  • Mistakes To Avoid When Using A Spin Bike!
You may think riding a bike is easy. You jump on and start to peddle your way to get a good cardio session on.
If you think that’s all you need to do for a good cardio session, then you’re wrong!
    Don’t:
    ❌ Have the seat low
    ❌ Light Tension
    ❌ Extreme Curved Back
    ❌ Keeping head down
    Do:
✅ Adjust the seat high enough that the leg can be fully extended.
✅ Back straight with minor curvature.
✅ Keep head up and chest up.
✅ Tension is high and hard.
✅ Wear bike shoes with clips
Make these adjustments on the spin bike and do an actual ride for 20 - 60 mins, and you’ll feel a difference!
You’re working out, not taking a cruise.

Still wrong. That seat is too high. His knees go too straight and his knees lock. Repeated locking of the knees is gonna make it even worse. To measure seat height, legs should be fully extended from the heels making the knee very slightly bent in a normal cycling position.

    • @uralmutlu4320
      @uralmutlu4320 Рік тому +13

In this context locking the knees means overextending the legs to a point where the legs are fully extended at the knee. Take a look at his first pedal after "adjusting" the seat. I do think his legs go too straight for cycling and the knees are involved more than they should be. He does say adjust the seat so that your legs are fully extended, this is wrong information. Legs are never fully extended when cycling, this would just kill the knees. As a simple rule, to adjust the seat height, the heel is placed on the pedal and the leg is extended. This way, when the normal cycling position is taken, the legs are bent just enough to protect the knees.

You adjust the seat to hit right at your hip bone. Seat to the handle bars you can simply put your elbow on the front of the seat until your fingertips reach the front of the handle bar. The distance of the seat to the front or rear should be set to when your feet are parallel when locked in....your knee does not go past your toes.

More tension is not always better, as long as you’re sweating and your heart rate is up you’re fine, you can work up your tension in order to keep it challenging as you go

That’s exactly right. On hard rides, I’ll average 95 RPM. It comes down to power. More power = more calories. In fact, you can calculate your calorie burn directly from your average power.

I guess he meant that you shouldn’t have the tension so low that you’re not increasing your heart rate that much. A lot of people will focus on km rather than bpm. He should’ve clarified what he meant though as it gave the impression that the higher the tension the better.

This may not the best demonstration of a bike set up, but he has an idea of what he's talking about. When he said with his mouth "..adjust the seat to a height where you can fully extend..." he got it wrong, the knee should be slightly bent, he is a lil higher than his natural height. There's also a lot omitted on the set up, but this is a good start

As a cyclists id give 2 tips for the fitment , 1.put ur heel on the pedal and u want to raise the saddle till the leg is fully extended 2. When u lay forwards and ur arms are 90° bent , the elbow should touch ur knee . ( Adjust ur handlebar and saddle forwards or backwards till u get that position and remember the numbers of the adjustment for the next time you hop on again since others will ruin it for you )

  • @funkyribs

Nah you’re too high up, you don’t want to lock out your knees. To actually get good seat height you can sit on the bike and have one of your legs dropped down FLAT on the pedal with a slight bend, if you try to push down your heel and your knee locks out raise the seat a tiny bit. You never want your knees to lock out on a bike. NEVER.

Weight loss comes from eating habits, not from fitness/cardio/exercises. Exercise might help your metabolism work properly, but it cannot outpace a bad diet.
In other words, you can't exercise out a bad diet. Get a nutritionist to help you with weight loss.
