Benedict's falsetto deserves a Grammy.
That took me by surprise, very well done
Yes!
OMG! YES!!!
wtf he's so talented 😭😭
when he sang oh pizza pie in the pizza sky i felt chills
Benedict's falsetto is on point, but when Bowen harmonizes with him at the end...PERFECTION
Nothing about this was perfection. It was the low point of the episode.
Bowen Yang is a treasure.
It was quite good.
@@xanderk84 To each his own
I can’t stop thinking about it 😂
BC's "pizza pie/pizza sky" chorus isn't just "good." It's hypnotic.
Deliver meeeeee
I cannot get this out of my head- on the subway, washing dishes, walking the doggo- it is haunting.....
hauntingly hypnotic!
@@sarahhowe2791 i have the same problem
There needs to be a legit recording of this song, I’d listen to the crap out of it lol.
I will *never* not laugh at how Bowen delivers the line "the eponymous rodent, Charles Entertainment Cheese". The guy's a master of his craft.
I missed that one, until after you mentioned it!!
@@richdelaney9500 one of my favourite lines!
💯🤣🤣🤣 Everytime.
The eponymous rodent, Charles Entertainment Cheese. Classic
Bowen is funny and was perfect for the sketch
The falsetto getting higher with each chorus was just perfection.
YES OMG
"Send Me An Angel" vibes
And this from the guy who voiced Smaug the dragon without needing electronic pitch-shifting!
Genius. 10 of 10 stars.
“Pizza is for winners. Tonight you starve.”
Games and sauce. Games and sauce.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The way he flings that card away gives me filthy quivers
RIP Indian Ridge Little League Team :(
Okay but why was Benedict Cumberbatch so good in this tho? Not only was he hitting those high notes, but his dance moves, and singing was mesmerizing. Could have listened and watched them sing and dance to this song forever. Cumberbatch is hilarious and one of the best SNL hosts hands down. Love when a host actually tries. He not only learned his lines, but acted them out brilliantly.
Agreed!!!
He's a professionally trained theatre actor and has been since the age of 12. It's always a treat to see him in this kind of setting because he almost exclusively sticks to tv and movies these days.
I love when he goes back to his theatre roots.
Same here. He's so awesome. It's just flawless how he does these skits. He's so professional and natural at this stuff.
It's in the genes!!!
10/10 sketch “Oh pizza pie in the pizza sky, deliver me. Deliver me.” is going to be stuck in my heads for days 😂
It's still stuck in my head two months later
@@sydgrim Same 🙋🏻♀️😆
It's stuck in my head a year later!
Benedict’s singing is bringing everything to these sketches. His pairing with Bowen Yang was comedy gold and adorable
If Cumberbatch could sing, why didn't he sing "Mr. Grinch" in 2018?
Bowen Yang plays the same character in every sketch. Not comedy gold.
Benedict went ALL IN on this one I loved it lol Games and sauce! Games and sauce!
@@olliefoxx7165 I don’t agree at all. Sounds like you hate him. Is it because he’s Asian? He’s the best new male cast member in some time. I am NOT Asian, that’s not why I like him.
@@briengakaplan-b1550 😂😂
I think if acting fails benedict should definitely go into singing LOL him hitting those notes dayummmmm
I love the idea of Benedict’s acting career suddenly failing 😂
He'd better be singing the next Bond theme is my opinion.
I am so disappointed that no one in my circle found this amazing!!! So I turn here to share my love for this skit…
Pizza pie in the pizza sky! Deliver me..deliver meeeeee!
@@McCl3lland Yes! I've been singing that all day, every day, since Saturday
You need new friends.
The idea was funny, good lines, Bowen was a good choice for it, Benedict brought great ideas for his character and went for it (of course).
Nice to see a sketch come together like this.
We got cha!
Cecily’s last line of“Cold linguini, Pepperoncini, where did we go wrong? Romaine is all that remains” SEALED this song for me. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this 😂😂
We are all that carrot.
There’s something about her bridge that was in every 90’s action movie. It made me think of The Point of No Return with Bridget Fonda and that movie with Madonna and Willem’s Defoe. Very dramatic. Lol
It's the subtle keyboard accompaniment that made it for me.
She's dying.
This may not have been a winner with the live audience, but this is going to be used in literally every SNL sketch compilation for the next 18 months.
I was howling at home and wondering why the audience wasn't reacting
Wow, “ literally “ everyone. Amazing not figuratively, but literally. I’m stunned.
@@davidj8658 A language’s purpose is to convey a message, they did that effectively by using it to emphasize their point. Language evolves, dude- let people use it

@@davidj8658 I meant what I said, show me one SNL sketch compilation to come out in the next 18 months that doesn't include a singing cumberbatch with doggy ears and I'll stand corrected.
Benedict singing is ICONIC. Those high notes!

Yeah I didn’t realize how versatile he was!
Imagine you're an SNL writer and your pitch is "80s new wave English band interprets Chuck E Cheese" and it turns out this freakin good
I like the way Alex Moffatt dances to the music
SNL needs to put this track on all streaming services. I want this to be my ringtone, my answering machine, my first wedding dance, and maybe the last song played at my funeral.

Easy way to turn this into a ringtone
🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍❤❤❤
I need what’s up with that theme so badly
Maybe?
What?? Haha that crazy
Benedict Cumberbatch dressed up as an 80s Popstar dressed up as a dogman in a suit for a gig at Chuck E. Cheese singing "the pizzapie in the pizza sky, deliver me, deliver me" in a falsetto-voice is something I never wanted but now can't live without!
I just had to give you the 300 like because I love your comment. Benedict is an "acteur."
Whether breaking Nazi code or singing at Chuck E Cheese, BC pours himself into every role. 🤣
I've watched this several time now and will many more, I'm sure. I can't take my eyes off him.
You are not even kidding! 😊
Omg it was amazing!!!!
@@dolores2716 Glad I'm not the only one who keeps popping into watch this.
Or playing a cowboy tasting Blue Bunny ice cream...
Cumberbatch was so good at this act he made the chorus sound like a legit hit song.
Agreed
He brings such a great level of creativity and talent. These sketches were all elevated with his presence. I also liked his performance in the Blue Bunny sketch.
Yes, it definitely is a catchy song, it could be a legit hit for sure!
This song, the "I Sent a Bottle of Sparkling Apple Juice" Bjelland Brothers song , and the "Be Our Guests" Disney Housewives demo song stick in my head 😅😋
I just love how this British 80s band fully committed to the chuckEcheese venue while keeping their artistic license
Also the “why do they have both?” line 😂
not enough people are talking about Benedict's character checking out Pasquale and then saying ''OH!'' like he just remembered that the audience were there lol 🤣
I laughed at that part when I saw it lol 😂
I laughed at that part as well. It was a small nugget that made this skit fun. I was stationed in Europe in the early to late 80's. When bands like this existed everywhere. SNL was spot on with the band.
@@vapsa56 This was Mike Myers-level stuff. It's tragic that the audience clearly didn't understand what genius this was, lol.

It’s Moffat and I know because we share the same last name
The joke of "not for children, but trying to be for children" will never get old. 😄
Sounds like a few things that were part of my childhood
For children and children of the mind
Wasn't there a skit on some show somewhere that was specifically explicitly about that concept? I have a vague memory of something like that. Or maybe it was something that was normally for kids but there were no kids around so they were like you can say what you want don't worry, and someone took it too far? I'm not helping I know
@@grumbles idk about the concept, but there was a skit with michael keaton called "Children's Show" that your comment reminded me of

Bowen’s harmonizing over Benedict’s falsetto at the end has me feeling like we missed out on a fully belted out version of this song
RIGHT? This could genuinely be a banger
Benedict and Cecily. Epic as always. This may be the best unknown new wave song I've heard in years. Benedict killing it on those high notes.
Full of 80s vibes deliciously decorated with Benedict's vocals👍
Benedict actually sounds like someone in that genre when he sings. Also we finally got to see Aristotle, for only a minute tho

I've just watched all of these Benedict Cumberbatch SNL clips and I've come to one conclusion: This guy is absolutely amazing and is so so underrated. What performance skills!
The song itself actually works really well as a late 80s synth pop parody. Giving me real Depeche Mode/Bronski Beat vibes

One of their best skits in decades
@@jxchamb They really packed a LOT of very specific stuff in here and kept it moving! Katie Carrot was stunning, lol. 80's music & weirdness was always a reliable well that both Mike Myers and Jimmy Fallon regularly drew from.
