I agree with what Ben said at 5:25. Netflix saw what people liked between the darkling and Alina in S1 ep 5, but decided to rob us of that in season 2 which led to a decline in viewer interest in season 2. I strongly believe that if season 2 had more of darklina’s toxic “romance” and less of the crows, it’d made for a much better season

No good writers or executive prooducers would have looked at s1, looked at the general audience reaction to darklina, and seen with their own eyes the chemistry between Ben and Jessie....and not used it. General audience matters a lot more than a few loud antis, but they chose to go by the antis and alienated not only half the fanbase (darklina) but also the general audience
The thing is they still could and should have kept the crows!!! It’s just that they literally stuffed 4!!! Books into one season AND blended it up. So none of the plot or arcs or anything made sense or coalesced. We were also robbed of Matias in s 2, like why the eff did they do so much crow stuff but he was still in prison the WHOLE season??? Literally nothing made sense. And to what Jessie said the friction missing-like YES. THEY Took all the friction with Mal out and the struggle within herself for power vs other values. Rabat almost the thing about her rel with darkling. He was toxic but she chose it too, bc she was drawn to the power.
Can you imagine how much we could have gotten? Darklina and their complicated relationship. I pray that SaB will be renewed. This cancellation was highly unfair and we should not suffer for someone else's wrong decisions.

They didn't have to write out "any undertones of romance," they didn't need to go to several interviews to bash the fan favorite characters, they didn't need to go on social media and attack fans from one side of the fandom....yet they did
@@all-for-one-- I believe in people and that everyone makes mistakes and learns from them. S1 was perfect and made SaB popular (we all know why, although not everyone wants to admit it out loud), while 2 was a poor accident at work, but as I say. If the scriptwriters manage to fix the mistakes and give people what they really want, we will save both S3 and the spinnoff. But there can't be "that" ship, because let's face it, it ruined our chances. I still believe and I don't give up. I want to see the Darkling because it can't get any worse.

Yep! Netflix writers need basic PR lessons. Never insult a major part of the fandom. Alienating half of the fandom was a huge mistake
Pushing malina got s3 and the spinoff cancelled. Darklina + crows together would have guaranteed a s3 and a spin-off
