Kyle Douglas has also left PSE for Bowtech, that also says a volume for where PSE are heading. I have switched from PSE to Elite because the Elite bows (Rezult) are so much easier to tune. It will be interesting to see how Hansen goes with a Matthews as clearly it didn't work as well for Jesse Broadwater! I think it's a shame that one manufacturer (Hoyt) can flood the market with free bows, a lot of top shooters here in WA are shooting Hoyts for that very reason. Would be good to see other manufacturers oepning that door as well. Cheers Steve for posting this video, and hope your surgery goes really well.

Well, both Jesse Broadwater and Braden Gellenthien also departed Mathews for Hoyt and Darton respectively. Wonder if one could also say something about the state of Mathews given that. These people bounce between companies all the time so I wouldn't be too worried.

I’ve been shooting PSE for years and will continue for many more. My EVL34 for hunting is perfect but I will say that I prefer my PerformX3D to my Citation so maybe performance did have a small impact on his decision but I’d be willing to bet the check from Mathew’s was larger.

Honestly your reviews are huge in how I picked my bows. However, your reviews have intrigued me to try other than just PSE bows I may have not have in the past. Because a Pro changes is no influence on me. That said I really enjoy Chris Bee who is currently with Mathew’s. Even still if I was to ever get a Mathew’s or any of them, it would be because somewhere I felt they delivered more of what I wanted.

I don’t choose a bow based of who is shooting what at the time. However I feel that if you really examine the top archers really well you can generally sense which ones shoot a similar style of shot to you. This does point me in certain directions. However being left handed with a 32” draw sometimes makes up your mind for you. Unless you want to wait up to 8 months for a bow. My Supra rocked up after 8 months and 2 days later PSE dropped the RTX😂 always the way I suppose. I think those of us who aren’t sponsored are lucky in a way as we can shoot whatever we want. Whilst I think it is good that Hoyt is sponsoring people over here I also think that it is sad that they are the only ones. In the ACT region sponsorship isn’t even a thing. I can’t even get proper coaching.

Hi Stephan: Hope your going to Vegas this year for the archery shoot. I’d like to meet you……So, whew….where to begin. I have a Mathews TRX36, a Hoyt Stratos36 and,……an Elite Rezult36 plus an Elite Verdict. I started out being a Hoyt guy..still like them but, I feel that Elite is better for me. The Elite bows are more forgiving and I feel more confident holding the bow back. Don’t ever feel like it’s going to “lunge” forward on me if I start getting a little tired. SO….I will be bringing my Elite Result for my first Vegas shoot and hope I do well….hope to see you there! (FYI..I live in the USA/INDIANA.)

Who knows, bud. I wonder if the company itself has changed enough to make them harder to work with? I'll tell you this - when I bought a Supra in 2019, the owners manual was very detailed on the cams, let's offs, bow dimensions etc. I just got an Omen and the owners manual tells me NOTHING about the bow at all. It doesn't even tell me what rotating cam letter relates to what draw length and what let off change is available on the string stop, which is insane! To be that lazy about the manual might indicate some kind of level or approach to service! I put in a feedback on their site and got no response to any of this yet.

A good shooter can shoot just about any brand bow well. It usually comes down to money. I never followed pro archers careers so they don't have any influence over what I buy or like. One of the top bow manufacturers makes a relentless amount of commercials and there is a dealer on every street corner around here and I still don't shoot their product but that is what sways a lot of people. I had a guy say his bow was way better than mine. I said why is it better? He couldn't answer the question. That's what a saturation of the market can do to sway people to their products.

  • @kennethosborne6497

As with this time every year, we see several top name Pro archers changing brands. The big brands of course want to attract the ones who influence sales, & they go where the money is, as their career amongst the top earning money is short-lived. We are already seeing the brand marketing at work, advertising some brag worthy results by recent changes, particularly Darton. Can't see a pro archer changing to a new bow they disliked though.

I don't think it'll impact much. Stephen is good, but he hasn't been as popular since the days of being at the top with Mike Schlouser. He competes in the 3d circuit here in the US and makes some podiums, but not many. Kyle left, as did Sharon Wallace and her husband, both great shooters. PSE did pick up Kris Schaaf, so see how that goes. PSE is definitely lost in the target game. I'm not sure about the hunting side. In my opinion, these pros can win with whatever it's the company they choose or walk away from. It's just a weird feeling about what's going on at PSE. No facts, just weird to me

For me the pro’s have some impact as more of a target archer but it mostly comes down to what bow meets the specs I want/need and draw cycle. As I don’t like a huge dump in to the valley. I will shoot what is most comfortable and what I shoot best with even if it’s an old bow. Pro’s do play a bit more of a part in what bows I will consider in adding to my list of bows to shoot to see how I like the bow. I will rule out a bow if there isn’t anyone shooting one at a high level at all such as Martin for quite a while.

Hi everyone, for me his move to PSE has nothing to do with the material. The professionals live from the sponsorship contracts, among other things, and wherever you get a better offer, you go. Don't many of us do the same? The pros, in my opinion, shoot well with any bow. I think every manufacturer hopes for more sales the more pros they have under contract. The trick is to make us believe that the bow shoots better because a lot of pros shoot the bow. But well, a car is not automatically better because the manufacturer has more employees. I wish Stephan the best of luck.

Thanks for hitting on this. I thought a similar thing. Amy struggled with the evolve cam bow as well. Even went to a drop away rest. I'll be honest. I struggled with the evolve cam bows when they first came out. I was on field staff with PSE and it was a dream come true. When it got to the point that I just wasn't making the scores I could I decided not to resign up and went to another brand. A few years later I ended up with a xpression 3d and everything fell back into place for me. I have stuck with the EXT and HD cam bows since and always shoot very well. I have bowtech and Hoyt and Athens as well and do well with them. Just not as well as I shoot that hybrid cam PSE. I have however gotten better at tuning and a better mental game so I'll be looking at a newer PSE this year. As for Stephen leaving.. it sucks. I'll admit I'm a fan boy. But I won't be heading out for a mathews. Instead I'll be looking for a xpression 40 or a perform X in green as tribute.

Maybe for younger and newer archers it is a sales draw, but I don't care myself who is shooting what brand. I will take the word of archers I trust and go try out new bows/accessories and see what I think. There are, I suppose, some fans that love a championship figure and will follow them to whatever brand they shoot just to maintain the common link they feel with that champ.

What i do is when i watch world archery shooters ( hunting videos too )...i study them shooting...the cameras pick up a lot... Target archery has little impact on archery companies. They honestly loose money I would bet on sponsoring certain shooters. Mathews has always put up a ton of money for shooters. Hence why the control the target archery market. Hunting bows control sales in US. Actually I would bet that the average hunter has No Idea who Levi Morgan is. Just my 2 cents.

I think PSE has lost their way. They where the value for money manufacturer, bow at all price points but recently their prices have exploded and are churning out the same old bows. Take the “ GREATEST BOW EVER “ for example, gone back to a painted riser, reduced axle diameter, removed the limb lock tech still no fixed roller guide and still use the same limb profile. Why would they not look at a parallel limb target set up?
