Rock definitely did something that helped people get more openly invested in wrestling that's for sure. I say this because like a week or two before WM40 I ran to pick up some stuff from the grocery store and had on this old Roman Reigns "Acknowledge Me" shirt on while standing in line this older guy notices it turns around and asks me who I think is going to win Cody Rhodes and Seth or Roman and Rock, we both where like no way Rock goes over against Cody (we where wrong) in the middle of our conversation younger guy joins in with his take and the guy ringing us up at the checkout counter starts engaging us in the conversation too.
That's something special right there, in all my years of watching wrestling (and missing some of those eras) never had I experienced something like that in a public space, you hear guys talking about NFL, NBA, UFC something like that but not wrestling MAYBE in the days where WCW and WWE where going back and fourth.
Whatever Rock and Triple H discussed behind closed doors went over well and I think it definitely elevated the modern wrestling era to greatest heights, let's just hope they don't drop the ball.

I feel like part of what made wrestling cool in earlier decades was simply that we didn't have social media and smart phones and you could really believe these guys were the characters they were portraying. Now they all have social media...you see behind the curtain so much there's no way to step back from it.

Wrestling is too exposed at this point due to social media. Most people knew it was scripted in the attitude era but the mystique was still there, it was still compelling to watch. It also helped that the wrestlers back then were way more charismatic than the current wrestlers and they actually got you invested in their characters.

I see everyone saying “bring the attitude era back”…I think the thing about the attitude era that people forget, as much as the segments and promos were amazing most nights, the matches suffered. You’d have an insane 15-20 minute promo/segment followed by a 2-4 minute match that ends in a no contest. And tbh that was on both sides. WCW constantly would have an rambling long Hollywood Hogan promo followed by Lex Luger vs Macho Man for 4 minutes ending in a DQ. I agree that more adult storylines need to be brought back and the pg era needs to officially be killed but for the most part how matches are booked currently can stay relatively the same

@@user-gv6kp6pu1t who cares? This is prowrestling, not a Hemingway novel. Action movies have better story telling that they did in the 80s too, but they don't have any action stars. Hulk Hogan. Ric Flair. Dusty Rhodes. Randy Savage. Roddy Piper. Jake Roberts. Andre the Giant. Bobby Heenan. Road Warriors. Ultimate Warrior. Sting. Etc. At one point in there career these were all stars at a level where you didn't need a past star from a prior era of 25 years to come back and hog all the spotlight because none of the current guys can shine anywhere near as bright.
PS I'll take the Savage Hogan Mega Powers storyline over any of the stuff I've seen from Roman Seth and Cody. Savage and Hogan were two men that made the audience believe had an intense rage for eachother and faced off in a match that let the world of wrestling know who the greatest is. Cody just lost 1 2 3 to an old man the night before he won the title. That'd be like WM6 being a 2 night affair and Warrior losing to Bruno in a Tage match the night before and then going on to beat Hogan, like anyone would even want to see him face Hogan now.
Modern pro wrestling is for the leftover fans of the 80s and 90s who want to take their kids to a pro wrestling show. 80s and 90s pro wrestling was for kids and teens begging their parents to take them.

But this New Era is more serious, more believable, The storylines are just incredible...The women's division is better, women are being treated with respect nowadays, women are not be overly sexualized like objects....And I'm invested in the great storylines.... WWE has never had a long Term story like This Extraordinary BLOODLINE Faction, this storyline keeps getting better and better

I don't give two F**k what you think and how you make it, or how you want to turn it, right now they are killing it and breaking records and are on top of the world right now and They now have Causel fans invested again.

Bloodlines finally over,. WWE has NO storylines to use anymore so, they are LITERALLY trying to reuse the old Attitude era because they have absolutely no original ideas anymore.
Bringing people who left over a decade ago like John Cena, Undertaker, The Rock coming back, even briefly, is simply WWE trying to cash in on the parents and grandparents of the kids who own the wallets needed to pay for the tickets and merchandise who remembered the old Attitude Era.
ALL he did was just do the same schtick he'd always done, for years, like a well-planned routine.
I for one, did NOT care to see him back.
WWE has soo many talented people and they just keep releasing talent before it has a chance, but lets keep cashing in on the old has-beens who have been played out still.
