I experienced a derecho for the first time last year, May 2022 an intense storm went through southern ontario. The camera really doesn't do justice on how dark and how green the sky gets.
My mother, my sister and I were coming in from Chattanooga when we came into Indianapolis in this storm. Rain so bad, my sister could not see. The cloud was so menacing I told my sister to get off the highway. The next exit was 7 miles down the road. We prayed all the way to the exit where we found an Arby. The place was crowded. One lady said she was so scared she was going to die that she called her children to say goodbye. This was a freak a$$ storm. It seems anytime we travel through Kentucky or southern Indiana, we seem to encounter these demonic storms. So grateful to have made it home to crazy Chicago.
I was in Macomb, IL for this storm. 2/3 of town lost power that day and around 1/3 didn't have power for 48 hours. Road it out at work in the warehouse, sounded like the roof was going to peel off the store.
I was up on the north end when this came through, it was dark and some of the craziest wind I've seen around here... but I've heard the south end got it a lot worse. My friend near Speedway had a huge limb fall through her roof and part of it came down into the living room. Meanwhile, I was just working from home but lost internet for a little while
😮😢 if my garage was cleaned out in my house and I was going to experience something like that, I pulled a car in the garage to protect it. I would not even leave it out there. Hope it didn't do too much damage till your house or property.
It was definitely timing with that anniversary thing 😂 wow so cool! Wel at least you got some good footage from this. Darn it weakened. Oh well. Looks pretty strong to me still 😂
I'm glad Newark Ohio didn't get this and I know it's been 11 years since the derecho in June 29th 2012 but asked God that I know that at some point Newark Ohio will get hit by another derecho and whenever that happens I'll be ready but I'm thankful that my house has never been damaged by storms and I know that my house will eventually take a hit and I know that God has my back no matter what comes my way

Yeah it’s pretty cool and just pretty or beautiful but take cover! I would be outside watching it too I’m such a hypocrite 😂
Ontario wow even Canada isn’t safe from these monsters
Your footage of the shelf cloud's approach from the west was awesome!

We might have from hurricane Hilary this last summer but I’m in Northern California this happened in southern California a couple hundred miles away
yeah that system moved fast, up to 100+ MPH wind speeds reported here in Illinois that day
I love storms!
I love the rain 🌧️
nothing compared to what Terre haute got!
I wish I could've been there. Lol
Same with Greencastle tree damage pretty much all over the place there was a car that was smashed
Compare two hurricanes and tornadoes seems like this one is like scarier I mean all both do the same damage
What camera do you have you have great video quality
It's a Panasonic Lumix S5 with a Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens in this video.

In the triangle of highways northwest of Indianapolis.

I could sleep to this
2012 to me will always be one of the strongest derechos
Im in Indy. I was terrified. It sounded like chainsaws
Which camera was used to record the video?
Panasonic Lumix S5.
Do you live in the street where "Everything Must Go" was filmed? lol
What app did you use
RadarScope.

I’m across from you
Also I’m from California we don’t really get derecho storms here
Umm, I'm not seeing a derecho storm.. This looks like a normal storm, with decent amount of rain. Not much else..
👍
Good night 😂
The weakest derecho I've ever saw.......
Are you Mexican?
We Americans call that a Thunderstorm up here.
This was way more than an average thunderstorm. But good job showing your ignorance.
Looks weak
Nothing compared to what Carmel Indiana got lol 😝
Very anti-climatic tiny little storm😏
