magnifico Moldoveanu, una voce bellissima !
bravissimi entrambi .
This is one of Scotto's most brilliant characterization--along with her Desdemona with Vickers. Even when she was singing the "ina" roles she recorded her first Butterfly with Bergonzi and clearly she longed for different challenges although her DVD from Japan of Lucia is superb. I love the sound of her voice and what she does with the drama. Utterly involved and utterly committed to the vocal line and text. She always gave more than 100%.
What outstanding talents and Moldoveanu looks the part.
So does Scotto!
Jesus…… Remarkable!!!!!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Imagine singing like this live onstage and then having to walk offstage, back into the world as a meager mortal and act like a normal human being.
Breathtaking. Wonderful singer actor/actress in a most beautiful albeit little known masterpiece. This Met production is excellent, so different from the modern and boring approaches to this opera.
Bravi! I got to know Vasile when he sang the Duke in Munich in 1976. Nice guy!
My God, WHAT A VOICE!!!! WHAT A TALENT!!!! UNIQUE!!!
Fabulous voice, accomplished actress, have been fortunate enough to hear and see her in the seventies several times at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Lucky me !!

Beautiful

there's still no entire opera recording exist on the market
The complete recording is available at the store of the Metropolitan Opera. It is part of "Il Trittico" or trilogy of one-act operas by Puccini.
I have a dvd of Il Trittico at the Met Opera, Renata sang all three roles in the one evening
Where could I find the whole opera? With this extraordinary tenor, of course!

bombayteddy Renata Scotto was in all three operas. A couple of months before that she perform Norma and was booed sad to say the prima donna assoluta was already failing. Shame on the Metropolitan Opera's audience for Boeing her! Renata Scotto always delivered during the seventies. Before she did she did Puccini trilogy she was interviewed by Opera news. Being the strong woman that she was she said that she will show them that she still capable of singing and she did an incredible performance. My wife and I were watching this live from the Metropolitan Opera waiting for friends to come over for a barbecue. When she perform sister Angelica she brought us 2 tears due to her acting and Stage presence. It was obvious her voice was failing but she brought it home. After the third Opera was over she got a standing ovation. She was very moved as she fought back the tears. Audiences can be so hurtful. They know who they are when they booed her with the performance of Norma. One of the most difficult roles in Opera. Casta Diva and the cabaleta are very difficult for even the greatest star. She failed miserably. But she did not deserve to be booed. Thank you Renata 4 being the consummate professional. I have the entire three operas on VHS. I need 2 transfer 2 DVD. Just a little piece of information. Enjoy sincerely ARNOLD BOURBON AMARAL
Of course!
👏👏👏👏
Heavens I thought that was Corelli to begin with.

How the heck was Renata Scotti a big star while Moldoveanu wasn't???
Management.
@@James_Bowie Initially when he left Rumania (with no intention to return) he was declared non grata and an enemy of the state. He sang a number of roles in western Europe at the Met he was afforded at least three telecasts. While he considered his fach to be lyric it sounds to me that spinto would be more accurate. As to why he didn't become a star there are a number of reasons. He returned to Europe and sang actively for a number of years and the Rumanian government withdrew the charges so that he was able to return but Europe was his home base. Unfortunately to become a "star" one has to go through the Herbert Breslin route as Pavarotti did and hence he had bookings on late night talk shows ( when they booked opera singers). The Big P had an engaging personality and was a good guest. Breslin in a sense took over his career and made sure that he had a good record contract and his appearances with Sutherland didn't hurt. Many artists are born with the ability to engage audiences without a Breslin, e.g., Schwarzkopf who was lucky to be married to a record producer and she traveled widely and gave concerts all over the globe. I don't know about Domingo but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't hire a PR man. Rumor (and this is really gossip so sprinkle a large amount of salt on it) had it that Domingo actively saw to it that any number of tenors were denied engagememts if management wanted to hire Domingo. A very uncharitable charge but the man would appear to want to die singing--alas as a baritone.
WE DIDNT KNOW WHAT WE HAD!!!!
Opera is all politics.
Și Nicolae Herlea......
I thought "what's wrong with Corelli" at first
Folle di gelosia!
Vorrei tenerti stretta
come una cosa mia!
Vorrei non più soffrir,
non più soffrir che
un altro ti toccasse,
e, per sottrarre a tutti
il corpo tuo divino,
io te lo giuro,
lo giuro, non tremo
a vibrare il coltello
e con gocce di sangue
fabbricarti un gioiello!
Levine conducts this so better then than he did twenty-six years later.. All the earthiness of this left him by time of the first season of Live in HD. Moldoveanu would have a major career today. The lame acting of Licitra and of Antonenko on the Pappano, plus Antonenko is not in tune just do not compare. I'd say Scotto's acting is almost bad, just really kind of ho-hum, but then watch Eva-Marie Westbroek, a good actress, but the stage direction on the Pappano is so lame! I take some of this back. Scotto sucks at acting this part too.
