I went back to look at the bass being used in the Pices video and it was def a 5 string. My bad-- My mind played tricks on me during this viewing! 😅
⏩ Video Question: Which instrument (other than what you already play) would you like to have some skill in? If you are not already a musician any answer is good!

Jinjer Teacher Teacher (official video)
Would be a great choice.
Well till last week I hadn't picked up my bass guitar since 2003. I wish i had my old skills back...
@@blitzofchaosgaming6737 How did that first pick up go?
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Well I broke my neck 7 months ago and am using it to keep myself busy in between sessions relearning to walk so whether its time or atrophy not very well
@@blitzofchaosgaming6737 Jesus! I am sorry to read that. I wish you a strong recovery and I hope that music helps you heal as you relearn. Damn man
So psyched you checked this song out! Personally, I feel one of the uncommon things about Jinjer is how while Vlad, Eugene, Roman, & Tatiana all have the skill to wildly stand-out individually, they remain very balanced in service to the song as a whole. They do not overplay or over sing as many bands do but work as a whole. Ego set aside for the preservation of the music
Very good point
"Teacher, teacher" official vídeo blow your mind... the tempo is crazy... a variety of colours...
I am amateur multi-instrumentalist and Jinjer surpasses me. From Rosario, Argentina. Good reactions.
I like play a violín 🎻
Que lindo ver un argentino acá jajaja
Ja ja... ya somos 2 🤘
Tatiana is an incredible singer and an awesome front woman....Her transition from the vocal octaves to the growl is incredible....
"Who Is Gonna Be The One" would be a great next live Jinjer reaction. Check out the switch-up of genres near the end of the song.
Finding talented musicians is pretty easy - there are LOTS of them. Finding members that can meld together is the hard part and the rarest. Jinjer nails it and kinda makes it look easy which just shows how comfortable they are together and it also shows their proficiency in their "role" within the larger sound of the band. They are all humble and singularly focused on the music first which comes through in their loyalty to each other. Their sound is really unique to them and it has been cool to see their maturity in music over time.
Jinjer's Teacher Teacher will change your life
“Pit of Consciousness” Live in Kiev is another of their best live performances.
There is a fifth member of the band you don't see. His name is Sasha. He is their sound guy and has been with them from nearly the start. He travels with them and is treated as the fifth member of the band. He and they are very, very prissy when it comes to their live sound. Their specifications for the venue are to be followed precisely or they will and have cancelled shows. Eugene, the bassist, has said on record that he would rather lose out on ticket sales than sound like shit. Their prissiness has paid off, because they've built a loyal following on the strength of their live shows, and of course Tatiana's voice. The high quality of their live sound has helped to up the game for concert goers everywhere, because bands today are realizing that if they intend to make any money at all, then they have to do it from their live shows, and so their live shows have to be top notch or fans won't put up with it.
I agree, I have seen Jinjer play shows at some of the most suspect venues around and they sound amazing at almost all of them. They really put a hideous amount of time and work into making their live sound as good as it possibly can be and it shows. Great band, even greater live band.
Thank you. I’ve listened to this song countless times and never noticed the dissonance on the bass during that section. Beautiful.
vortex or wallflowers from
them! jinjer is a deep rabbit hole. you’ll enjoy it.
Great Reaction! Jinjer is a really fun rabbit hole to fall into and being a musician it's an amazing journey!
Jinjer just posted a drum playthrough of their song Copycat and it's pretty awesome, Vlad is a beast on drums. There are individual videos from each member for a bunch of different songs if you're interested in seeing any of them isolated playing along.
They are great live, hope to see them again someday. Stay safe Jinjer.
Great reaction! A double-feature reaction to JINJER - “Pit of Consciousness” the Official Music Video, and Live in Kiev would be amazing.
Oh yes please!
Yeah man!
Live in Kiev is so hardcore
love the joy in youre eyes while you discovering new music. I just love the fact that you can feel the Bass, only per headphones, shaking trogh your body. everybody in this band shines on there own, but combined, they are a masterpiece
Yea headphones is a must 🎶🎶
Jinjer - A pit of conciseness (live in Kiev) is a musical and vocal masterpiece from them. Highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!
Keep doing your reactions, Tony. That’s the way to make your way and you’re providing some insight that others don’t and I appreciate it.
You've got to check "Jinjer - I Speak Astronomy". Gorgeous production!
Vlad is a open handed drummer, he’s got vids on here playing the piano as well.
Relaxed fulcrum 🎶
Pleasssse keep the jinjer train going
It's like 3 or 4 songs in 1 song,, 3 or 4 energies in one song, and 1 final explosion. Perfection 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction. There are still a dozen of excellent Jinjer songs you could react to, but I would definitely recommend 'Homeback' as your next one. Tells a lot about the band's identity and where they come from.
I second Home Back!
Her 'regular singing voice' is called clean, and her 'guttural screaming voice' is growling.
Put Teacher Teacher on your list - tons of vocals and music to unpack!
Great reaction DRTR !!! Next ... Who's gonna be the one "Live", Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev)(this is one of my personal favorites), then On the Top (Live in Kiev), "Noah" music video (also another one of my favorites)... I Love Jinjer because 1. the are ALL Amazing!!!! 2. the music is one if a kind, nobody out there like Jinjer !!!! 3. The technical musicianship and writing is unmatched !!
Vlad(Drums), Roman(Guitar), Eugene(Bass) & Tatiana (Vocals) aka Beast mode / Queen Tati !!!!
Wow just wow finely someone recognized the other band members and not just her voice amazing that's why I sub amazing
Judgment and punishment one take has to be on the list
Their song Vortex really shows off Vlad's drumming as well.
I've noticed that in most of their songs, at some point, every instrument has its time as lead but over all, Vlad throws up this huge canvas of beats, Roman and Eugene paint it into three dimensions and Tatiana breaths life into the whole work. These guys are functioning at the highest artistic level I've seen in a really long time.
Well what a great reaction!! I am so excited to take the Jinjer journey with you. Subbed. What’s funny when I first heard Jinjer I was addicted to watching first reactions bc of the shock value of Tatiana’s amazing vocals. But that’s not the only reason I became a fan of this band. It was the incredible musicianship! Being a fan of progressive music and of heavy metal I couldn’t help but love their song structures, time signatures and just the complexity of their music. And I’m not even a musician! So while I still love the hilarious reaction to first time reactions of Tatiana I really now search out the reactors that can appreciate just how special this band is. You fit that bill to a tee for me! Keep up the amazing work!
If your a nerd for this song...... Jinjer has soooooo much more for you... the rabbit hole is deep and there really isnt a bad song in the jeez i have no idea how many vids they have out there from around 2014 till now but they are all fire!!! literally not a bad song that they have put out... and everyone is different.... such an amazing band.. and singer... and yes there are vids of vlad playing classical piano... he also plays guitar... and he has some videos of him playing pantera and other stuff on guitar. and alot of drum playthroughs and live playthroughs also... vlad and all the guys and gal in the band are amazing.... enjoy the journey. and if you like drums check out evgeny novikov playthrough of demolisher from slaughter to prevail!
I think you would love Vortex from their newest album
I think you would like "Teacher, Teacher".
I'm a guitarist/ bassist/drummer. Vlad is an insane drummer.Eugene bass is thunderous. Roman filling in everything on that guitar and what's to say about Tatiana that hasn't been said already. Love em. And I believe they are all self taught. Like me.
Sweet. Rhythm section! Self taught is an old expression now a days. The internet provides more educational intensity than ever. We have the world's best in HD videos that can be slowed down keeping intonation in tact, transcriptions a mouse click away, technique and approach explaned from anyone great and any song broken down segment by segment in a 2 second UA-cam search. What a great time for information 🎶🤟
My favorite performance is Pit of Consciousness live in Kyiv.
Well played for picking out that chord progression at the end of the bridge. Every part of Perennial (and there are many parts!) is a stunner. See you in Teacher Teacher, where you will find an equally stunning post-bridge chord progression / belted vocal combo ... as if we hadn't already completed 18 different parts of the song already, including a couple of verses of rap, by the time we get to the bridge. You'll see. Cheers!
It's a real joy to hear your reactions. You're so knowledgeable. And we get to watch as you experience new sounds. This is going to a fun ride! Subbing for quality! Thanks. 🤘
You'll notice Vlad's drums are set low and linear, like a piano. Even 3 pedals!
Another great reaction, you’ll find more and more the cohesion of the bad to act as one unit and play off of each other is unbelievable. They make small changes to their music where it doesn’t end up being the same repetitive sound . Please check out Jinjer - Vortex or Wallflower for new material or I speak Astronomy for a different sound
ISA is an unavoidable milestone, and I second the Vortex reaction request.
He played a 5 string in Pisces if I’m not mistaken he’s endorsed by OD basses.
He does, he has a fairly recent video of him playing a classical piece. I love how your focus is on the musicianship and the music. Sure Tatiyana's voice is incredible and rightly a focus of most reactors, but it comes at the expense of how great all these musicians are. Played trombone for 25 years in everything from a wind ensemble to jazz band to a brass quartet to a Salvation Army Christmas quintet. Wish I had learned a more chordal instrument like piano or guitar to pull together all the music theory. Great reaction!
here's a link to Vlad: ua-cam.com/video/HHdTmPDR9Z0/v-deo.html
Great comment!
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Here’s a link if you’re interested in watching Vlad play piano. ua-cam.com/video/HHdTmPDR9Z0/v-deo.html
She’s growling! Like to see you react to Jinjer’s “Astrology.” They mix so many types of genres in their music, and I believe jazz is in “Astrology.”
Sweet. That sounds good
I was there and they were sooooo fkn GOOD.
Another great reaction!
Roman (guitar player) really knows tone and how to fill space. They started with two guitar players and because so many of their old songs are fan favorites he has to pick and choose what to play when they do the older ones. With the new ones he still has to do it but he now writes the guitar parts. Either way he is really good at filling the spaces.
I recommend Home Back OMV. It's *completely* different musically from either of the songs you've heard so far with an incredible surprise transition in the middle, plus the song & video have a powerful anti-war message which gives some insight into their experience of the conflict in eastern Ukraine before it developed into the full-scale war currently in progress.
The war started 8 years ago between separatists and azov battalion (the nazis).
It's been in the 60s and raining in Tennessee for days.. it's usually sunny and in the 90s this time of year
To me, Jinjer is the best band in the world, at this moment in time. And the most relevant. *All* of the members are self taught, including Tati. All of their previous drummers were excellent, but for me, the band really became "Jinjer" when Vlad joined in 2016. He was their 5th drummer. He had some training on piano and he is a good guitarist as well. But. He is self taught on drums. Before he joined Jinjer, friends of his in another band needed help because they lost their drummer. So he decided to "help out" and be the drummer. If you notice how he sets up his kit, it is arranged a bit like a reversed keyboard. He is also one of the main composers. To me a lot of their musical structures have nothing to do with rock or even metal. The sound, yes, but the compositions are much more related to folk music and classical structures such as Rimsky-Korsakov and Mussorgsky. Check this out. Pisces transcribed for solo piano. m.ua-cam.com/video/8UA5Rw4JpeE/v-deo.html
In answer to your question, six-string bass will always be my number one love. But, I think drums would be a fun instrument to play. In regards to Jinjer, I love that band.
I guessed bass by the clef in your logo 🤟
@@DrumRollTonyReacts I figured that was a dead give-a-way. I began my bass journey when I was 16. I'll be 64 this Monday and still play an hour per day with backing tracks or my favorite songs.
@@OlettaLiano an hour a day keeps the doctor away 🎶
You mentioned wondering where the sound memory came from.. with me, the guitar gives a big wink back to the late 60s, Frank Zappa free-styling - but with different equipment.
That exquisite cord progression.. two breaths.. that's it -2, at the end of a show.
The natural progression after this song is Who's Going to be The One..
~scoots into your catalog~
oh my.. you're not there yet but good choices.
Teacher Teacher will give you another different feel. If you want a song from their newest album(released last Aug) ,try Vortex.
Never played an instrument. If I had, probably would have been a drummer. My grandfather played bass drum in a pipe and drum band before I was born.
Glad I found your channel and to answer your question, I have been a guitar player mostly rock and metal for the past 45 years and if I could or had the opportunity to play something else it would be the Saxophone!
Regarding give the sound guy a raise, their sound guy is technically the 5th member of the band with equal say in decisions and monetary cut, and he shows up frequently in behind the scenes stuff.
“Who is gonna be the one”. You seldom see such a mastery of bass and bass driven song. Totally epic, get your blood hot, song. This band is all about the bass although they are one of the tightest bands around with no grandstanding by any of them. Equal virtuosos in their own way.
Definitely only ever saw Eugene play on 5.
Just a couple of light critiques, Tony: use you back arrow to get a few seconds of rewind so we can hear the transitions better when you pause, and play the videos to the end. Otherwise, I really like your remarks. Like I mentioned before, you're off to a good start with Band-Maid, Jinjer and The Warning!
I think all that was left was her saying the crowd was effing amazing. There was no more music i know that much. I can use the keys more for rewinding. 🤟
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Yeah, I meant the left arrow. Anyway, letting the vid run out lets your viewers see the end of her performance (which isn't always just music) and reveals more of Tati's personality. I also never like it when the video is cut off before the audience shows their reaction at the end either. It just allows the viewer to feel the complete performance and have a better, more complete experience, imo. I guess that comes from my own performance experiences. Thx, Tony!
Great reaction! Vlad has several videos of him playing piano and guitar plus drum playthroughs. Super talented musician, as they all are.
Great reaction Cougar
I myself am also a drummer/percussionist. I specialize in Scottish style drumming. If I could have another instrument, I’d pick either piano or stand up bass!
Loving your content!
nice to see you again... maybe next a double-feature “Pit of Consciousness” the Official Music Video, and Live in Kiev and so on..........................
warm greetings from a german musician & thanx for your reaction on a great band
Thank you for coming back!
It's, like a growl, it's not as loud but it's definitely deferant
One vocal coach mentioned the "Ucranian scale" involved in the structure of this and other songs of Jinjer, can be a clue for you more involved in musical composition. This adds to the insane change of scale voices of Tatyana along the sudden change of rythm pace. Greetings from Panamá
100% I was not going to go into modes on a first listen for UA-cam but she singing REALLY outlines it a lot. I also heard it in Pices. The Ukrainian mode (I had not heard that name for it as it, I know it as altered dorian) is a mode of a minor scale. Harmonic minor to be exact. The scale degrees you are 1 2 b3 #4 5 6 b7. The differences in sound to a "normal" minor scale would be the raised 4 and the natural 6. Pretty sweet stuff
Everything from "Micro" EP, "Macro" album & "Wallflowers" album (the work written after Vlad the #AnnoyinglyTalented drummer-guitarist-pianist joined) is all in drop-A, so everything Eugene does is on a 5-string bass. Roman's on an almost-baritone-at-the-low-end multiscale 6-string. It's fun to see him bust out a tasty blues lead on that thing here & there tho! :)
For me personally, there is not a poor song on any of these 3 releases since Vlad joined. I'm sure you'll get plenty requests for some great tracks from Micro & Macro.... many of which I love myself. The composition on some of the tracks on Wallflowers tho.... o_O This is where I reckon Vlad's classical background comes in heavy (Vlad composed ~80% of the music for the Wallflowers album)- if you listen to opening single "Vortex", you may or may not realise until it ends that there is zero verse-chorus-verse-bridge/breakdown-chorus standard formula happening, & instead there is more of a feeling of taking 2 or 3 "motifs" & using manipulation of dynamics, syncopation etc to create "movements". Vortex took my song of the year 2021 for a reason, & I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
All the best from a random Jinjer appreciator in Scotland! :)
Just really enjoy your reactions
Who’s Gonna Be The One Live
It’s epic and fun
You’ll really love the musicianship in that one ✌️
the dueling guitar and bass is my favorite but so much good stuff
The drummer, Vlad, has a video up on, I believe, the official Jinjer youtube channel, where he plays Rachmaninov on piano, beautifully of course!
This is Vlad playing Rachmaninoff - ua-cam.com/video/HHdTmPDR9Z0/v-deo.html
"Teacher teacher" is another showcase of Tati's vocal rollercoaster layered on top of a fantastic instrumental base, with time signature and mood changes, carrying a convincing hook throughout. Don't miss that one.
I'm a bassist/guitarist. I would love to be good at percussion/drums.
Great reaction, glad you're back on Jinjer! They've cited musical influences to be Slayer, Pantera, Lamb of God, Gojira, and other metal bands, along with jazz and reggae influences. In this song, I feel like you can hear the Slayer and Lamb of God influences. Not sure if those were the sounds you were reminded of while listening though.
Don't need to do a reaction to this, but definitely check out the Perennial music video on your own time! This live performance is dope but I love all the details I can hear in the studio version (and the visuals are really cool in the video).
For my answer to the video question: I play acoustic guitar and clarinet very poorly 😂 I would love to learn violin/fiddle, piano, or samgomu (Korean drumming/dancing technique that uses three drums and integrates dance while playing them)
Great comment. Thank you for taking the time to entertain my thought in the video
4 minutes in: 3 drum references in "Oh hey, a five string"... yeah you can always tell a rhythm-based director.
🍻
Q&A: next to drums and percussion… in all about that bas😎
Another band I highly suggest : Opeth.
Jinjer loves this band
If you don’t know them, you’re about to fall into the deepest rabbit hole ever.
They’re SO various, hard to pick one to start with.
Maybe you should try : Harlequin Forest (audio version, or Live at Royal Albert Hall)
I am a drummer, but I would love to know how to play piano. I would love to get into writing music, and I feel like I piano would be the best thing to learn to help out with composition. Plus is just so damn beautiful. Loving the videos so far, keep it up man
Tatiana with twelve foot ninja- over and out something else to check out as a side step from Jinjer
If you like the bass and drums in this song, you should react to "Who is gonna be the one" live, its a masterpiece in bass n drums coordination
Go Cougs! Love the Jinjer reactions!
Go Cougs
comment before watch, bcz i saw you on Pisces reaction and i really appreciate it..
also helps the algorithm
🤝
This was the last song of their set which makes Tatianas performance that much more incredible! Check out Vortex, it's their new video, it's a great song!
Vortex next one!
Hello. My advice, look at the Slaughter to Prevent group.
Cool Russian guys make cool music.
Pay attention to the tracks
Demolisher
Baba Yaga
Made in Russia
And especially Bonebreaker live performance in Moscow 2022.
You won't regret it, the band is fire, the frontman is a devil, the drummer is a killer, the guitarists are monsters.
Great reaction again! Actually Vlad (the drummer) isn't able to play the piano much lately. The 3 guys in the band are in Ukraine defending their country from the russians. Eugene (bass player) put a video up here on YT before the war started and said they were in Kiev and so far as I know there has not been any updates on how they are doing. Tatiana is in California with her boyfriend?/husband? He is in a Metal band called Suicide Silence.
They wrote a song that came out in 2019 called Homeback that was about when russia invaded Eastern Ukraine and Crimea in 2014. Russia took over Crimea but russian seperatists continued fighting in Eastern Ukraine since then. The lyrics to the song are very powerful about war and wanting their Homeback. All of them except Vlad are from Eastern Ukraine and they all ended up moving to Kiev because of the continued fighting since 2014.
Vocals A+ obviously
Playing A+
People should really read the lyrics to this song.... Tati's writing is beautiful.
"WORDS OF WISDOM" same concert wacken
Played saxophone in high school, 1st chair wind symphony and section leader in marching band. Would LOVE to learn guitar or bass so I can quit my dead end career as a chef and start a death metal band 😂😂
I’d like to hear your reaction to vortex. Musically it’s a very weird song, but I love it
If you want to dive deeper into harsh vocals, the two top tips for a really deep dive are Slaughter to Prevail - Demolisher and Lorna Shore - To the Hellfire . Both singers are amazing in a wide range of different harsh vocal techniques
Please do Who is Gonna Be The One! One of my favorites live! It just pulls something out if you!
I don't know for sure but I think all the men are in Ukraine helping with the war effort. Tatiana is in California with her husband.
We get occasional updates on IG so we know they are still ok. Raising money for humanitarian aid and doing what they can.
Vlad can still play piano and there are a few clips. He’s very focused on drums now. He studied music at university. Has a degree in music. He took up drums in his last band zlam. He’s a talent for sure. He plays guitar too and wrote several of the parts for wallflower (album) on both guitar and drums.
They have some Megadeth tones going. Never a bad thing
Yes, Vlad still plays piano. In fact if you hop on over to their official channel you can watch him play Rachmaninov.
"Teacher, Teacher" or "Vortex", will give you a spin.
I'm looking forward to seeing that for sure
Guitar and wish I learned drums. Subscribed. Good stuff dude. And as far as talking too much... for me anyway... I've heard the songs a million times. I'm here for what you have to say.
Tony, you missed out last October. Jinjer was in Seattle at El Corazon. Here is a short clip from the end of this song: ua-cam.com/video/K2gGx0jE4O8/v-deo.html
Tatiana said the group has been inspired alot by Opeth!
The musicianship of Jinjer reminds me a lot of the Arabesque album Beyond the Veil from 1994. Only differences are a lack of overall heaviness and Tatiana's vocals rounding things out. Give them a try and see if it's what you're thinking of.
You gotta do "who is gonna be the one" live
Tatiana goes full on beast mode,,
Musician me plays guitar, bass, synth, guitar synth, I would personally love to have a mandocello or cello
He does play piano still. He has release vids on UA-cam.
I’m not a bid metal fan, but I’ve fallen in love with Jinjer. Their very progressive, rhythmic, and melodic which a LOT of metal lacks. And the musicianship of all 4 of them is top notch. Hope the boys are safe in Ukraine.🇺🇦
Also, Roman doesn't really get the biggest amount of praise in general because there are so many more obvious things about this band to latch onto but very honestly, that guy is one hell of a phenomenal guitarist and songwriter. His approach and technique are wonderful to watch and listen to. Their original guitarist leaving the band (also a good player and songwriter) really pushed him to become a top tier player himself
Vortex is a good song to continue :D
