Awesome! Lido Key is special to me too. Found my Junonias there! I love the south end. Just so peaceful there (even with all the people) and I love how you can walk all around the tip and find shells! Nice facilities at the south end also. Happy shelling!
it was so cool out there! especially to be finding things we don't normally find, and in a spot we haven't shelled in a long time - seriously, there was nothing out there for the longest, i just stopped there going cuz i never found squat! it sure was fun to see that it had changed! :D
Hi Mich !! Hope all is well with you. This was a great shell adventure. Don’t you just love when there are so many in a small area?? Woohoo! Every time I find one special one I look extra hard to find more nearby lol. Thanks for sharing. Also the young man and the shark tooth just an added bonus of joy. !
Oh it was cool meeting Mr Caruso too - I didn't include this in the video, but i think this story is worth sharing: We had just a couple days before eaten at a great pizza place up in st pete/largo on the way back from TRYing to get to the sand sculptures... The place is called Super Sardo's Pizza, on Ulmerton Road. The owner, Sardo, is from NYC- brooklyn guy, great NY pie, wow....just delicious! Anyways... because Mr Caruso (Sal) had such a strong NY accent, we were telling him about Sardo's, that he should go eat there while he was here in the area - and we were FLOORED to find out that he not only knew the family personally, he was sort of honorarily related to them. Sardo had a sister who passed away from cancer years ago, like in her 20's, beautiful girl... turns out she was engaged to Mr Caruso (Sal) and she passed before they got married. So he knew the family and the restaurant very well - he even called Sardo personally right there with us from the beach, to tell him that he met some customers who spoke very highly of his place and told him he was coming for a visit! It was really touching and special. I was widowed young like he was too (when i was in my late 20's), so we kind of connected because of that and had a great conversation - what serendipity, I'll tell ya! He came over that morning to offer me a shark tooth because he thought I had grit, cuz of the walker.... :D Funny how life goes some times, isn't it? :D Thru something as simple as loving the beach, we meet a random stranger who we had a bunch in common with and somehow the universe put us on the same beach at the same time to make a lovely connection with :) This beach trip holds a special spot in my heart because of that crazy chance encounter... :'-) ...like the universe letting us know we were in the right place at the right time doing the right thing :D
Buongiorno a voi! 👋👋👋👋🌞🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚
live coral yes - dead coral fingers... i will be talking to FWC about that in the morning And i have read the FWC pages and laws carefully, ... the only restrictions that I find are for LIVE animals... live corals live sea whips live shellfish ... many divers will go after live coral to sell in the aquarium trade and that's where a lot of the restriction came from so as not to damage the large offshore reefs so i am going directly to the FWC people and asking them directly this week :D
@@echouebijoux I may be confused but the article I saw was specific to beach collections. Praying I haven’t picked up illegal coral from the beach. Any info would be appreciated!❤️
@@cindyrowland5030 i might know the article you mean... it starts out talking about coral collection ban in hawaii, then talks a bit about the florida stuff, fire coral, stag horn, and the sea fans... to my understanding after a bunch of reading, the "none anytime" thing applies to the Keys on specific types because the reefs there are full of federally protected species and they don't want people ripping out chucks of dead/bleached stuff to sell for aquariums and home decor, etc. because it provides habitat. FWC's website says there is specific restriction on NONLETHAL HARVEST - that means collecting something live. The closest FWC office to me is in tampa, so i am trying to figure out when i can get up there and go talk to a human instead of google about it :) the stuff we find around here is thin finger & cup mostly - we don't get the stag horn or pillars or the fans or fire coral around here, or i would see pieces of them on the beaches...??
@@echouebijoux please share your findings if you get the chance! I have a small collection of coral we picked up on the beach but I’ll take it back if it’s illegal. ❤️🥺
