I’m renting a house with a beautiful old established white mulberry tree. We are probably going to have to move in the next year as my landlord past away and his kids want to sell. My husband and I are sad to loose the tree. The property will most likely be ton down- built 1921! Tree will probably go with it as it also has a mechanic shop running 50 years plus in front and I know the earth is no good here. I’m going to try to root a baby from this glorious tree. I hope I can make it happen. My husband will be so happy if I do- and so will I! ❤
OMG
Thank you. This is really easy to follow.
Glad it was helpful! :)
It's one most forgiving plant a resilient one. Mine died after a lot of troubles. Will get new one. It needs enough space, sunlight, water and nutrition to get sweet fruits
I haven't really been taking care of my mulberry tree other than trimming it a ton and I water it every once in a while but as far as nutrition goes I haven't fed it anything. Maybe that's why the fruit tastes kind of like a mild blackberry. Not very sweet, just a hint of sweetness.
Mulberries are the most resilient tree axcept trees like Ailanthus or black locusts
You can cut it to the root and it will grow, they survive drought like its a cactus, they tolerate occasional wet soils ect
I had a Mulberry sapling growing in a pot by accident and i cutted back 3 times in the season until it died
@@PolAdd22 omg, so it died because of too much cutting?
Thank you for sharing! A family that work for gave me a cutting and I'm super excited to grow it. Although it's been about a week and I forgot to put it in some soil. Hopefully it's still viable (looks green still).
No problem!! Good luck :)
I'm about to try to root some cuttings I found in the forest I need a shade tree I can eat from lol
Try it!!!! Good luck :D
The wild ones are less sweeter than the ones we cultivate so good luck handling the taste!
It can be "leaf mulberry" that's what we call it where I live, I don't know if that's the name. These trees are not grafted, they just produce tasteless and small berries. They're used for feeding silkworms or feeding livestock. You might be have to graft it once it rooted.
@@osmanthewoodsman5040 interesting!! I've never had wild mulberries. Thanks for sharing :D
Wow I am glad that Camera leveled out I thought i was drunk and couldn't remember drinking! 😂
lmao I'm sorry hehe, I'm still working on being better at recording :D
Tried this multiple times with no luck. Guess we have to just keep trying.
oh man, I'm sorry you've had no luck :( My tree is a dwarf everbearing mulberry. It might be the variety? I'm not really sure. I plant A TON of cuttings and not all will root, some cuttings are just no good so I would say keep trying and good luck.
They are super easy to root>>The key is to take in late winter early spring>>>>>.but in reality >>>>>>>>>>>>does not matter as they root easily in water.....I have seen several methods with most successfull
They really are super easy to root!! I wish all the other trees were this easy
I see that comfrey under there lol
the plant under the mulberry tree??
Sad news i just planted mulberry like this but i didn't leave nodes at start dose it grow roots
yes, the roots grow from the nodes, if there are some nodes in the soil even if it's not at the very bottom it still might work :)
Do you keep them in the dark or give them light? Some say that they have to be in the dark for the first 2 weeks.
I place them under the larger trees so it's always in the shade with no direct sunlight.
Is that an ever bearing variety?
New subs here😁
Sure is! :D
Did you do this in the spring or the fall?
I honestly can't remember but knowing myself I probably did it in the fall and spring lol, it's shocking my tree is still doing well
Did you use any rooting hormone? Anything? How long until the first sign of growth showed?
I did not use any rooting hormones. I just cut it near a node and shove it in a pot and water it every other day. I usually know it worked after I see some new leaves and it takes about a month or so.
How many days did it take to root?
I haven't really paid much attention to how many days it takes, i'll try to do a better video where I keep track but I would say about 1 or 2 months. Sometimes the cuttings will trick you and show new leaves and you think there are roots but there aren't any. So I wait about two months to repot them.
I’m trying to root some right now but the buds have already sprouted do I take them off and it will still root?
I just pick them off with my hand and leave a few leaves
Good luck :D
Best time of year?
I'm not really sure. I live in florida and just do it whenever
Can't hear you...
I'm sorry :( I'll try to make another video with better audio, not really a good youtuber hehe
