To all the people chirping the crowd: if you've ever been to a three day music festival in the hot July sun you'll understand why they look dead. This was one of the better live shows I had seen that year for sure!
you cant go hard on every single gig when on 3 days festival in summer. Not even while on drugs. Such a lovely gig is great to sit down, sip some good cold beer and just enjoy. Well said sir
that drummer is beyond talented jesus. every beat was perfect and expressive. this whole band knows how to express and manifest energy in their performance
Bruh this makes appreciate Kanye west’s flashing lights and I already vibed to the song but Those chords are truly beautiful put together. And bbng helps emphasize that in this performance
LOL OMG THIS PERFORMANCE IS FROM MY CITY AND MY FRIEND IS JUST CHILLIN IN THE FRONT ROW IM FUCKING DYING THE TAN DUDE IN THE FRONT WITH BLACK SUNGLASSES
Jazz was about doing something new... if we keep playing the same old stuff from back in the day we aren't doing anything new or cool... so respect goes to artists like BBNG who indeed ARE trying to re-invent jazz for the more contemporary masses.
In defense of the crowd, I'm not sure I would have been doing much else than just stand and look with my mouth agape seeing how crazy good the drummer is.
If you look at him and see his incredible technical skill in the OF sessions, or some other BBNG videos, you will see that the tempo loss is purely just him putting extra gusto into the song. And the mere fact that the band organically remains tight during the tempo changes makes the music better, at least giving it a more intense crescendo aesthetic.
i can back you up on that its just you can tell their hip-hop influence is very present in their music and dynamics isn't a huge factor in that type of music, a band like that is the roots they play very well musically(not saying their playing stuff like bbng they just came to mind) its just part of the hip-hop sound to keep the dynamic hitting, but if they can find away to incoporate the jazz fluidity into their hip-hop jazz fusion then i will call them pure geniuses, but their still awesome
Fair enough. As far as my opinion goes, what BBNG are doing is make jazz feel young/fresh once again, something that Miles Davis always aspired, he never played his previous stuff, he really wanted to make jazz evolve and fit in to younger generations. Some may call that going commercial, but if you listen to Miles, you will understand. Mind you, BBNG are not the only jazz band that are doing fresh music, but name me a couple of jazz bands that have young kids watching them live.
@dbdakid i was there and in i guess you could say second or third row and it was really frustrating with everyone not moving but it was sick when everyone was finally jumping. Always been a fan of bbng
if it's jazz you dont like its jazz you dont like. you cant argue that it doesnt use jazz chord arrangements and you cant argue that is simple. its awesome give the group the respect they deserve.

You're commenting on a 5 year old video, check them out now.
lol my first thought was ugh he's all over the place
Yeah lol same thought. Sped up too much. Coulda knocked this jam out the park if he was tapped in
@@brognarly3827 i mean its not like he wasnt meant to change tempo, listen to the recording of their cover all of this is pretty spot on.
Maybe you've never seen JD Beck
BBNG went from playing covers of Kanye West to playing covers of Kanye with him being present.
sauce ?
@@ChiefinCherry Check out the Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring-Summer 2019 Fashion Show, they played Ghost Town in front of him
Love the SM57 recording a mic stand. The secret to their unusual sound.
Bruh this makes appreciate Kanye west’s flashing lights and I already vibed to the song but Those chords are truly beautiful put together. And bbng helps emphasize that in this performance
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands!
Man, I have this on repeat. Just absolutely love the sound. I miss live shows in person. Can't beat the energy
Saw these guys last year at Parklife and it was hands down one of the best sets I've ever seen
Saw them at Evolve 2014, and I completely agree with you.
Flashing Lights forced me to follow Kanye's career. BBNG exploit expertly the musicality in the original. BBNG play expertly. Lawd bless 'em.
Saw this band last year, was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I've been basically watching the drummer all the concert.
I love watching people try to dance to this.
LOL OMG THIS PERFORMANCE IS FROM MY CITY AND MY FRIEND IS JUST CHILLIN IN THE FRONT ROW IM FUCKING DYING THE TAN DUDE IN THE FRONT WITH BLACK SUNGLASSES
I wanna see them play with King Krule, that be cool
the bassist reminds me of badger from breaking bad
haha
river dance!
Brandon Mayhue tyvm
I've liked this band for years how is this the first time I've found this?!?

One of the many highlights of this beautiful weekend! Incredible.
This goes insanely hard

They should do a Death Grips cover that'd be sick!
not their style, think won't happen
After that the drums would look like a dog used them as a chew toy :/
I think they did use some parts of death grips tracks before.
YES
@@MMrCharles2789130 Figures you would comment, they come out the woodwork upon their calling.
majestic
i've never seen any instrumental band do this with the audience, really amazing, i hope i can get this vibe from ppl with my band too.
check out Lightning Bolt's live shows
So good, lively crowd too! Can't wait to see these guys this summer at Evolve festival :)
One of the best tracks of the past years! A total mind traveler!
Way to go guys!
I like what these guys are doing... it's fresh. But over time I hope that they incorporate a sense of restraint and dynamics into their music.
they ended up doing this but I think theyre pretty restrained here except during the blistering freakout and i wouldnt have it another way :)
the mic is right next to the drums so that makes the mix weird i think
I get chills every time I listen to this.
that drummer is a god
Best recording i've heard of this song. The way they play it at least.
12 years later this video still goes so crazy

I wish I could like this more than once!
So much emotion
This was in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
They are so Jazz, so hip hop, so punk, so music :)
Much good, so not bad :)
This has some amazing drumming. Love the drummer not to say that they're not all good but the drumms give me goose bumps.
And I appreciate the effort to get the docile crowd moving, it was killing me in the beginning.
majesticc
Excited to see where these guys are in a decade.
Yeah
1 more year
here we are
at 2:40 i have goose bumps on my goose bumps. i could listen to that everyday!
Vengo del fragmento de ñam ñam extravaganza de Richie O Farril, gran curador de música 👌
Amazing. I've got this on repeat
Listening to this while high...... i think i need to change my underpants!
End of the song gets me so hype
those cymbals... oh my
just amazing
Fucking amazing, I could hear this all day
drummer killed it

Wow! Just got into you guys. Friggin' love this shit. If I were there, I'd be a jumping, mumma. What a cool vibe. Big!!!

amazing show honestly wish i could go to one
these guys are incredible
This band wouldn't be half as good without the drummer. He is seriously one of the best new drummers in music right now.
3rd day of a festival will do that to you. hahaha
if it's jazz you dont like its jazz you dont like. you cant argue that it doesnt use jazz chord arrangements and you cant argue that is simple. its awesome give the group the respect they deserve.
wtf, so much energy maaaaannnn
Awesome!
8 minutos de mi vida bien aprovechados
@gustavo cerati ojo aquí se parece mucho a bocanada 👀
Also thoroughly impressed that the crowd actually managed to maintain the beat. A rarity.
they’re watching BADBADNOTGOOD, i’m sure like 90% of the people in that crowd are musicians or avid music fans lol
Fantastic music!
Que mal vender esta canción a Q West, porque ya no encuentras la versión de estudio en redes.
Wonder how he got the sv-1's strings sounding so nice
this is just unbelievable
astounding!
Seriously! So good!
7:20 dope
sweet, really nice...digging those drums, kicking it at 2:42. tight
Is this in Guelph Ontario?
Jazz is about expressing your own ideas, thats what it about.
so gold!
I couldn't imagine the hype for when they did "Hard In Da Paint"! What James Blake song did they do?
The drummer's style is what makes their music for me, honestly.
Why this isn't on Spotify ffs 🙇🏻♂️😭
precious
beautiful
drummer killin it
holy shit
Is it just me or is the bass barely even audible?
the sound is not soundboard, it's just straight outta camera, that's why. Plus, he's behind the drummer.
I can hear it quite well, dunno
Check out some other vids though... the bassist is as nuts as the other 2
amazing!!!
Holy....cow.
Sick stuff
what kind of keyboard is the one on top? I already own the one on the bottom.
Do they only cover songs? Because this is a Kanye west track and most of the other vids I've seen are remade odd future tracks
no they have a good amount of awesome originals too, that's what most of there new stuff has been
The new album is 100% original content if you did not know my good sir
good music.
so dope
FffffFFFUHUHUHUUUCCCCKKK AMAZING
se escucha como el oio!!!
amen
All of them are too good
Yes, I know them. They're totally BBNG influenced, they're nice to hear, but I'd like them more if they'd find a more original sound.
sweeet baby jesus that was gold
goosebumps
WOOOW!
what cymbals is the drummer using?
sabian
awesome damn
So sad I don't have money nor opportunity to watch them live, hope they stay based till I have conditions to do so!
wish i was there!
Wow, these guys are good.
the best!
