03 Watch Lockernuts, Wades Ventures and Jebus. They often make a good profit from their lockers. Of there's going to be duds at times but they each frequently do well.
Totally understand that this is business, but it still makes me sad that someone lost all of those things. Lots of really valuable and seemingly sentimental items. Glad that you were able to return some of the items back to the previous owner - they were lucky that you guys bought it and not someone that would have trashed all of that and not bothered.
Imagine the person that lost this unit watched this video..All the personal things and thier tools gone from their business.. No fault to Josh of course. Its just sad.The man lost everything.
don't think they can afford the internet to watch the vid
Years ago before storage wars was a thing. I had a storage unit and the facility auctioned off my unit for like $170. Come to find out they did their accounting wrong and i took them to court and was award $6000. It wasn’t about the money but the personal stuff I lost because of it. The death of my sons belonging, my daughters first dress, high school memories, my collectibles, etc. I lived out of state and stored my stuff while I was gone and I never knew what they were doing. When I see things like this, it’s just sad to know someone’s life is up for sale and no one knows the back story.
I always think the same thing. At the same time, though, thrift stores are really similar to that. Someone probably hurt or is hurting to cause the donation. It's good to be mindful of these things. These wins are on the back of someone's loss. This is how the world works. You make a dollar. Someone loses one. Celebrate at the risk of your own karma.
@@digitaldoc1976 That is different. People donate to thrift stores at their own will. Storage units are auctioned off because someone feel on hard times. As it shows in this video as the owner tried to get some of their stuff back.
I'm sorry to hearing that 💔
It's very sad, I use to be a relief manager for quite a few years back in the 90s.
@@cw485 some of my local thrift stores buy storage units to fill their stores. I know one specifically buys and shared their inventory online saying how they just bought a massive unit or purchased an estate sale, so it's not just donation based, at least not in my area.
Honestly lol you two are like kids on Christmas morning with your anticipation "hurry, what is it!"?
I hope that you two do this again! I always like when people bring the units its home & take their time so we all can watch!
Funny you should say that because every time Hayley would say WOW LOOK AT THAT I was reminded of Randy from Christmas story.
@@yankabillyron4505 lol me too
It’s a great find. Can’t help but feel sad for the person who’s lost everything. Sounds like they really want their stuff. Might be in a desperate situation. Can’t think why else they wouldn’t meet their payments.
I feel the same. I don't think I could take it if I knew the owner was desperate to get their items back. Things that mean nothing to us like a watch or a teddy might have huge meaning to that person and I'm sentimental, so it just gets me in the heart.
You guys are so smart. Your channel needed something new to get a new audience in even though you’re KILLING it with your content period but your channel was stalling compared to the boom awhile back so I’m guessing this is an attempt to get another boost. SUPER SMART.
Happy that you were so successful in your storage unit items AND happy that Dean was able to benefit from the tool haul.
You have to be careful about not cleaning out units, some storage facilities will ban you from participating in their auctions if you fail to clean out to many units (even with the deposit). But you found a great unit.
Don't get me wrong I am not against buying storage units but I feel sad when I see one like this . These items probably had a lot of sentimental value as well as monetary value. It makes you wonder what happened. Glad you did so well !
Storage units can be very profitable. Locker Nuts scored some amazing units filled with designer clothes/shoes, high end trains, vintage toys and gaming cards.
Definitely something to ponder for future.
@@rogerfederer3817 how is it fake?
This was great I would like to see more storage units. Also, I would love to see you both have a table again at the market!
That was really fun! Haley's enthusiasm was infectious. Lol
Love the bartering too!
This definitely went better than our first unit. I'll also say you went above and beyond returning some items to the original owner. Good on you guys and don't let the haters get to you.
This unit is most likely from someone who fell on hard times, likely lost their housing and packed all of their possessions into a storage unit to try and save them. Amazing score for you and hopefully things take a turn for the better for the family that couldn't pay their unit fees. The loss of that fully stocked snap on chest is pretty monumental. One drawer full can easily be worth $1,000.
@@rogerfederer3817 maybe from some content creators but Josh and Hailey make honest content from what I can tell.
It was a mix of men’s and women’s stuff too so probably a couple. If they broke up I bet one of them was paying and now they aren’t so someone is probably furious their stuff is getting auctioned off. For example the dude who owned the snap on was like “please let me get my stuff!”

What a score!! Definitely would love to see another abandoned storage unit video!

Not sure what auction site you used, but we were told by a couple facility managers that if you do not clean out your unit and lose your cleaning deposit that you are also banned from the site for 3 months. Might want to look into that if you haven't been notified. We always make sure to completely clean the units out, including sweeping.
Thanks for sharing this Storage Unit find. You both did awesome job and know there are important stuffs the Owner would want back.. I really enjoy this first Storage Unit Adventure and hope many more. It's always interesting the kind of things people put in storage.. Those tools you found are so valuable than what you pay for the Unit... Glad you are sharing with us this new content. It was fun to watch unwrapping boxes!
Hey Josh don't sweat the bad things people say on here about the units. It's a business for a reason. Obviously the storage places can't hold everyone's items forever and not make any money. That's not how a business works. Well that type of business. At least you gave back their personals. Most people don't even do that. I always did love storage units for the thrill of what your going to find.
Definitely want y’all to do it again. Love seeing how excited y’all get when you find good stuff 😂
Volleyballs??
Pottery Barn Bowls??
And that blue bowl!!
But the art boxes alone cost a lot!!
Wait - an antique booth?? Yeah, I can tell what's coming up next! LOL!
Nice stuff!!
I love seeing you two so excited about your treasures
I love buying storage units. It's so much fun searching for profitable things. It's usually a bust but sometimes you get lucky and find something worth more then the unit itself on one item.
You hit an absolute gold mine. Those tools, nailers, cart, etc. are worth a way more then you paid.
@@rogerfederer3817 Exactly how do you know this? Seems more likely you just aren't a fan of them. Best to just move on :D
Hairy im a full time 11 year professional mechanic i work for David Bales Buick GMC of Jacksboro TN, i can tell you first hand that box and all those tools can easily bring you $5000,7500 easily. Those blue point impacts and drills are 300,500 each those wrench sets are over 300 each screw driver sets are about 200-250 each and all the smaller tools could have huge hidden value depending on the tool and what its purpose for, i highly recommend you find a Mechanic in your area that would come look and appraise those tools that box alone is a 2500,3500 box. Good luck and great video!!
I feel like this video is a true testament to quality content making as your viewers feel like they were there with you! I know I did! I was excited, then overwhelmed with you by the amount of stuff and having to move it, then excited again as you continued to find great stuff. Great haul and fun video!! :)
Congrats on the haul !
Good stuff with the handy-man trade. It's nice to still see people banter that way
Our last unit last week was loaded with antiques. We got it for $60 I'm guessing because of the player piano and the organ in the photos. Guess what....There were 7 pianos!! Loaded all of them by myself lol. I felt it the next day...
That snap-on stuff is gold, all the tools have probably done really well for you. Great find!
I must say, for your first lock up, you were incredibly fortunate.
Gotta feel for the people that couldn’t afford their payments. Looks like they might have lost some important items.
Love your content as always.
I was so excited when you mentioned that you both purchased a unit. I was definitely waiting for the video to drop. I hope you guys do more of these. So much fun to watch!!!
What an incredible deal!! I don’t understand why people have so many things worth so much money and they don’t sell some of it to pay the storage fee! It’s so so sad for someone to lose all of that!
Because if you fall behind on payments you can't get in to your locker.
Yea, could have just sold one or two.racks of those snap ones and caught the whole bill up
I'm really happy for you guys. My favorite resell / thrift channel. Keep it up and God bless You.
I feel bad for this guy who lost his unit. He was obviously a hard working man.
Loved it! You guys are so fun to watch together!
I have to say, I really feel bad when storage units are lost for a family and only excitement is shown for the profit that can be made. My heart just cannot rejoice in someone falling on hard times!!!!! I love Josh and Hayley, I am not bad mouthing them, I just cannot watch this one video.
I have to agree with you. This unit is not one of those units where there's only a handful of things that someone would want back. It's packed with stuff that someone probably worked hard to obtain and it's hard to see so much joy from Josh and Haley simply because they're going to make a few thousand dollars. I think they should of entertained an offer from the previous owner to get their stuff back.
It’s not personal, it’s business.
The office at the storage unit notifies the owner several times…and are given ample opportunity to pay their fees. I feel bad for the owner too, but it isn’t like they aren’t given several chances to regain their property 😢 there are many people who purchase storage lockers as their full time job. I’m hoping the comments I’ve been reading like this don’t stop Josh and Hayley from purchasing another if they would like to…because if they didn’t, someone else would
This was an exciting episode. I think it was for you guys too. Your enthusiasm for the haul really made it special. Also, I think eating the cleaning fee was pure genius. :)
For the life of me, I can’t imagine just NOT paying your monthly storage rent, when you have this much value in it! 😮
Yeah and why don't you just go in and take out at least the most valuable items before losing the unit.
Sometimes the people who rent run into situations where they literally are not in a position to pay, i.e. hospitalized, jailed, unhomed etc.
Reminds me of a friend of family who lost his property over back taxes, yet on that land had a barn crammed full of 50s-60s cars including a 63 Corvette with the split rear window. He wasn't driving them or restoring any, they were just there 🤷♀️
@@thebreatho if you get behind just a month they lock it and you can’t get in til you pay. So they probably didn’t have the money.
@@kelliwillis417 man that's harsh. And it explains a lot. Thank you
Thank you guys for giving back the real important stuff to the original owners...that's good stuff..

Looks like wedding gifts
I watch Jack(Lockernuts) as well and he does really well most of the time. As you said there are occasional duds.
Locker Nuts is a great channel for storage unit hauls! Love the l'oeil de beouf mirror (French); I have one just like it. About a year ago, I sold a partial set of my French copper cooking pots on FBMP for full price ($285).
It’s awesome to see you find a unit like this but hearing the guy wanted to try and get his stuff back breaks my heart because that probably his entire living and job that he lost! I’ll never understand how someone can have thousands worth of stuff yet misses a payment! I would just sell a few things that weren’t as important to keep the more valuable stuff!
If it was his living I don’t think it would have been packed in the back of a storage unit.
@@HairyTornado well like someone else commented maybe they hit rough times during the pandemic and had to pack it away or something! That’s why I was saying kinda shocked someone would miss payments instead of just selling some of that stuff o help keep the rest!
As soon as you pulled out the silver bowl, I was like oooh what is that, beautiful! Then you said it was Pottery Barn!!! 💝 Guarantee you will sell that now for the holidays, FAST!!
I’m always conflicted when the contents of a storage unit are good as I think about all that the owner has lost
Agree
Exactly… really sad to see this.. still think Haley and Josh are good people
It’s no reflection on them just the sad state of affairs
It is sad because I will bet the owner lost their tools for their business. People don’t usually buy those expensive tools just for personal use.. which is probably why they were so interested in getting the stuff back. I have known people that were going through a divorce and had their ex stop paying the storage bill (out of spite.. even though the separation stated they pay the bill) and stuff like this would happen.. all I could think of was that person’s loss from all of it.
@@mommabodsalwaysright4509 it's sad because the owner of the compelx had to foreclose on the property during the peak of covid due to non payment the entire storage facility was family owned for over 100 years.
This was a fun change of pace for your videos. I want to get into storage units one day. I know many people were sad about this, but if the owner was interested in keeping their unit, I'm not sure why they didn't sell some of the valuable items in there to pay the bill instead of letting it go to collections/get sold off. The toolbox alone could have paid off a year or two in most places. I know we don't know anyone circumstances, but you bought it fair and square and did more than most by returning some of the items. Don't feel bad about it! I hope you do more, I like these videos.
Can't help but feel bad for the people who lost all of this stuff. Looks like someone's entire life packed into a box and now it's gone because they fell on hard times.
I agree. Maybe a little less glee would be appropriate considering the possible misery behind the story.
I would imagine people get several warnings before losing their unit. If I were about to lose it all I’d figure out a way to borrow money to make my payment or sell stuff to make it happen.
I know. Makes me wonder why didn't he sell the tool cabinet to have enough to pay for the storage locker.
Duhh.
@@kevinmcfadden9553 you have no idea the story behind these people's lives. That was so cool to watch. Hailey got so excited over the boots but then i would have too. The Snap-On tool box and tools was awesome my husband only buys Snap-On. You hit the jackpot there. It was so nice of you guys to give back the personal papers you found. Most times they never get those back.
Hey Josh, I just wanted to share with you that forgoing your deposit to leave trash in the unit is not a best practice in this industry. Typically the deposit is paid in case people don’t take everything out of the unit they buy. It covers the cost of labor and disposal. It’s not offered as an option to just leave trash in the unit for them to clean up. Typically if you leave stuff in a unit you get banned from buying at future auctions. So don’t be surprised if you do get banned from that specific facility or the company running the auction. This type of behavior has negative consequences on those of us that buy units regularly. Storage units are a lot of work and when you commit to buy, you are buying the trash and the treasure. Please don’t forget that if you decide to do this again in the future. Congratulations on your finds.
I wish I could like this more than once. I really enjoy the videos these guys do, but putting this in their video is a very bad practice. I made my own comment on this matter so I am not going to repeat everything I said there.
Yes I agree you should always try to clean out the unit as best as possible but a lot of facilities I have been to if they do not have a dumpster tell you to feel free to leave what you don't want behind so maybe this could have been the case.
It’s called laziness! I rent a couple of properties and people rather lose their partial deposit than clean…
Okay Karen’s, it’s his first time! He’s learning ning! Great find!!!!
Kinda a long response for something you don't know!? It really didn't show the condition of the unit upon leaving. Plus, not having access to the dumpster is the key to me leaving the trash. All for taking the bulk. But this is why they implement the fee.
I see your thumbnail game stepping up! 🤩🤩🤩 Hope y’all are doing amazing!

Great instincts you guys! Storage units are super unpredictable and you were successful. Keep up the good work and it is wonderful of you both to return the personal items to the original owner.
As a home owner of a really nice house you should keep that snap on chest you'll be happy you did down the road.
I am really touched by the stories of those who has losed their things. But for the variety I really like so even now and then a video like this.
Of course the guy wants to get his stuff back. Dude should have paid his bill.

You guys not worried that the owner expressed an interest in getting their stuff back and you're publicly showing it all and yourselves?

I loved this , def do it again ! very insightful
This one is hard for me. I know the united was sold fair and square, but I don't think I could take someone's stuff knowing they'd like it back. They probably put things in there that truly meant alot to them, with nowhere else to put them, thinking they'd be able to afford the rent. Just doesn't seem right to me.
I get it, but it’s a business. You signed the contract. If you don’t pay the bill, this is what happens.

You should always wear gloves while opening up storages. Just an advice.
This was such a fun video please do more like this.
Mixed feeling about these types of hauls. But, ultimately, the owner should've had a friend/ relative clear out the very valuable stuff before defaulting on their payments. They knew the consequences of non payment. Still, I can't help but feel bad for them, and it would be hard to enjoy these scores knowing they want their old stuff back.
Not everyone has a friend or relative who could or would do that! And then they still need somewhere to put the stuff.
Awesome video! I used to watch storage wars myself. Looks fun & exciting but I can see all the work like when you’re moving 👎🏻 definitely not a 1-2 person gig. Would love to see more!
Don’t you just feel So guilty for basically buying someone’s life? They may have fallen on hard times and couldn’t pay their bills. I really don’t think I could be happy profiting from someone else’s misfortune 😢
It's unfortunate for the person who had the unit but for Josh and Hailey this is their business. They did do their best to get personal items returned to the office so the person could retrieve them.
The riveted box you have in your hand @21:21 is something you make in A&P school (aircraft maintenance) it’s something you make to simulate repairs to aircraft, and you get graded on it.

Can you imagine losing your job, not able to pay the bills and end up losing all those personal belongings. Really sad, especially because you found something from 2020 and told us the owner would love to get their stuff back but they're not able to.. Can you also imagine the old owner sees this video.. painful. And Josh, if you want to keep day one followers you really need to stay humble and also accept less good comments. Feels like you start to walk next to your shoes and it is really sad to see because we loved the old vids!
Yeah, this one just left me feeling kind yucky... A gross aftertaste of joyful greed. I understand the moral logic behind justifying this. Storage facility is a business. Owners didn't pay. So on and so forth. But it's like driving by a car wreck and saying "well, it's the risk of driving on the roads and you shouldn't speed. Maybe I can get a killer deal on that salvaged car". Would have been nice to see an element of empathy I guess.
Very awesome find. Hope that they are all as good as this unit if you decided to continue doing it.
I have to say I'd try to find out if the guy who lost the unit earned his living with those tools and just fell on temporary hard times. I'd have a hard time keeping all of them in that case, IF he needs them to resume earning a living. If, OTOH, they are just man toys like husband accumulates but rarely uses, I'd sell them.
Love this video Josh and Hailie! Abandoned storage units is allways super entertaining imo. Would love for you to do this some more :)
