We Had an Off-Night at Fright Fest: Was It Still Worth It?

  • In today's video, we make our return out to Six Flags to revisit Fright Fest - and to be honest, we kind of had an off-night experience. Previously, we deemed this year's event to be the best Fright Fest yet, but the crowd levels were the highest that we've ever seen, and the energy levels just seemed to be on the lower end of what we've come to expect with this event. The question is, do we still think it was worth the price of admission? Do we think we'll ever come back to Fright Fest ever again? We answer both of these questions at the end of our video!

    Few things to consider.
Nightmare and Mayhem are ran by a different crew than the Fright Fest houses. They are ran by operations from what was White Water Bay.
Friday the 6th had a ton of technical difficulties that caused a lot of the effects to go completely down to the point the houses had no power for awhile. The entire season has been plagued with electrical issues.
Short staffing. Quite a bit of it. Scare actors dropped out after the first few weekends people were getting heat exhausted because when Fright Fest started it was still in the high 90s and hundreds.
I know a good chunk of this because up until last weekend I worked FrightFest.

Oh listen - I am not upset at all! I understand bad runs happen and I'm so sorry to hear there have been so many issues! I used to be a scareactor at the Bricktown Haunted Warehouse so I understand fatigue. I love this event so much - it was just such a great start that it was wild when the night kind of just died while the crowds kept getting bigger!

@@teamfol I appreciate the insight! There is so much that happens behind the scenes that people have no idea about - and people complain way too easily.

Bummer that the haunts weren't active. It looks like they made a ton of cool changes this year! The past 2 times I went on opening day so there were no crowds but I feel like the scare actors were very active. Granted there's probably less scare actors than peak season but they are energized! Thanks for sharing your experience and being honest! I had fun watching your video.

Honestly, the houses were full of actors! Our time in Nightmare was amazing, and our previous trip out was also incredible. I don't know what was up this time - but it's not going to deter me from going again!

@@chrisdoesthingsunfortunate to see that the energy wasn’t there in mayhem. I’m one of the monster leaders for both nightmare and Mayhem! I promise you that this won’t be an issue again come give it another shot!

@@chrisdoesthings My wife and I made that observation Nightmare grat balance of scare actors to guests then Mayhem was bleh they didn't have enough scare actors I counted like 3 in the whole house. My biggest issue was the through put with Nightmare and Mayhem both houses they were stacking guests like no tomorrow. Kind of takes away from being frigthened when you end up in group of 30 or more by the time you reach the end.

@@KicknKvnMotto We noticed a fairly large number of scareactors in the house - I just think we caught them in bad timings.
And as far as the large groups are concerned - Fright Fest actually does a decent job of pulsing the houses (stopping between each group). My favorite event, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, is a constant stream of people - lovingly referred to as the conga line. HHN builds out their houses to allow for better scares like this though.

I've heard back from a friend who lives there that FC pretty much won't stop you from recording inside the haunts.

We always ask permission first, and so far it's been a no across the board. Frontier City has always been good to me - so I want to stay in their good graces for as long as I can!

They don't stop you my wife and I got behind a couple who were working on their tik tok videos they even flimed with the scare actors on some scenes and ended up holding everyone back and allowed groups to stack it was annoying by the time you got to the end the house was ruined these were grown adults in their late 20 early 30's that were being selfish.
