  • Running in of your brand new subwoofers. Why do we do this?
In its most basic explanation, the spiders in the subwoofer suspension are very stiff and tight when brand new. Like a new engine that needs to he run in, so do spiders as they need to stretch and become more looser or compliant.
But what happens when the spiders get stretched or loose? This then affects the Fs of the subwoofer which drops, giving you better lower tuning and the effect you get when after playing any speaker, gets louder and lower on its own after a good couple months of playing.
Here we played 20hz frequency test tone and planned to play for at least 10 hours per subwoofer. You have to constantly monitor that you are not overheating the subwoofer or that it falls from where its placed. Also check amplifier as ours got quite hot pushing power trying to make the sunwoofer play quite a bit. Let it cool and play again.
By running in your subwoofer or any speaker for that matter, you ensure longer lifespan and not giving it full throttle on a brand new product. Treat them well and they will last for very long. .

I dont think 800 series is using iron cloth spiders. Only hand made woofers by dd have these. At least in their website there is no information about iron cloth spiders on 800 series.

Love DD. My only issue is that increasing cone size means more powerful amp is needed UNLESS you go with entry level subs.

This has to be one of the worst videos posted! 1 - Couldn't hear what he was saying, his voice was fading in and out, wear a lapel microphone! 2 - Then there was the buzzing noise. 3 - The obnoxious, repetitious music (if you want to call it music) DO IT OVER by someone who knows what their doing! Very unprofessional!
