Yes I’m definitely getting this series for. And I do like the way that you compared the two watches. I think it was smart to show the older large watch versus the small new watch. It helped me to make a better decision.
It's honestly not that big of an upgrade. The ECG is its biggest feature, are you really going to need that..ask yourself honestly. The series 3 is the more sensible purchase unless you really like the rounded display. I've had the series 1 and the series 3 now, these smartwatches are definitely not worth 400+, not yet.
Yea I went to T-Mobile in the weekend to see if they even had the series 4 but sadly they did not but I already wanted (Apple Watch series 3) in first the place because I did look at the specs didn’t convince me to buy the (series 4) not worth the price for a watch nope

Vincent Black I 100% agree with you. Although I do like the bigger screen and the haptic feedback it would NEVER justify paying 120 dollars more than the Series 3 for just that. I’ll be getting a Series 3 this year for Christmas and I couldn’t be more excited. Series 4 may have better things than Series 3, but not for 120 dollars more. Not to mention I’m not a US resident so most of the new things that come with the Series 4 wouldn’t even work in my country, like the ECG and Cellular. 👍🏻

I actually think it was smart to compare the new one on a smaller model. It gives a good comparison. That is because there is an obvious big difference between even the large series 3 and the small series 4. Just because of the way the watch faces function and the fact that they use more surface area on the newer watches. I actually think that was smart. Because sometimes we don’t just go for how it looks on our wrist we’re going for how big the screen actually looks. As a woman I typically would not get the larger one but on the older one I did because the face was bigger. The smaller one was just a little too tiny for me to see. But it’s nice to see how the smaller one is bigger than my old large watch. So I can actually get a smaller watch if I want and don’t spend quite as much money as I had to before. So a few of us actually got the point on why you did it that way.
I am looking to go from the bigger series 2 to smaller series 4 so I appreciate you reviewing the smaller watch. Everyone seems to review the bigger one so this is has been extremely helpful in making my decision.
Here’s a real user response. My wife purchased the series 4 gps model, 38 mm, in December. I had a Series 2 42 mm. A month later, she decided she wanted cellular. Not rich. Went to the Apple store and after many try ones, got the Black Stainless Cellular in the larger 44 mm. I got her 38 mm aluminum gps only. I alternate it with my 42 mm series 2, in black aluminum. I hate the 38 size, but it is the series 4. Since I alternate daily I can give you the comparison in a nutshell. I love having 7 different functions on the face. Everything there at a glance and very well organized. That’s a major difference to me. I really love my larger series 2. They say the screen size is the same between the 40 mm series 4, and the 42 mm series 2. That may be, but the series 4 40mm is in the same casing as the 38 mm series 3 and below. Larger watches just look better. For display purposes, the series 4 blows a away the earlier models. Especially all the functions you can have on the face. The true At A Glance face. Otherwise, no real difference to most people.
upgrading to a Series 4 from a 3 its definitely not worth it. there's only a few things different i would highly suggest to stay with a 3 save your money and just wait for the following year to see what upgrades they come out with.
I'm in Australia and have a Series 3 Cellular. Got the Series 4 yesterday, only to discover that the ECG function is not available outside of the US, nor is AQI (Air Quality Index). The screen IS nicer, but I am not thrilled that the radio waves will now go through my wrist! So at the moment I am inclined to return it and stay with the Series 3 - at least until ECG is locally available.

I’m purchasing my first Apple Watch. Should I purchase the S4 or should I just get the S3 that is $200 on Black Friday? Are the differences between the two that noticeable that it would justify spending over $400 on the S4?
You should be fine with the S3, but I'm the kind of guy that finds it hard to buy last years' tech, especially since the S4 watch is basically the first one to see a complete redesign. -Vadim
I can understand SOME watch models being backordered, but delivery on everything will be between October 19-26. Apple couldn't plan better? And the black steel watch only comes with a black or white sport band, which most people already own. So you'll spend another $100 for a couple of nicer straps. April, then you must have ordered through the app. But that is a welcome surprise for you! I got in the local Apple store doors right at 8:00 AM on that opening Friday. For some reason, my Xs Max is to be delivered this Tuesday 9/25, but the watch is stuck in eternal "pending." And of course it's the watch I'm more excited about because of its many improvements. The Xs Max won't be much different than my X, but I do want the larger screen. Like you, I do have a nice collection of after market straps; the black sport band on the new watch will have to be my unwanted second.

Jacob Goodman I think it happens because the older hardware can’t keep up with newer software. Which makes perfect sense to me. For example, windows 10 would work very slowly on a computer made in the early 2000s’, probably wouldn’t work at all lol.

I’ll get the series 3 and upgrade when there’s actually a big difference. Cause that price difference is insane for a little bit better speakers, and a screen that still doesn’t cover the entire glass front. The Apple Watch 4 isn’t really much of a difference at all to the 3. Just the bigger scream but to me I don’t think spending the extra money just for that is worth it.
I know this is an old vid, but I've just gotten a used Series 4 40mm and a little self conscious it might look a little small? My wrists aren't huge my any means, but having came from the Gear S3 frontier, it's obviously a lot smaller. I'm now wandering whether I should trade it in and get a Series 3 42mm instead, or am I just being overly picky?
Le roy it all comes down to preference. The Series 3 is still a very capable watch. It isn’t slow and has been reduced in price which can make it more appealing. However, that being said, the Series 4’s new processor is almost twice as fast as the Series 3 and the screen does utilize more real estate (bezels are smaller) and Bluetooth is upgraded to 5.0 which is being used by iPhones since I believe iPhone 7 came out. This allows for better, faster, and greater distance communication/connectivity. If your iPhone utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 and you can spare the Series 4 expense, then I would say go for it. But if funds are tight, then go for the Series 3. Good luck 👍🏻
I charge my watch to 100 percent before going to sleep and leave it beside me. When I wake up after about 8 hours, the battery is at about 92 percent. The watch is connected to the phone during the night. Is this the normal behaviour?
BEEN rocking the 4 LTE for months now.... not bad, but the switch over time from iPhone to LTE sucks usually, but, hopefully they roll out a fix. Siri could use a perking up too.
I’ve never found any point of the Apple Watch for myself. However with Very they have the 42 3 series going for £279 for Black Friday. I bought one for my lad for Christmas and myself. The slight improvement to the 4 is not worth for the extra few hundred pounds over what I paid for the 3. If I like it and find it useful (I doubt for me it will be) I will upgrade to the 5. Problem for me is the charging the watch. I haven’t had to worry about charging a watch or changing the battery for 10 years.

I bought a 1 month old series 3 last februari for 300 euros instead of 400 euro's here in the Netherlands. Still contemplating if i should upgrade to the series 4. The cardiogram function is not (yet) available in the Netherlands. Isn't approved here yet but might be in the near future. and for the extra screen real estate. I have the 42mm now and i only use the screen to start and end a workout or if i get a message. I don't really use the watch for anything else. So i think i'll stick to my series 3 for now. But it's a nice comparison.
They probably had the means to make the 4 when they made the 1. The way I see it, you are always buying old tech that they hold back until they feel they should declare it as new. Buy for your needs. Not for an idea they sell you on. For me, it’s battery life and performance. What’s changed really? My two cents

If I were you, I'd go with the series 3 as there is not much difference between the series 3 and 4. The series 3 is also cheaper and more value for your money, in my opinion the series 4 is not worth 400 and over.
Huh? Most of the digital faces don’t have seconds displayed, so it’s not even possible to tell the exact time. Most of the analogue faces have a seconds hand.
For the ECG mentioning in your video: ECG is not equal to ECG! there are 5 or 12 canal ECG´s like shown in your video and 2 to 3 canal ECGs like on the watch. 2(3) canal ECG is capable of showing rhythmic analysis ( more than just counting pulse) like VES, Fibrillation , Brady-/Tachyarrhytmia and there origin. That is similar to those used in ambulances and ICUs for monitoring. 12-canal are used for deeper analysis like heart attack diagnosis. So Apple Watch cant do the same thing as those doctors ECG´s you have shown
if you have never had an Apple Watch before, the visual comparison doesn't actually start until 2:28 on the video. in my opinion, its not the best features to features comparison there is and the guy is obviously biased toward the newer one.
Apart from the always on screen theres hardly any difference, Apple knows this because when you go onto the Apple website and try to compare Apple Watch models there is no option to compare Apple Watch 4 and 5,Theres only the option to compare Apple Watch 5 and 3!

Ceramic and Sapphire crystal back. 16GB storage instead of 8GB. Also, after a year with an LTE watch, cellular didn't get enough use to make it work it. It may be worth it for those who actually do want to leave their phones behind often. -V

im not sure at all that the new 40 mm have a bigger display compared to the series 3 42 mm... cos when u saw us the picture i got the impression it as bigger on the 42 mm watch... not sure if it's the case or not , hard to tell...
Ange Alexiel Since 40mm Series 4 is bigger, the screen is going to look similar to the size of the 42mm Series 3. Does that make sense? You can see a bigger difference between the 42mm Series 3 and the 44mm Series 4.
I don't think you understand the mechanics of an EKG. There's no way an Apple Watch could provide the same level of detail as an EKG you showed in your video, because EKGs require various positive and negative leads sending signals across the heart.

It’s 2021, and I am using an Apple Watch 3. A price of $150 for 42 mm really is hard to beat.

The Apple Watch 4 isn’t really much of a difference at all to the 3. Just the bigger scream but to me I don’t think spending the extra money just for that is worth it.

I know this is an old vid, but I've just gotten a used Series 4 40mm and a little self conscious it might look a little small? My wrists aren't huge my any means, but having came from the Gear S3 frontier, it's obviously a lot smaller. I'm now wandering whether I should trade it in and get a Series 3 42mm instead, or am I just being overly picky?

Le roy it all comes down to preference. The Series 3 is still a very capable watch. It isn’t slow and has been reduced in price which can make it more appealing. However, that being said, the Series 4’s new processor is almost twice as fast as the Series 3 and the screen does utilize more real estate (bezels are smaller) and Bluetooth is upgraded to 5.0 which is being used by iPhones since I believe iPhone 7 came out. This allows for better, faster, and greater distance communication/connectivity.
If your iPhone utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 and you can spare the Series 4 expense, then I would say go for it.
But if funds are tight, then go for the Series 3. Good luck 👍🏻

I charge my watch to 100 percent before going to sleep and leave it beside me. When I wake up after about 8 hours, the battery is at about 92 percent. The watch is connected to the phone during the night. Is this the normal behaviour?
BEEN rocking the 4 LTE for months now.... not bad, but the switch over time from iPhone to LTE sucks usually, but, hopefully they roll out a fix. Siri could use a perking up too.

I’ve never found any point of the Apple Watch for myself. However with Very they have the 42 3 series going for £279 for Black Friday. I bought one for my lad for Christmas and myself. The slight improvement to the 4 is not worth for the extra few hundred pounds over what I paid for the 3. If I like it and find it useful (I doubt for me it will be) I will upgrade to the 5. Problem for me is the charging the watch. I haven’t had to worry about charging a watch or changing the battery for 10 years.

I bought a 1 month old series 3 last februari for 300 euros instead of 400 euro's here in the Netherlands. Still contemplating if i should upgrade to the series 4. The cardiogram function is not (yet) available in the Netherlands. Isn't approved here yet but might be in the near future. and for the extra screen real estate. I have the 42mm now and i only use the screen to start and end a workout or if i get a message. I don't really use the watch for anything else. So i think i'll stick to my series 3 for now. But it's a nice comparison.
They probably had the means to make the 4 when they made the 1. The way I see it, you are always buying old tech that they hold back until they feel they should declare it as new. Buy for your needs. Not for an idea they sell you on. For me, it’s battery life and performance. What’s changed really? My two cents

If I were you, I'd go with the series 3 as there is not much difference between the series 3 and 4. The series 3 is also cheaper and more value for your money, in my opinion the series 4 is not worth 400 and over.

Huh? Most of the digital faces don’t have seconds displayed, so it’s not even possible to tell the exact time. Most of the analogue faces have a seconds hand.
For the ECG mentioning in your video: ECG is not equal to ECG! there are 5 or 12 canal ECG´s like shown in your video and 2 to 3 canal ECGs like on the watch. 2(3) canal ECG is capable of showing rhythmic analysis ( more than just counting pulse) like VES, Fibrillation , Brady-/Tachyarrhytmia and there origin. That is similar to those used in ambulances and ICUs for monitoring. 12-canal are used for deeper analysis like heart attack diagnosis. So Apple Watch cant do the same thing as those doctors ECG´s you have shown

if you have never had an Apple Watch before, the visual comparison doesn't actually start until 2:28 on the video. in my opinion, its not the best features to features comparison there is and the guy is obviously biased toward the newer one.

The ECG component has only been certified by the FDA in the USA, so at this stage I believe it's the only country that can use this feature.

I don't think you understand the mechanics of an EKG. There's no way an Apple Watch could provide the same level of detail as an EKG you showed in your video, because EKGs require various positive and negative leads sending signals across the heart.
