@@aldenbynum742 I was at southern in 89. When Doc started letting HS perform at halftime. In 89!y’all came on the yard, and ran to the city claiming, y’all blew out us that day. That’s why I said stop it.
Southern never played Do What You Wanna before we played it that night, sorry. And tore the crowd up. The crowd wouldn't have been as crazy as they were when we finished. Plus ex band members from all of New Orleans high schools were astonished that night of our field show and in the stands.
@@aldenbynum742 I just checked it out it, they were extremely strong for a high school.. It seems they had alot of dedication to being a great band program...My first time seeing St Aug was 95/96 at the MLK parade in Lafayette Louisiana... After the parade all of the bands ended up in a place called "blackham coliseum" which is sort of like a small stadium to put on a quick tribute show for MLK....They had too much sound for that small building you couldn't hear yourself talk to the person sitting next to you when they were playing....just crazy...LOL
Legendary show because of how influential it was.💜💛💪🏽
I was in the Baritone Section. It was such an Historical Day. A Legendary Day. We were LIT!!

They had sound and power... they look and sound like they could've went up with any HBCU, with this band.
They actually did a 5th quarter battle against SU in either 89 or 90,and held their own. It's on youtube.

It was 1990

Do watcha wanna played after this game, and some years before that In the Stone.
They set the bar for a lot of bands in the city.

and after this show, guess who was playing "Do Watcha Wanna" for the Bayou Classic?
