DONALD TRUMP FULL SPEECH accepting the Republican candidacy
US President Donald Trump accepted the Republican Party's nomination for a second term on Thursday, before a crowd on the White House grounds and in a country raw from the coronavirus pandemic and racial tensions.
"My fellow citizens, tonight, with a heart filled with boundless gratitude and optimism, I deeply accept this nomination for the presidency of the United States," said Trump.
In turn, he promised to "crush" the coronavirus with a vaccine before the end of the year, when the United States mourns some 180,000 deaths from the pandemic and its economy is in recession as a result of measures to avoid contagion.
Another point he defended was that this election is playing between "the American dream" and a "devastating" socialism.
In fact, he said his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, "will be the destroyer of American greatness."
"This election will decide if we save the American dream, or if we allow a socialist agenda to demolish our precious destiny," said the president when accepting the Republican candidacy for the November 3 elections.
