- Actor Steve Guttenberg stops by WGN Morning News to discuss his iconic roles, and we surprise him with a special visit from former co-star Tim Kazurinsky.
Police Academy is as great today as it always was. Timeless.
The first several are great still, some of the later PA movies not so much.
100%
there was a better reunion in a syfy movie, it was him and Michael Winslow, and the other female cop from Police Academy
it is !😂
@@greenrobot5i saw it . The female was Hooks.
Mahoney and Sweetchuck...priceless!!!
"what a lobby!!"
The Blue Oyster Bar theme is my ringtone, iconic.
LOL! If I heard that from your phone man I would’ve laughed so hard!! Classic!!
Lol
I had a DJ friend of mine drop that song in the middle of his set at a club. The older men in the club did not think it was funny.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I picture Homophobes scared of that even today😱.
My childhood . I miss the 80s
Me too😥
I know what you mean 40 now miss thoese days being a kid
@@Patriot1389 I know!! I am 47. Better movies in the 80s.
I love the 80's
Same here! 😍❤
Steve Guttenberg seems like the nicest guy, it's rare to see such a big star being so down to earth, it would be a privilege to meet him.
big star?
~Whooooo made Steve Guttenberg.... A star!~
He’s not a big star anymore so he has to be down to earth. Hasn’t been in a hit movie since 3 men and a little lady
Supposedly he left acting as some early 90s films bombed but returned after a long hiatus.
@@brianlogsdon4824 everyone retires
I feel so blessed to be raised in the 80s where the best movies and music came from!!🙏🙏🙏
Amen to that.
@that LIGHT in YOU well, people in the 80's had parents who listened to music from the 50's and 60's
There's always good music out there. What's in the top 40 is like a fraction of music being made. Yeah I have 80s nostalgia cause those were my teen years I get it
We had it good. We were weaned on Steven Spielberg & George Lucas movies and shows like Dukes of Hazzard & Knight Rider. And we were really like the kids in Goonies - we'd get on our bikes & go out for adventure while Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters", Cindi Lauper, & Michael Jackson vids aired nonstop on MTV. And you'd better believe, "Police Academy" movies were as essential viewing as the BTTF trilogy & any movie written by John Hughes. They were truly the good old days.
Same
Police Academy is one of the best funniest movies ever made
If it was the only movie you ever watched, sure
“You make me SICK”
“Thank you sir, I make everybody sick” 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
It was nice to see that Steve was genuinely happy to see his friend from the Police Academy movies. He even asked about his wife by name!
His wife was also playing a cadet in police academy 3
Police academy, Short circuit, Cocoon and many more, Steve was top in the 80s
He was also fantastic in Nick Meyer's "The Day After".
Many many many more
What happened
His stardom was down to the “Stonecutters”
@@hotrodd29 lol Exactly. They doooooo, they dooooo. They also rig every oscar night.
All those years since Police Academy 4 and this guy still has that adorable "Mahoney grin"!
This man just put me in a good mood.
His energy jumps out of the screen.
It's easy to see why he was picked to star in so many 80's movies.
I agree Police Academy is one of the movies you could watch a hundred times and still watch it again and laugh. Jones was my favourite character.
Here in Finland every year at least once, no complaining though.
I love how they're so happy to see each other. Melts my heart
MOVE IT
MOVE IT
MOVE IT
one of the greatest films of the 80s absolute class
Wasn't there a rumor HG Baily was drunk on set in the latter PA movies?
when they put ink on his bullhorn.
PROCTOR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should make another sequel with the original cast that are still with us. But now they are all the senior officers pranking the newbies. Police Academy: Teaching the new recruits!
Police Academy is pound for pound, still the funniest film of the 1980s, no doubt about it. Stone cold classic. I was there at the cinema in 1984 and the audience laughter was unreal lol.
I can imagine how the party scene went?
RIP - Hightower - Lassard - Tackleberry - Fackler - Hooks - Martin
Fackler isn't dead
@@NemesisOkoye Mrs. Fackler is, though. Had a bad drinking problem. Too bad, I always thought she was cute.
@@williamshaw9047 oh. And don't forget House. He passed in 2007.
and Mrs Feldman ... :-(
Did you know Callahan is the mother in The Rob Zombie horror trilogy
I've always felt a connection with Steve... We were born on the same day in 1958....
Love how cool Guttenberg is giving his chair to Kazurinsky and then sharing it with him lol
Mannn, his voice still sounds young even tho he old 🥺
They should do. Police Academy with Mahoney as the Commandant.
YES!!!
Sounds like a Great idea to me!! 😎🇺🇸🎥🎞🎬
They took karate kid back as cobra kai and its very cheesy, but doing well.
Police academy 2022. Lassard - Will Ferrell, Cpt. Harris - Jim Carrey, Hightower - Shaquille O'neal, Mahoney -Jason Sudeikis, Now..i would watch that.
@@goranhrastovik5364 instead of Shaq, maybe Terry Crews instead.
I remember seeing Steve Guttenberg in my favorite movie ..... "High Spirits" in 1988. I can watch this movie over and over again and never get tired of it.
Sweetchuck spinning around with the cast on and knocking out the punk is hilarious 🤣
Hahahaa!! Yeah love that part! Love that punch!!😆
him and Bobcat Goldthwait made for a great team.
@@SiccDeville Lmao 😂🤣😅 Truth. Love their chemistry.
Looks like he is pretty much Mahoney in real life - priceless.
Favorite scene was when he switched mausers shampoo with tackle berry’s plastic repair epoxy in a bottle 😂🤣 also from short circuit
Raul Cabrera That's the sequel Part 2 when Capt.Mowser put the epoxy in his hair coming out of the shower Jones was barking like Stoolmans dog Lou and Mowser is pissed off royally. That's a classic gag.
and the song he sings............ Captain Mowsers a Wowzer!!!
I remember I laughed so hard it hurt, may even have peed a little
And they'll say Mauser, Mauser, Yauser, oh yeah.... Oh yeah.... Oh...oh...🧖🏼♂️😂😂😂
This is a great interview. Gutenberg has great energy and seems honestly excited and willing to be there. A lot of stars are aloof and seem stuck up. This guy has a great attitude!
Watching the Police Academy movies on our VCR with my father back in the day was one of my fondest childhood memories...
What a legend! I was brought up in the 80s and now my teen son is 80s mad. From music to films you make people love not hate!!!
I was born in 1973. I grew up absolutely loving Steve Guttenberg! Police Academy. Cocoon. 3 men & a baby... He was always endearing, charismatic & so cute! ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you Steve for decades of entertainment 👊
Sweetchuck!!!! So glad to see he’s good. Still watch the police academy to this day, even the cartoon. Miss the 80’s!
loved the cartoon with the theme song sung by Fat Boys.
Steve Guttenberg is a comic genius! He was fantastic in dramatic roles as well. He was outstanding in 1978's The Boys From Brazil.
Short circuit. Nuff said
Look closely...He blinked his eyes in his death scene 😏
Don´t forget "The Day After"!
Cocoon ❤
@@Stewieboy1995 ikr. He is in some of the greatest movies ever beside PA.
Timeless laughter and action film 📽️🎥 series. With the most funny actors ever 🤣😂🤪👍.
I always liked him and also in Cocoon and Three Men and a Baby, too.
I have watched Police Academy a hundred times. I love this movie.
Steve is always a great guest and such a generous interviewee.
He still has that delightful mischievous smile!
Nice interview. Steve Guttenberg is genuinely appreciative.
I miss the 80's! Great times.😔
during the outbreak me and my family watch all movies 1-7 it was amazing wish they made more
Steve has certainly aged but he still has that charming smile that brightens the day of anyone watching him.
I know hasn't he was shock because he was good looking
@@allylou5151 if you think that’s ageing badly take a look at the once- very- handsome C Thomas Howell now! That kid, Ponyboy, now resembles a granddad! He aged very fast even in his forties he was attractive but after 50 he just went so old!
Sweetchuck is alive!!!! We remember him when he was messed in The First Assignement by Zed (Bobcat Goldthwait) as the gang boss before to make the comic duo in the third and fourth movie.
" Go around, me. Go around".
I love the part when Mahoney taught Hightower how to drive. 😃
Still has a really young voice. I'm from the 90s but grew up with a lot of 80s movies and music. 80s were just the best!
What a humble guy!
these guys are comedic geniuses, I have watched these movies over and over and over for years.
Just wholesome. Police Academy still holds up.
Kazurinsky was solid on SNL in the early '80s, the Murphy/Piscopo years. Very underrated comic actor.
Wow! Tim Kazurinsky actually looked pretty good in 2019. I always assumed he was already a middle aged guy in the Police Academy movies.
They need to bring Steve Guttenberg back to mainstream movies.
They really do.. I wouldn't have recognised him if I passed him on the street since I just expect him to look like he did in police accedmy
@@mullaoslo unless you watch lots of classic movies. I always spot "stars" in Hollywood in public ha nobody notice them just me.
Steve Guttenberg has got to be the happiest guy. God bless 'em.
I love Steve Guttenberg. A real talent and such a joy to watch. Very humble, too.
I was born in 1995, in my generation! I shouldnt have grown up with the Guttenberg! But, growing up I LOVED the police academy, three men and a baby and It Takes Two. This man shows such warmth and likeability on screen! I just automatically adored his voice and charisma. Even if he doesn't work often now! I will NEVER stop watching his movies.
Hey are we related? Just kidding
Guttenberg was also in the big green
I grow up watching Police Academy movies Mahoney Sweetchuck those two brings me back memories ✌😎
Sweetchuck
R.I.P. “Hooks.”😔😔😔😔😔
Omg nooo not hooks 😢. Love her and Hightower in the movie :(
There was a flashback on Brooklyn 99 where a criminal was called dirtbag, I thought it was a nod to Hooks. She came right to mind. DON'T MOVE, DIRTBAG!
Hooks is no more?
NOOOOOOOOOOOO😭.
Hightower, Tackleberry, E. Lassard, and now Hooks, the Reunion thinking was too late on the clock :/
I absolutely loved watching this clip. The positive energy is what I need in my life right now.
I'll never forget how much I instantly loved this movie when I first saw it. I saw it twice on opening day.
One of the movies with adult contents that made into a cartoon.80s as its finest.
It's so amazing to see these guys now. I grew up with these Jokers! :)
We should all aim to be as happy, enthusiastic and excited as Steve!
I have watched 1-4 so far on Netflix this week. But I saw every one of these in the theater when I was younger. I enjoy seeing actors reminisce the expressions on their faces you can just see them light up.
I just did a marathon of these movies , love em and they still hold up very well.
Same
Yeah do marathon in December 2023
They both seem great down to earth guys and Steve has got a great memory for things too.
So great these 2 meeting up again, it brings back fantastic memories.
Remembering, Marion Ramsay, Pete Lassard PA2, Art/ Capt Mauser who passed recently. ♥

A delight to watch. The Police Academy movies was a major part of my childhood. They'll outlive us all.
I’ve watched the Police Academy movies so many, many, many, many times over...
Dude never stopped talking. I was expecting him to just take over and start giving the news.
My smile just emerge from ear to ear when I saw them togeather. Man I miss the 80ths and my youth. Better times, fun times lighthearted and no fing whining all the time. I thank life for having lived then.
Steve Guttenberg was my childhood movies and beyond! Thank you Steve for your incredible work!!!
What a super nice guy
RIP Marion 'Hooks' Ramsey. I love the Police Academy films which don't seem to date.
Bubba Smith died awhile back too.
@@victorysaber1608 How many of the cast are still alive?
@@anthonyellis987 I know Procter n the first guy ate still acting. Steve obviously. Im pretty sure tackleberry is dead. I saw the hood top of the car wife recently in a show. I dont know if callhad is still alive. Easterbrook. She didn't do much acting. The Japanese guy is alive. The captain with the goldfish issue is long dead. God knows bobcats still alive. The replacement Mahoney is still alive. I think only the 400 lb black guy is dead from that group. I saw Michael in a commercial recently the voice noises guy. Michael Winslow I believe is his real name. Obviously Kim cattrell still alive. Even supposedly helping reboot sex n the city. I dont intentionally look to see if they're alive I watch TV n stuff n obituriaries n see if I recognize them. Its like a mental activity to stay active. Especially in covid times. His names eluding me but the first trainer with proctor was on that tnt show, and then the reboot after the main female left. So hes still acting. And as I said proctor was in a show recently n I freaked out like wow he looks very similar to so long ago.
@@victorysaber1608 tackleberry died of a heart attack like 20 years ago. Only 51 or so. Awful
We can see here not actors only but true family!!! ♥️👏🏼
Love these movies, ik had a crush on Steve!😍Still have, Live in Holland😥.I will never meet him.
I had and still have a huge crush on a actor from your part of the world the late great Rutger Hauer!! He was gorgeous!
I watched Cocoon for the first time in a long time recently. It’s pure magic
I love it too. A special movie for sure.
That's when Ron Howard was on a pretty good streak. Night Shift, Splash, Gung Ho...
RIP the rest of the cast that has passed on.
Btw Steve is and still is one of the funniest cast members in the Police Academy Series. Could deliver those lines like it was natural.
"You make me sick"
Thank you sir, I make everyone sick" 🤣
Heart warming to see this kind of reunion of two old buddies.
80's American movies....
More than movies, they were cultural moments we will never forget, and Police Academy epitomised the feel-good factor forever.
I love all the police academy movies, although 7 is hardest to watch.
I just love this man's enthusiasm. He really was PERFECT for the role as Carey Mahoney and he still has that sparkle in his eyes :) The Police Academy movies and Short Circuit were my childhood and i had nothing but fun with these films. I have nothing but respect for this man and wish i could tell him that personally and how thankful i am for all the great time. So great he's still in contact with his co-actors :D That is so sweet!!
So IFC just finished running a Police Academy marathon. Caught the last few minutes of “Back in Training” and all of “Citizens on Patrol”.
I’m a fan of Tim Kazurinsky and Bobcat Goldthwait’s on screen chemistry. Tim’s meek Sweetchuck character paired with the outrageous and sarcastic Zed is, to me, comedy gold. It was however bittersweet to watch the end of part four. Specifically because it was the end of the Guttenberg era of Police Academy. The films would go on, of course, but both the budgets and box office returns would decrease. The producers and cast were fortunate enough to make another three films, and a television series. I am grateful for the Police Academy films, as they were a joyful part of my childhood. They also happen to be really funny.
RIP David Graf, Bubba Smith, George Gaines, Marion Ramsey and Art Metrano.
I could watch over and over and over!! Never gets old, Police Academy was the best and is still
The Police Academy series was SO GREAT. I absolutely loved the movies.

Blue Oyster would never be allowed now it makes fun of LGBTQ and the woke would be outraged- I support the LGBTQ movement but my god Blue Oyster was funny !!!
if Steve would dump that old man's haircut and suit, he literally still retains EVERY bit of his youthful self, his eyes, his voice, way of speaking, energy, enthusiasm, he literally has the same mindset of a 21 year-old and I mean that in a good way, he's amazing ♥

Ok boomer
@@danielstack4158 ok moron. I bet u don't know what is a boomer.
Well.. the first was great.. the sequels are so bad..
That's because whether they were good or bad, their primary purpose was to entertain, not to preach political rhetoric.
Aaawwww.. so sweet brothers! I really miss two guys so much!
This SMILE is still the same :)
Steven as “ Steven “ in The Day After was an overlooked performance. Epic actor.
Try watching him in The Bedroom Window. He's completely out of his element in a mystery/thriller. Don't get me wrong I like the guy, but he was totally miscast in that movie. Looked like he was trying not to laugh most of the time.
