Honestly, this was CRAZY AF... The amount of control he has over Leila was wild... Truthfully this to me was one of the most disturbing scenes. I was also surprised that Leila actually let off that shot... Made the scene even better.

And also realising exactly how far Christian's previous life used to go in the Dom/Sub "relationship". But even then Leila was into that. Read the books. All his previous "subs" were ones who knew precisely what they were getting into (not something I'd be interested in and I find that full type of Dom/sub lifestyle distasteful but each to their own *if* they are adults and consenting). The point of this trilogy is that Christian, gives up that lifestyle. For Ana.

Like I get that they did it because it’s based off of twilight and they were trying to match the high stakes with non super natural characters which is kind of hard buuut yeah it kind of ends up feeling all over the place for me.
Especially like the stuff with Jack being from the same foster home as Christian. That was such an interesting idea that they barely talked about. I also just wish the scene with Leila had been WAY more dramatic and more the climax than yet another lovers quarrel moment in FSD.
Fifty Shades of Grey is the first film then Fifty Shades Darker is the second film and finally Fifty Shsdes Freed which is the third and final film

@@leslieivey2149 for anyone who's read the books (a lot more detail) christian had mass amounts of trauma and was trained into the Dom/sub scene in a screwed up way which made it seem ok to him to push things this far. Ana points out his flaws constantly. He was groomed into believing this was ok by a woman far older than him and continued to exercise it without realizing and understanding the damages of those consequences. This story was so much deeper than the movies let on which allowed people to think this was absolute abuse and it was intended to be that way etc. Etc. If you don't put the entire story together then yeah it will come off that way. But when you get the whole story everything makes sense, was it ok was happened to Laila and some of the things Christian did? No, but there's reasons to why they happened and why Ana played such a massive part. And yes, you're right, Dom/sub rela.s are meant to be exercised in a safe consensual manner.
But Christian was a heavily misunderstood guy with an even more misunderstood backstory that they barely touched on in the movies (they shot themselves in the foot with that move alone).

In these books/films, there is a damn contract spelling out what each are happy with. How many people go through something like that in a "normal" relationship?
Each could leave the agreement and go their own ways. In Leila's case, she has lost her husband (in the book she & her husband have parted ways, and she found someone else who she loved but he was killed in a car accident and it was traumatic for her....so, she is going back to the last man she cared for - Christian).
Christian finds that Ana is not interested in being a submissive at all (and its worth reading Christian's PoV books as we get flashbacks of his relationship with Leila....NOTHING like he has with Ana).
Its really interesting seeing the way Ana, who is a very strong character who really knows *who* she is. She is open minded and prepared to try things but is also quite happy to say no to things too. Whether that is in the Red Room, Bedroom or daily life. Christian finds he has someone saying no, challenging him and his perspective, pointing out his good points (charity works, philanthropy etc) and teaching him to LOVE (himself and others and recognise when he is loved by others).

This is called BDSM honey. But it's presentation wasn't portrayed properly in fifty shades. BDSM is a lot more than just punishments, kinky stuffs and pain. It's more about love (if you're in a relationship), lust, passion, dominance, submission and most importantly, consent. I haven't read the book, but from what I heard, Christian never really played with Leila. He was always true to his words with his subs. He never loved her or even told her that he liked her. She was the only one obsessed with him.

@@anjmehra I hadn't read the book before but all I know is that maybe her and him might've had quite the age gap so maybe that's one of the factors of why they had the word "Darker" as the movie's title.
@@lynn26dh there wasn't a huge age gap. The reason the book is called darker on my opinion is cause we learn more about Christian's past which is dark af. He was physically abused by his step father when he was 4 years old and his mother was a drug addict who just watched and did nothing. After that he got adopted but the trauma he experienced stayed with him. In school he'd get into fights etc. His adopted mother's friend introduced him to the BDSM community when he was 15 years old. That's the only huge age gap there was. Also on that book we see Christian's "dark" side which is him having absolute control over his submissives hence why Leila calls him Master. Another thing is that on the books from Christian's POV, you'll see Christian calling himself a monster because he believes he is a sadist who gets turned on when he hurts women who look like his mother. Sorry that this answer is long. Like I said I believe that's the reason it's called Darker.
Um, the woman in this scene is Nicole Dörmer, She is quite an attractive blonde in "The Man in the High Castle"(don't like her character, which is a film making Nazi though), not Kim Basinger.
Okay, I can overlook the part where he commands her in order to disarm her. That's fine as it avoids people getting shot. But the making her kneel part really gave me the creeps.

It was a really ballsy move actually. She could have pulled the trigger anytime while she had the gun pointed at him. He was seriously risking his life and protecting Ana by "dominating" Leila.
@@whutzat he was trying to solve...given her delicate emotional health and given that he knows that he is part of her problem. Him stroking her hair was very fatherly to me and probaably the kindest thing that he could have done for her under the circumstances.

You clearly didn’t watch the movie or read the book. The poor girl had a breakdown because her husband died unexpectedly. So in her grief she went back to the only place she knew, her old dominant.
Leila wasn't the sub before ana, she got married had a divorce found a new guy who died in a accident then decided to find grey.
He didn't break her or hurt her you act as if he kidnapped her and tortured her something do you not understand the relationship of a dominant and a submissive I recommend you doing some research
