  • Hurricane Idalia was pretty tough on Florida's beaches - but the shelling has been just UNbelievable! Let's dive in to rare & incredible finds and get a peek at what things looked like immediately following Idalia before anything was cleaned up - the tide is receding now on day 2 after, and damage hidden by the tide is now much more apparent - including additional new beach at Lido and beach damage on Longboat and Anna Maria islands.
After a great morning of finding on Lido that included multiple CONE SHELLS, we headed up to Longboat Key and were ASTONISHED at the changes. This installment of the series will show you side by side footage from before and after Idalia, perfectly illustrating the major changes and damage to the beaches.
This video is the 2nd in a 4 part series that will also include Pass-A-Grille, Sunset Beach Treasure Island, and Anna Maria Island, with a wrap up part 5 of how to's on cleaning stuff, identifying the haul, and just BAGS of shells! Get ready for some shell insanity with a front row seat to some wild finds!

o gosh i wish it was every day lol... he had taken a few days off for Idalia because we were bracing for a hit and he does construction work (home repair and remodels) and he couldn't be doing carport metal or painting etc in the rain and wind....thankfully we didn't get clobbered like we did for Ian!
so since he had scheduled the days already off we took advantage of it. Most of the time he's working late and on weekends, so we don't get much time to shell together!
I am very happy he likes shelling tho... :D

Part of it yes.... a few minutes worth in the beach report videos right after the storm... this most recent video is shelling and beach stuff from all the places we hit that day :) we went to Lido, then longboat in 2 places, then a drive by of coquina which was still under some water. All these were on the Friday following Idalia and i was hitting a lot of beaches post storm to report on beach damage etc...
I was trying to post the shelling stuff in order that we did it in, so that would be pass a grille next - but, i may post Ana Maria instead then the Pass a Grille 2nd day since we just saw the 1st of 2 pass a grille trips last week :) and i found some super cool stuff at and maria too including some albino prickly cockles and some other cool stuff :) In reality, we went to PAG the day after Lido, then I went to Ana Maria and hit 6 spots all along the island from top to bottom...

You have not been holding the shells out in front of you far enough and long enough for us to get good look at them. I’m sure you weren’t aware just thought I would mention it.
