Suddenly, after long years, I have a breakthrough and can understand what you mean. I could hear the differences in the different layers of improvisation, but didn’t understand their connections with the chord progression. Suddenly I can detect the characteristic tone of a specific chord, and that it is making music to play exactly this tone within the line of my solo. Thank you for this lesson!
Dude! Thank you…I’ve been struggling with this for a while - working arpeggios and triads but still struggling to come up with musical lines, and your “recipe” for layering gives me concrete, manageable steps to melodically follow the changes. Thank you!
I'm so thankful for TGT teaching me all of these elements and how to combine them in this layered approach. Before this, I was stuck either... 1. Transcribing songs note for note (granted I did learn a lot of technique from this along with building song repertoire) 2. From an improv standpoint, being perpetually frustrated finding instruction only on 1001 ways to visualize and play scales and never making progress.
Doesn't it? Most experienced players do these things automatically. I find it very valuable for advancing guitarists to be able to put a "recipe" together.
@@carlhuffman6792 there is an interactive version with 40+ videos available. They explain every single practice task that's in the book. You'll find that option in the book extras (QR code in book)
Just got the book the other day. It’s awesome! The chapter on mindset alone is worth the price, and applies to not just guitar but living a better life in general. Looking forward to using the structured method outlined in the book to finally get unstuck after years of playing. Thanks Ulrich!
