Christmas isn't the same when all those loved ones you established wonderful memories with are no longer around. How I would love to spend another x-mas holiday with my grandparents! They are very much missed.
I was 11 in Christmas 1971. By the time I was in my mid '20's I had lost all my immediate family - both parents and all 4 grandparents. In the years afterward, I appreciated more and more the love and sacrifices they all gave for me and for one another. How I have wished as an older adult I could go back, hug them and tell them all how blessed I was to have them and how they were beloved by me.
I was 7 christmas 71, such happy memories, but makes me so sad thinking of my mam and dad, and grandparents, sadly missed. ❤ Id love to have one last Christmas all together😢 xx
I was 6. We were your average London family but we all used to go to my mum's brother Pete's huge country house in Guildford every Christmas. There must have been about 20+ of us. We'd stay for three days. I have wonderful memories of it. Strangely my fondest memory is of Nanny Vera who was my mums brothers wife's mother (complicated!) who would sit in a high backed chair drinking port and lemon, smoking like a trooper and hacking a laugh that I can still hear to this day 😀 I really hope you have a great 2024 Christmas. Enjoy your memories.
I was nine . What a wonderful time. Christians was very special to everyone. Everything was closed . There was spirit in the air. The people were different. Nothing at all like today. I count myself as one of the most blessed people in human history to live in that time. Very special club. No one can understand unless they were there.
Beautiful video!! I was 11 in 1971 and remember so much of this, I began to cry it was like stepping back in time and then the ending of your Mom's grave made me cry even more....I understand missing them so much....absolutely beautiful and thank you!!!
I've been without family for decades, and now with few friends left, so viewing this rekindled some warm moments seemingly long forgotten. The outdoor scenes took me right back to our country home (before we eventually became city bound). Could feel the chill in the air and remember the trudging uphill to get one more go at a downward slide -- like it was just yesterday. Thanks for sharing.
I was a toddler in 1971, and living on a base in the Carolinas. There is a photo of me in a sailor suit, standing before the Christmas tree with a very pensive expression, but also a photo of me in our very green backyard laughing.
I was 9 in 1971. This could have been the house of 50 different people I knew. We had the ugly drapes, the rocking chair, console TV, big tree, family gathered in their PJs opening presents, dog joining in. We even had a toboggan and a hill at the park a block and a half away. I feel like it'll never be that way again, and that's a damned shame.
What a great video. I was 13 in 1971 so this brought back a ton of memories for me. Beautiful family and gorgeous tree. Gotta love those drapes LOL. Loved the music.... sounded like Sinatra. TY. Merry Christmas :)
I can remember having many of Christmas like this People up north seem to get into the sperits more The atmosphere in Florida is just lost down here My father's gone my brother is gone and Christmas Is just not the same with palm trees and sunshine And 80 degree weather
1973 I was 6 and got a *mustard colored cardigan* and thought it was the _best thing in the world_ LOL! I also got roller skates and Tinker Toys too! Great video! The tree is charming and sentimental... not designer or pretensions. Love that vintage wrapping!
I have the same rocking chair! Inherited from my parents. The wrapping paper is awesome. I love vintage patterns, art work. Wonderful family film. Thanks for sharing!
I was 10.....one of the magical Christmases I can remember. I got a cool chemistry set the year before and got the microscope I was asking for this year. Very fun time to be a kid.
What a wonderful video. Brings back so many memories. I only wish I had one of my own family like this so I could see my long departures family members again.
My mama died 2 wks before Christmas 1971! I had 4 little children & it was the hardest thing I ever had to do was to be jolly for my babies! But,I did it!
Loved the video,, except when I opened gifts as a child in 1971 it was 100% toys and candy, not the more practical gifts of clothing. Yes, my brothers and sisters were probably spoiled, but at the end of opening presents the entire living room was full of toys and we were in seventh heaven. Thankfully we captured some of it with the 9mm camera (no sound) and they are simply precious.
I never heard that song before, but it tells the truth. Whatever happened to Christmas, not like it used to people had dinner and people dressed up. You're a stop family got together. Just not the same. Anymore everybody's in a hurry
That's the way it was when I was a young teenager and that bicycle 26 inch bike. I got one of those when I was 10 boy. Did it bring back memories? Thank you
Me too I got a 26 inch bike on my 10th Christmas, and it was the bi. Took it out in the snow 10 inches. Tried to drive down the middle of the road. Foul and broke my horn , but it was great
Kids so happy receiving clothes! Hopefully there were some toys mixed in there! 😄 Thanks for sharing these memories! For a second, I felt like you filmed my home at Christmas! Btw: The gravestones at the end is a real downer!
Soap on a robe , itchy jumpers , satsumas in socks , cheap perfume from Wollies my sister’s speciality 😫 , sprouts ect ect. I take it this is American because it looks really lush. The Uk was different.
Awe....so beautiful ❤ I asked alexa who sang the song😊 .Was this michigan? Where it was filmed? So sweet the excitement for the gift of the robe.🎄Thank you for sharing
If I recall correctly for Christmas 71 I got my favorite toy at the time. It was Fort Apache, a metal play set that folded out into a fort. It came with cavalry soldiers, horses and yes Indians. 😂 I can only imagine the woke virtue signallers today having a fit over this toy.😂
Christmas isn't the same when all those loved ones you established wonderful memories with are no longer around. How I would love to spend another x-mas holiday with my grandparents! They are very much missed.
I feel that way about my grandparents and my parents. 😢❤
Amen.
It was a wonderful time to be a child.
All so different now 😢

When you realize you are the last keeper of the memories... ❤
I lost my entire family do to them dying I wish I could hug them to as I could really use a hug God Bless You
I miss those days when basically everyone was working class and not ashamed of it. They didn't put on airs, just happy with whatever they had.
Christmas 1971 I was five years old. Then and during the next 15 years or so was virtually flawless. What a wonderful time to be a kid!
So your 57 right now?

Das waren noch schöne Zeiten. Da hat man sich noch gefreut; heute sind wir alle abgestumpft und übersättigt.
Wir freuten uns über Mützen und Fäustlinge
Hats gloves and the kids were happy to get them ❤
Wow thank you 🎅🤶

This is the most decent looking super8 footage I’ve stumbled on, even sharper than vision3 super8.
Kids so happy receiving clothes! Hopefully there were some toys mixed in there! 😄
