Hi there Danny, I just watched this video then went out to try this technique. It worked right away. I have struggled with the banker play for years. The primary issue being my own ability to keep the club face open. With this technique I’m able to keep it open and use the bounce.
I've been going over my liked videos and I realized that I never commented on this posting. The set up, grip and technique described here completely transformed my bunker play. At first I was successful one shot out of two, which was alresdy a significant improvement. My home course has several deep bunkers, much like the one in the video. This gave me many opportunities to practice. By the end of the season I rarely missed a bunker shot. I went from "fear and trembling" evey time I faced a bunker shot to seeing the shot as an "opportunity to express myself" as Fred Shoemaker would say. Thanks once again.😊
This a great technique. I practiced it for 10 mins before playing and then used it in the 3 bunkers I had to play during my round. I'll say I only remembered 80% of the lesson, so I'm watching it again. The biggest improvement for me was shaft angle at address - it really helps with consistency of depth of the club head through the sand. A big difference maker on the quality of the shot. I really appreciate the level of detail Danny provides in breaking down all aspects of the shot.
Used the technique on my most recent round @ Firestone North. Got out of 6 bunkers (100%) and made 2 sand saves, including a birdie on a par 5. One of the biggest keys for me is making sure the shaft angle is vertical vs a forward lean. Thanks again, Danny.
Well done Danny! I was struggling with greenside bunkers, but after working a bit with this technique and playing a few rounds I don't mind playing out of bunkers any longer. For those of you who struggle with the traditional method of an open stance and cutting across the ball, I highly recommend giving this a try. It will take a little practice to get comfortable with the grip but it will be worth the effort! Mike in Las Vegas
The "mini ark" is a great way to explain the downward arm rotation. I have struggled with this technique because no one has explained it this well. Will give it a try and get back to you. Note to self: (Mike Davie below) "From your description of the 'mini arc' am I correct is saying the left arm slows near contact with the ball whilst the right hand/wrist whips under the slower left arm?" YES!
Yet again Danny - excellent! Managed to get out of two bunkers that have caused major problems before. So exciting to see the ball pop up in the air like never before. Usual result is either digging underneath it or thinning out and catching the lip and rolling back down into the bunker. Such a controlled and focused set up, love it
This worked wonders for my bunker play. Watched this video a few times to get the basics right, then had a 90 minute session just on bunker play. Next day during my round of golf I was in 4 greenside bunkers: got out really nicely from all of them, and even made 2 up-and- down pars. And the same level of consistency has continued on my next rounds as well. Thanks Danny immensely for this awesome video/tip!!
Can't believe I'm only getting to see your golf instruction videos now Danny. Great stuff, I'll have to practice this new technique as I was always doing the aim left and open up your stance out of a bunker.
Late to this, but it's been a game-changer for me so far. Gone from 4 (picked-up after 4th!), 3 & 2 shots out of bunkers last week, to three times out first time yesterday. Thank you!
Danny, thank you for your reply and I will look at your recent video. And btw, I DO like your other videos because you keep the message simple / clear. The best teaching pros I have ever had are those that work with your swing and provide you with three (max) tips / changes to work with - any more a) you will forget them) b) you have complicated the message. The same in fact goes for any great speech / lecture! Anyway, I am in your fan club, you are very genuine and sincere. Thank you.
Best drill I ever seen..That mini arc is awesome, one of my fav shots in golf When your swinging your arms body stays in place, make a even steady swing with no wristy movement. Stay solid and your arms, legs, and body all feels like one piece!! No gaps all feels solid ,,and the ball pop's out firm with energy lands like a butterfly then rolls with ease. Best lesson you provided Danny!!!! God Instructor!!
Used the techniques described in this video today for the first time. The results were absolutely wonderful. The grip felt so different- but I trusted the process and the results were great. I don't know why you could not use this for any short elevated approach. Thanks
Danny, I'm always struggle with the Bunker shot. I've watching 2 to 3 times yr video and practices few hours.. Yesterday.. 4 Bunkers shots saved .The ball came out high softly and closed to the pin !! Good Surprise for my friends ...😹😎😉 Thank you for the lesson and for all videos in wich I follow every week. Merciiii / Banyén
I’m so pleased you have done this video. I have been trying this type of bunker shot for a very long time, but I’ve been extremely inconsistent. Watching you do the release has made me realise where I’ve been going wrong. Off to the practice bunker before Saturday’s Medal.
This is a great video from 2 years ago. Golf technique transcends time and space. I would say that position hands in the middle towards front (left) is better with all sands including wet or hard bunker along with weight focus on the front left leg.
this new way of playing bunker shots works great for me, thank you! I was not bad at bunker shots before, but this new way gets the ball a little higher in the air and it stops much quicker. Great video!
Wow. It’s night time here but just went and tried it with a PW. The height the ball jumped was amazing. Great tip thanks Danny. I’ll give it a go tomorrow
Wow Danny. I’ve struggled with confidence out of bunkers. I tried this today in a match. 3 bunkers and 3 sand saves. Ball just popped out beautifully. Couldn’t believe it. The best bunker tip, EVER! Thank you.
Great video. Thank you . Tried this today on the course got out of the bunker well. Will continue with this technique and hopefully increase my confidence.
Great video Danny, tried this today and had lots of success. found in the past i couldn't get the loft to work for me and struggled to get up and out - the key for me today was getting the club up high rather than round. once i got that going they were up and out, also found that on harder more compact sand to just swing a tad slower to stop the ball coming out too hot (hope that makes sense). Great content and detail in the instruction, just need to sort out the normal Iron swing now and i am good to go 😁👍
Impecable. Con diferencia haces los videos de técnica más fáciles de entender. Muchísimas gracias porque haces fácil y entendible lo difícil. Muchas gracias de nuevo y sigue haciéndolo tan bien y ayudándonos a tanta gente. Saludos.
Another well explained video! I have no idea how to get out of the bunker and I'm in there a lot, so this helps! Now I'm excited to try this! Here's hoping for more bunkers! lol
I watched this the other day .. as a newbie to the game I’m really struggled with bunkers… tried this grip and set up and couldn’t believe how the ball was coming out .. just once I failed out of about 12 attempts in practice… looking forward to getting in a bunker on the course now 😂
My course has hard sand and steep bunkers. Difficult !! I have some work to do in the bunkers. Liked your video! I am off to the practice area. Thanks for your lessons!!!
I just tried this method out, not in the bunker but in the green side rough and it worked so well the ball just popped up and landed softly on the green. Thanks for the excellent advise.
Great video as always, Danny and what a brilliant tipp! Watched this video this morning and tried this out during a tournament this afternoon. The ball popped out of the bunker so easy and high! Thank you very much!
Hi Danny, I’ve adopted you as my go-to virtual golf guru, congratulations! On this older video, you do not stress flexing the knees and getting much lower than for a normal shot, as you do in your more recent videos. Is there a reason for this? Thank you for all your great instructional videos.
Well Danny this is a bit different. It looks scary but all so exciting as i'm struggling big time in the bunkers. Thinkim goingto need to take phone with me to the course to keep going over video while practising. A lot to take in as so different to anything ive seen before. The proof is in the pudding though and you got the ball out every time. Thx for posting.
Julian Roberts, thanks Jullian, there’s a definite learning curve but it’s soooo worth it. Please let me know how you get on...happy to answer questions after your practice
Crazy but just tried this in the yard. Was hitting towering lob shots that land softly by using this technique. Was concentrating on thumping/bruising ground behind the ball. Can’t wait to try this in a hazard.
I used this technique with great success for short bunker shots. I also used the grip effectively on pitch shots from the fairway end it enabled me to use the balance of the wedge and avoid digging in and taking too much of a divot. Are there any adjustments that you would recommend for longer bunker shots, say 20 or so yards from the green of from fairway bunkers?
Danny, thanks again for the great instructions. I am using 60 degree Sure-Out2 wedge, have no problem coming out of the bunker without open the club face and it goes out about 10 -15 yards. . My problem is only hard to control the distance how far it will go. Let's say, a further distance of 30 - 40 yards will be hard for me which ends up a long putt is required. Can you show us if possible how to control different distance to the green or closer to the flag. I would really appreciate. Thanks.😘
Wish I'd watched this before playing Woodhall Spa last month! Didn't get out of any bunker on the Hotchkins course! Not had much bunker issues before that day! 🤣
Hi Danny, I'm yet to practice this technique, but by far the best instructional video I've seen on you tube. Just a question. Where abouts is your aiming point before the ball and is that where you focus your eye the whole way through the shot. Cheers
Great video, Danny. Only recently discovered you on UA-cam and now I am devouring your stuff. I practiced this technique today and mostly hit skull shots over the green. Any tips to correct?
Steve Blagoue that’s normal to start with as it helps you shallow out the contact and take less sand. Once you get used to it it really improves the consistency. You also need half the effort to get the ball out. I use another technique for golfers who don’t practice much which is more of a chopping down motion, it’s great at getting the ball out on compact sand but doesn’t work when the sand is soft, requires a lot of effort and spin control is non existent. I use this as it’s easy for golfers to learn when practice time is limited
Hi Danny, with my bunker shots i am applying all your tecniche tips, but i am having trouble with my distance control? Yes i am getting the ball out, but always only just, as i think i am getting to steep with my strike on the sand behind the ball, and i don't feel as though i am completing my follow through? Also it doesn't seem to matter if i hit 2" or 4" behind the ball i still can't seem to complete the swing?
Dear Danny. The conventional way of open stance open club face has perfect logic and produces perfectly good results. Your method is complicated with its butterfly grip. Only makes a psychologically difficult shot tougher.
Danny, absolute love your videos, but this advice is very different to that which you provided in the desert. Can you help clarify which technique for bunker play is best for someone who is struggling? Thanks, amazing content.
Paul Kitchen if you are playing hard sand come down a little steeper into the sand and when it’s soft use more of what I did in the desert. Make sense?
I tried this out of the bunker this afternoon, laid the club open re gripped and splashed maybe not open enough has i ended up at far side of green on a couple of occasions halved the swing then got out and rolled a little, finding the grip useful. thanks
Roger Toye, thanks for sharing Roger, it takes a bit of time to master but you should start hitting enough great feeling shots in the short term to give you encouragement
Great video Danny. I noted that on your one shot you entered the sand about 4" behind the ball, and so many teachers say you have to hit 1 1/2" or 2" behind the ball, so do you think like Jack Nicklaus who said he was never worried about how far behind the ball he entered the sand, but he was always concerned with how deep his club went?
Hi Danny. I have been trying this technique for the last few weeks & can't seem to stop entering the sand too far behind the ball causing me to hit it fat or thin. I tend to have more knee flex than playing a normal pitch shot. Should I grip down the club when playing from bunkers?
Certainly you can also position your sternum a little bit further forward with your weight favouring your left side. This should help you catch to sound a little bit close to the ball
Great vid, I have been trying something similar but still not consistent but never seen this grip before or thought to place the but aiming towards my belly button. Will give this a try. How far behind the ball should I be hitting? Keep up the great work, cheers.
Brilliant Danny! The butterfly grip you demonstrated in this video, was/has been used by Phil mickleson for many years. And he is not a bad bunker player is he.???
Thanks Danny! You video in Dubai, where you discussed keeping the upper arm against the chest throughout the shot changed my game! My shots, especially driver, are more consistent with miss shots not being as damaging. They just are to right or left of fairway (probably aiming issue). My question regarding this video (which I'll now work on, as being a 53 yo I too, was educated to take an open stance and open face when sand saving) is how much sand based on distance do we take? Or do we just adjust the swing length to adjust length of save? Thanks again.
Great video thank you. I’ve been practicing this the last couple days and while I’m hitting it the correct distance and height, I’m pulling the shot to my left. I am hitting from firmer wet sand, could this be the cause?
Great video Danny! Excited about trying this technique. Is there a certain distance that I should be hitting the sand away from the ball? Or am I simply sliding the bounce under the ball?
Great stuff Danny, can't wait to practice it and see how it works for me. Are you advocating this type of shot for all bunker play or just those with a steep bank in front of you? And does the "clip the tee under the ball" visual still come into play on this shot? I play most bunker shots requiring quick height with a very vertical/steep swing. Comments? thanks.
Ray Theguvna, still like the tee visual and would definitely use this for all bunker shots...there’s some subtle tweaks with plug lies and very hard sand but that’s it
Hi Danny, it's me again! Sorry! I normally don't have any bother with bunkers, I played at Troon a fortnight ago and they have builders sand in their bunkers which is deep and you know you need to get it right in taken the ball out with the club at the right distance from the ball, the problem I have here at my home course is that there is not much sand in the bunkers and a lot of clay under the sand, which leads to a lot of frustration for many a golfer at our course, especially when it is a greenside bunker could you show us in how to play out of hard compact bunkers like we have here in Scotland as the bunkers are packed down with so much rain! I and many other golfers complain of the state of our bunkers, but all we get is that we should not be in there! Pros find bunkers, so what kind of answer was that?
John King great fir soft sand, just attack the sand on a steeper angle when it’s more compact. Also make sure you have the right bounce on your sand wedge. High for soft sand, low for hard
Thanks for this Danny. Can you clarify one thing for me? It looks like your swing is more upright, and a little steeper than the traditional way of teaching bunker shots. Am I right in that observation?
Hi there Danny, I just watched this video then went out to try this technique. It worked right away. I have struggled with the banker play for years. The primary issue being my own ability to keep the club face open. With this technique I’m able to keep it open and use the bounce.
Bravo! Excellent lesson once again. Can’t wait to practice that one! Thank you!
Happy to help Janice 😁
Best bunker video yet 👍

Patrick Dunphy absolutely Patrick, vertical shaft ensures you use the bounce
Graham Dunn attack the sand a little steeper so you take a little more out
What’s the loft of your wedge on this video? 60°?
Danny, I have watched many bunker videos, but this one was succinct and very valuable in teaching the basics which I know I can build on. Thanks.
Hope it helps your bunker play Jeffrey

Banyen Kirivong, that’s great, it’s great to hear a well struck bunker shot
I’m so pleased you have done this video.
I have been trying this type of bunker shot for a very long time, but I’ve been extremely inconsistent.
Watching you do the release has made me realise where I’ve been going wrong.
Off to the practice bunker before Saturday’s Medal.
Sansfaim, there’s a learning curve as it’s a very different feeling through impact but it’s soooo worth it
So what were you doing that’s different? How did you go in the medal?

Frank Schumacher it’s. Lovely sound on the sand when it comes out isn’t it 👍
Excellent tip will try it next time out. Something I have always had trouble with
Have fun Ray
Wow. It’s night time here but just went and tried it with a PW. The height the ball jumped was amazing. Great tip thanks Danny. I’ll give it a go tomorrow
Marc Armstrong, that’s great Marc, let me now how your practice goes
Danny, hopefully this video will help me regain my confidence when hitting bunker shots.
cheers danny, came across this after struggling with bunkers, tried this method and today out first time every time, even got some backspin!
gts golf brilliant, well done
Wow Danny. I’ve struggled with confidence out of bunkers. I tried this today in a match. 3 bunkers and 3 sand saves. Ball just popped out beautifully. Couldn’t believe it. The best bunker tip, EVER! Thank you.
Ronald Schrevel, awesome work Ronni...great to hear
The mini arc swing is where I get it wrong...thank you Danny...u r a gem!
Frank chiew, thanks again Frank...it’s the same arc for pitching too
Great video. Thank you . Tried this today on the course got out of the bunker well. Will continue with this technique and hopefully increase my confidence.
Roy Watton, perfect, keep me updated
Will be practicing this today as my bunker play is very hit and miss. Hopefully this will help me become more consistent. Thanks Danny.
Robert cooper, take some time to practice and you will be rewarded

P dashs brilliant...keep up the good work
Impecable.
One of your best videos. Very clearly explained. Thanks!
David Skok, thanks David, I think I missed a simple way to practice this technique but will add that to my instagram channel tomorrow
Finally a technique that makes sense and works! Thanks.
Doug Chepil, thanks for sharing Doug, there’s a learning curve as it feels different but it’s really worth it. It’s far more accurate
Used it this morning. Brilliant. Thank you
darylkc, brilliant, thanks for sharing
Another well explained video! I have no idea how to get out of the bunker and I'm in there a lot, so this helps! Now I'm excited to try this! Here's hoping for more bunkers! lol
Minh Huynh, brilliant, let me know how it goes
I watched this the other day .. as a newbie to the game I’m really struggled with bunkers… tried this grip and set up and couldn’t believe how the ball was coming out .. just once I failed out of about 12 attempts in practice… looking forward to getting in a bunker on the course now 😂
That’s great Graham glad the video helped your game 👍
This is great, I've played bunker shots this way and I 100% agree. Nice work.
My course has hard sand and steep bunkers. Difficult !! I have some work to do in the bunkers. Liked your video! I am off to the practice area. Thanks for your lessons!!!
Thank's a lot for this video. I've tried this new way to play bunkers and it works (more often) !
Marc M240, thanks for letting me know
Best find ever. 62 degree wedge. Play a lot of link style course with small deep pot bunkers near green 👍🏽
Thank you for detail. Very interesting and informative. Can't wait to try this.
jbuburuz, that’s great, let me know how you get on
I just tried this method out, not in the bunker but in the green side rough and it worked so well the ball just popped up and landed softly on the green.
Thanks for the excellent advise.
Paul Boyd, thank you Paul for taking the time to feedback
I can't wait to get out and practice this technique! Thanks Danny! 🙏
Kenneth Lin, pleasure Ken, let me know how you get on
Great video as always, Danny and what a brilliant tipp!
Watched this video this morning and tried this out during a tournament this afternoon.
The ball popped out of the bunker so easy and high!
Thank you very much!
Sönke Trzaska, my pleasure, great to hear
Danny... can you please say something about how to address an open clubface to the ball?
More towards the hosel usually?
Sönke Trzaska, address it more off the toe
Very detailed. Thank you Danny
Very welcome
Wow, watched this just yesterday then went out and put my ball to two feet from a pot bunker during my round, I call that a result! Cheers.
Amazing! Well done Stephen
Hi Danny, I’ve adopted you as my go-to virtual golf guru, congratulations! On this older video, you do not stress flexing the knees and getting much lower than for a normal shot, as you do in your more recent videos. Is there a reason for this? Thank you for all your great instructional videos.
Great to have you on board 😁I probably forgot to mention it here 👍
Danny the Master. Yes, I’m off for a bunker lesson this morning. I will try to remember your tips. Maybe I can teach the Pro 😄
Tried this method today and it saved me on 3 occasions! Great method indeed!👌
Rivaan Ajodapersad awesome news, well done
Me too!
Yet another great video Danny , think I’m going to have to work hard in the practice bunker to get this right
Richard Bailey, absolutely...the hard work will be worth it
Well Danny this is a bit different. It looks scary but all so exciting as i'm struggling big time in the bunkers. Danny Maude thanks Danny will do
Julian Roberts 35)
Love the “ mini arch “ , never heard it described like that,,,,I may finally be able to get out of the sand!!! THANKS 👍🏌🏼♂️
Alan Bolla keep me updated Alan
Will do ,,,,,
Very clear demonstration indeed!
Golf Nut, thanks a lot, I’m due to put a practice routine on my instagram channel that will really compliment it

not really apart from I may lower the loft on my club
Thanks for the tip Danny, i tend to empty the bunker of sand before the ball comes out :-(
i will practise this.
Keep them coming.
I'll take this to my game on wednesday. It looks radical but I am sure it will work. Thanks.
Shamsuddin Kassim, there’s a learning curve so try it on the practice ground first 😁
Very interesting Danny this is how I play my flop shots ! I’ll give this a go thanks mate !
WAYNE PADLEY, perfect, let me know how it goes, bunkers shots are very similar to flip shots
Nick, great idea, the shots are very similar
This video is superb! Well done, and thank you!
Thanks Robert!
I’ll try it tomorrow at Truro. Wish I lived neare Canterbury!
I was in Truro a few weeks ago
Thanks Danny, enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure John, hope it helps your bunker shots
Danny, thanks again for the great instructions. I am using 60 degree Sure-Out2 wedge, have no problem coming out of the bunker without open the club face and it goes out about 10 -15 yards. . cheers Danny, brilliant tip, will try tomorrow,
Have fun Jon
Great video Danny. Butterfly Grip = strengthen left hand and weaken right hand. Right?
Another great and helpfull video! Thanks for sharing!
Jan Mulder, thanks Jan...let me know how it goes
Hi Danny, I'm yet to practice this technique, but by far the best instructional video I've seen on you tube. Just a question. Where abouts is your aiming point before the ball and is that where you focus your eye the whole way through the shot. Cheers
Different concept, beautifully explained.
GARY REILLY, thanks Gary, appreciate it
Is this now the new line of thought for bunker play Danny?
GARY REILLY, it is indeed Gary
Another amazing video, could this be the answer to my bunker woes !!!
graham stirrst, ooooooh let me know

I use another technique for golfers who don’t practice much which is more of a chopping down motion, it’s great at getting the ball out on compact sand but doesn’t work when the sand is soft, requires a lot of effort and spin control is non existent.
I use this as it’s easy for golfers to learn when practice time is limited
Im trying this out today, thanks a lot coach!
My pleasure Kevin, let me know how it went
@@DanielMaude Very well actually, you've cured my fear for bunkers!
Where I usaly play there is not a lot of sand in the traps do I play the same way or do I play down on the ball.
Thank you in advance
Jacques
Jacques Labelle, great question...try this first and then experiment coming a little more down on the sand and see what happens
Interesting, test this one out and see how it goes, some prefer this steeper angle of attack into the bunkers
Dear Danny. The conventional way of open stance open club face has perfect logic and produces perfectly good results. Your method is complicated with its butterfly grip. Only makes a psychologically difficult shot tougher.
Appreciate the feedback Rohit and glad to know you have a way that works for you 👍
Danny, absolute love your videos, but this advice is very different to that which you provided in the desert. Can you help clarify which technique for bunker play is best for someone who is struggling? Thanks, amazing content.
Paul Kitchen if you are playing hard sand come down a little steeper into the sand and when it’s soft use more of what I did in the desert. Make sense?
danny it looks like you are not using the butterfly grip with your right hand or is it less extreme with the right cheers
I should be using it a little more than I am here
I tried this out of the bunker this afternoon, laid the club open re gripped and splashed maybe not open enough has i ended up at far side of green on a couple of occasions halved the swing then got out and rolled a little, finding the grip useful.
Thanks Danny! 🏌️♂️
Is this method applicable for attacking the greenside fringe? Where you need to flop the ball?
Azlan, Tengku it is in deed
Just found your site.Really enjoyed the video re.bunkers.Can this technique be used with bad lies as well as good?
Absolutely Donald,
Great vid, I have been trying something similar but still not consistent but never seen this grip before or thought to place the but aiming towards my belly button. Will give this a try. How far behind the ball should I be hitting? Keep up the great work, cheers.
Tony Gordon, about 2 inches will be fine 👍
Brilliant Danny! The butterfly grip you demonstrated in this video, was/has been used by Phil mickleson for many years. And he is not a bad bunker player is he.???
I would certainly take Phils short game
Thanks Danny! You video in Dubai, where you discussed keeping the upper arm against the chest throughout the shot changed my game! My shots, especially driver, are more consistent with miss shots not being as damaging. They just are to right or left of fairway (probably aiming issue). My question regarding this video (which I'll now work on, as being a 53 yo I too, was educated to take an open stance and open face when sand saving) is how much sand based on distance do we take? Or do we just adjust the swing length to adjust length of save? Thanks again.
John Antinora, adjust swing length not sand depth
R u hitting down or scooping? Please clarify? Is it a same kind of shot where you chip at tight lies near green except hitting on sand?
Hitting slightly down and gliding the club through the sand using the bounce
Great video. What's your prefered loft on the wedge - and - do you change loft if you want to play longer. ;-)
Leif Jan Petersen, here I’m using my 56 which has a 10 degree bounce, I may use a 60 wig low bounce when the sand is compact
Great video thank you. I’ve been practicing this the last couple days and while I’m hitting it the correct distance and height, I’m pulling the shot to my left. I am hitting from firmer wet sand, could this be the cause?
Maybe just check your alignment and swing direction
Aim right
this tips help me alot ✌️✌️ thanks danny
my pleasure Andy, great to hear it's helping your bunker shots
Great video Danny! Excited about trying this technique. Is there a certain distance that I should be hitting the sand away from the ball? Or am I simply sliding the bounce under the ball?
Retha-Don Ezell a couple of inches but try both and see how you get on
Great stuff Danny, can't wait to practice it and see how it works for me. Are you advocating this type of shot for all bunker play or just those with a steep bank in front of you? And does the "clip the tee under the ball" visual still come into play on this shot? I play most bunker shots requiring quick height with a very vertical/steep swing. Comments? thanks.
Ray Theguvna, still like the tee visual and would definitely use this for all bunker shots...there’s some subtle tweaks with plug lies and very hard sand but that’s it
Hi Danny would you normally use a 60 degree wedge or do you change depending on the bunker, great video by the way .
Change depending on the bunker height and distance I want the ball to travel
Thanks Danny, it seems the same bunkershot as Justin Thomas
Absolutely Rob 👍
Hi Danny, it's me again! Sorry! I normally don't have any bother with bunkers, I played at Troon a fortnight ago and they have builders sand in their bunkers which is deep and you know you need to get it right in taken the ball out with the club at the right distance from the ball, the problem I have here at my home course is that there is not much sand in the bunkers and a lot of clay under the sand, which leads to a lot of frustration for many a golfer at our course, especially when it is a greenside bunker
could you show us in how to play out of hard compact bunkers like we have here in Scotland as the bunkers are packed down with so much rain!
I and many other golfers complain of the state of our bunkers, but all we get is that we should not be in there! Pros find bunkers, so what kind of answer was that?
One question Danny, what wedge are you using in the video?
Great explanation! Thank you!
Hi Danny. Does this work for all bunkers or just ones with steep fronts. I got stuck in a bunker in a strokes comp and it cost me 9 shots.
John King great fir soft sand, just attack the sand on a steeper angle when it’s more compact. Also make sure you have the right bounce on your sand wedge. High for soft sand, low for hard
@@DanielMaude Thanks Danny.
Thanks for this Danny. Can you clarify one thing for me? It looks like your swing is more upright, and a little steeper than the traditional way of teaching bunker shots. Am I right in that observation?
Peter Morrison, possibly Peter, what I would do is experiment with different angles and see what works best for you.
Will do. Thanks.
Awesome lesson
Thank you Johnathan, hope it helps
Hahaha, at the beginning your shadow looks like a skinny leg alien! Great instruction too.
Jeremy Walker, funny, when I was doing the editing I wondered what the hell it was at first 😂
The Mini Arc is the best Tempo for the sand..Sweet...Soft sand per say
