I recall my sister getting the same blackboard. Also remember the wind-up toy car that I inadvertently entangled her hair in. Hid under bed for the rest of the day. My mom after me with the business end of a broom. Age 82 here. Sis passed away couple of years ago. Miss her.
This film is a treasure! My dad was 16 and mom was 13. Their families could never have afforded a movie camera then. In fact we never had one. The film looks better than some filmed in the 50s and 60s.
Eastman Kodak released the first 16 mm "outfit" in 1923, consisting of a camera, projector, tripod, screen and splicer, for US$335 (equivalent to US$5,328 in 2021). RCA-Victor introduced a 16 mm sound movie projector in 1932, and developed an optical sound-on-film 16 mm camera, released in 1935.
Financially it caught up with them a little later than most.... But they had to give up their house and for the next number of years kept moving and renting.
Wow, this is so cool. My Dad wasn't even born till 2 1/2 years after this was filmed. Amazing footage. Was this colorized, or did he use actual color movie film? That would have been rare for home movies. In any case this was very interesting to see. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing !
What a great mother, if only we could go back.

the baby doll in the bathinette is wonderful. doll collectors would love her.
I love the playpen filled with wrapping paper! My mom was 13 and my MIL was 5 in 1938.
Great video. Thanks for sharing this film.
This is wonderful. My parents ( long gone now) were 9 and 12 years of age in 1937. Somehow , watching this makes me feel closer to them. ♡ ♡
i didn't know they had movie cameras back in 1937. i love this. wish we could go back in time.

1937......little did they know what was to come 4 years later.
Great decor
I looked up the property location and the house is estimated to be well over 800k.
I'm surprised it's still standing after nearly 90 years.
I had that exact blkboard. 1954
These people lived pretty well during the Great Depression!

@@Archive16haha oh well, you can’t live beyond your means
My mother was 10. Unfortunately, she passed away many years ago. I wish I could ask her how her Christmases were.😢
I am extremely grateful to have these.
That baby is about 85 now and his big sister is probably around 90.
Big sister turned 88 this month the baby is 80

How is that possible if this film is 86 years ago?
Great stuff by the way. And glad they're still around!
Wait if they are only 2 years apart wouldn't the baby be 86-87 and the sister would be 88-89?
What a beautiful family
Thank you very much
