I'm a pinball player from way back. To me the most amazing part about that album was that they were able to weave a story line around the game of pinball and make it sell. I'm not sure any other band could have pulled that off without making it sound corny.
see 'the History of TOMMY' DVD, and see how close to not getting on the LP 'Pinball Wizard' really was. Pete does play that single note (high E string?) thru out , and it does sound electronic, like a machine. live, he had to stick to chords.
Daltry; authentic and relatable then, authentic and relatable still.
Spot on mate. Love daltrey and the who.
My favorite music back in the 60's and 70's were from The Who and "The Moody Blues". I am 69 now and still listen to them. My little granddaughters dance to them. They call it mama's music!
👍 the best band ever 🇬🇧
Ah ! The good old Moody Blues !
What a wonderful band. Days of future past and a threshold of a dream were immense. The blue Jay's were decent when they broke away from the others.
I am seventy and occasionally listen to their music through my NAS box. Justine Hayward had the most melodic voice in pop music.
Knights in white satin is an incredible song.
One of the best rock albums ever concived by man kind
Roger Daltrey is 76, so whose that barely fifty year old doing the interview, thanks Rog loved the album, in fact i think i've got all the versions of Tommy, i also hope that it gets reinvented every few years for ever, can you imagine in 200 years a new Tommy.
He looks great.
He gets more handsome over time!
He’s such a cool dude. 👍🏼
There will never be another Who... 4 virtuosos at their chosen instrument, blending into maximum r&b.
I love Roger Daltrey 🤘🕶️🤩🥰 Rock on
Looks good for his age.
Looks great.
I think he perfectly describes what makes this otherwise bizarre rock opera story a beloved classic. Everyone can relate to Tommy at some points
Best Rock singer out there Mr D 🎤🎶🎵🇬🇧👍
Brilliant film brilliant album!!
He was and still is one of the greatest.
Where he lost me was when he started asking for money in exchange for his autograph.
Then he blasted fans for smoking the "Pot" at the Who concerts.
The Who are the reason many in their 60's & 70's still smoke the "Pot" to this day.
WTF? Gosh, "I hope I die before I get old!"
Saw Roger do Tommy in Minneapolis . He was excellent ! Watch out microphone throwing ( FUN ) ! Love , Roger.
A GENTLE MINUTE WAS TO HAVE SET EYES AND MEETING SUCH A HUMBLE BEING WISH I COULD SEE HIM AGAIN I am Krizna met you with a friend in Rhode Island
Fucking amazing record.
He's such a Cool dude 👍
So down to earth, no ego about him.
@@shebuckley260 I love Roger Daltrey
Very ! From a straight guy .
I learned the juggle from the inside artwork while listening to Tommy, LOL
I built an adobe house based on the Holiday Camp, featuring trick carnival mirrors...and of course a centrally located arcade.
love-ooh
I was living in Saint Ronnan's road when the band were making the movie.
Apparently my landlord's father was involved as an Architect / adviser to the film crew. One Saturday night the entire band visited our residence and a full blown booze up ensued.
Unfortunately I was out playing snooker with my flatmate that night and missed out on the fun. What a bummer !
Where was this located? What city? I’m from California/US, so I don’t know. Huge WHO/Tommy fan since I was 12. Always love to hear odd details!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@sunnyrock4404 Much of it was filmed in and around Portsmouth on the south coast of England.
My brother and me used giggle at the Tommy movie, our mom never got it ..... Good day's. Strange' Never liked mudicals, but this has us thinking, even at a young age.
Pinball Wizard Was the reason we... 11yearold me and my 13yearold brother had to see it, Elton John singing Pinball Wizard!!! The movie was restricted so you had to be 16 or have your parent with. Somehow we got in. I've got the movie soundtrack, located the movie on VHS, and on DVD too. Just to see Eric Clapton Eyesight To The Blind, Tina Turner do Acid Queen, Paul Nicholas Cousin Kevin, Elton John Pinball Wizard, or hear Jack Nicholson sing. or see Roger Hang Glide. It's a great movie.
Not to sure an eleven year old school boy aught to be watching Anne Margaret writhing around on a bed, soaking wet, straddling a twelve foot long sausage !
@@den264 My brother and I were thinking the same thing at the time. We knew we shouldn't be seeing it! I remember every minute of that film. The Uncle Ernie scene raised a lot more questions, and I wasn't far off knowing what was going on. As for the Ann Margaret thing we were thinking how gross it would be covered with all that goop... Talk about playing with your food! I hoped her Dad didn't make her to eat it like my Dad would!
@@den264 Odd fetish with them - Roger was 'bathing' in them for the Sell Out album, too. Maybe it's John - wasn't his cause of death asphyxiation? With a couple call girls in Vegas? Covered in beans?
@@den264 I did. The film was life changing for me at 11. Not in a bad way. Gateway film.
It’s really a shame that Keith moon isn’t around anymore, he’d be an amazing old person
Daltrey defines the work even better than author Pete Townsend!! He's clearly a fan of Tommy...
