This is the best explanation of a soft high fall that I have ever seen… and I have watched many YT videos and instructional materials. Thank you so much! I am a first kyu in my fifties and do not enjoy the hard falls at all.
Hello , I would like to thank You for showing this and explain it well . I try to learn Aikido year ago and I give up as I could never understand those high fallings ,always hurt myself when tried to learn them, especially , on my own . Many times I hurt myself and I couldn't move properly for 2 weeks .I just can't do those fallings . I will try again though , after you showed it and maybe this time .... I would like to go back to learn Aikido . I just feel that I learn much slower than most of the people. Anyway Big Thank You for your video! 👍
I'm glad this was helpful, Daisy. If you follow the steps closely, you should be able to make it over. If you have a futon to practice the standing high falls on, that's a great way to start so you know you'll be safe.
also great to see that you keep your glasses on... I would not dare to practice aikido with glasses on but it is not an issue with freefalls then what is....thx again for the great tutorial
I passed this video to a friend of mine who practices aikido but he’s never done this before. My aim is to improve this technique as best as I can. Thank you for explaining it like this. Do you have anymore like this?
Thank you, JJ Abrams, for taking the time out of movie making to teach us aikido.
👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏😊 Thank you for sharing!!
Glad it's helpful!

Glad it was helpful. This is the only instructional video I have posted for high falls. Check the rest of the channel for koshinage and other things.
Are these feather breakfalls helpful when uke's balance is broken (kuzushi) and nage is holding on to uke's gi?
