- In this video, I wanted to share my starting point for the growing season. While January can be dark and cold, I got excited for Spring when I saw how many bulbs were starting the grow, and the new signs of life in my garden.

Catherine in the garden...... all is right with the world!!! Last year, about September, I started doing a monthly video of my garden. I try to do it about the same time (beginning of the month) and it really helps to know what you've done.... what worked, what didn't. I too, have some bulbs popping up and blooms on the fruit trees. Life. There is life and hope for what is to come. Sending you hugs from California! Thank you for getting in the garden today!!!!
Oh wow Debby well done 😍😍 your documenting sounds fab! So nice to have that footage to look back on for yourself too! Happy gardening 🤩
Robins and gardening always make me think of “The Secret Garden.”❤
As ever a breath of fresh air. Your garden is so cute. I to love seeing the hint of spring. I was excited last year when I planted my first bulbs, It is summer here in Melbourne Australia and the weather has been all over the place. days of 38 ect and this morning about 17 degrees and massive thunderstorms... But I love nature. I also took on two homeless feral kittens last night! I am hoping to tame them quickly and give them a good home.
Great to see this video posted. You're videos always brighten my day. Much love from Canada ❤️♥️🇨🇦
Aw Marianne that’s so sweet of you to say 😍😍 delighted to hear that and hope you enjoy xx
I had a robin that used to wait while I was digging for me to throw it any worms I dug up. It also came and sat on the handle of my broom that I was holding. I always take it as a sign of a past loved one visiting you. ❤
Absolutely true. The day after my darling dad died, a magpie started visiting me every day and warbles away while I garden (or just potter around). Most days here at the moment are just too hot to do anything more than mooch in the garden. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
And here I am with -23 Celsius weather this morning with a polar vortex descending on us, I can only dream of being in the garden. Watching this made me so happy!
Oh Doris!! Stay safe and cosy and hopefully spring comes soon xx
You’re so lucky you can be out in the garden. It is still so cold here but for now I can enjoy your garden so thanks for taking us along❣️
It’s so lovely to see you in the garden. Your story about spring makes me jealous. Today is not as bad but tomorrow will be -26 in the day and -31 at night in Ontario 🇨🇦
I'm really enjoying you walking thru your garden and telling us about it. Love it.
Aw that makes me so happy to know enjoy the garden video x
girl WHAT?? growth in January?? im over here in new brunswick canada buried under 2ft of snow and won't see spring flowers until late May 😭 I'm happy to see there's green plant life somewhere in the world, lol
Oh Dana! Hope spring comes soon for you 😍
I get very excited this time of year too ... all my seeds have been delivered and I've scrubbed my pots and root trainers, but I know I still need to hold fire. We are due at least three mornings of frost next week in the South East of England.
I have a robin too, he fledged very late last year, I didn't think he would make it, he was very thin, but with some patience I've got him used to me by feeding him about three/four times a day and his doing great and singing all the time! 😘🐤
My dad has Robbins and they watch and wait for him every morning because they know his morning garden routine and feeding time of the bird tables. I was visiting at the weekend and my bedroom window overlooked the garden and I was watching them in the morning from my bed.
Love my garden and I’ve not long moved so I have a new garden to start from scratch. ❤
That is so sweet Karen 🥰🥰
January is a bleak month but I have noticed things are coming alive already.great to see things coming alive
Happy Birthday Catherine! I'm still enjoying your sweet self after all these years of following you from almost the beginning! I'm praying Birthday Blessings over you, that all of your most dearly held hope, wishes and dreams be abundantly fulfilled this year! Love you Sweet Girl!
Awww, I appreciate that so much, thank you for sticking with me x
Ha ha ...10 degrees! We are at -30C for the past two days here in Toronto 🇨🇦. Your video gives me something to look forward to!! 🤗Thanks for letting us join you for your puttering around the garden..love it!!
Blessed Imbolc! This was a nice escape from my frozen New York world rn!
You're cute as a button and so is your garden. I haven't been following you for long, but I so enjoy your positive energy, I'll be staying here forever. I can't wait to see your garden in full bloom. 🌷🌻🌺
Aw I appreciate that, thanks for following along x
lové❤❤❤
I can’t wait for spring either Ms Catherine. You garden is such a joy to see in the spring. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
Aaah back in the garden...you know spring is on the way when young plants peep at you. I've noticed the dawn chorus is getting louder and every day there is feeding relay at my bird feeders...is happening 🐦🌸🌱
It’s coming 🤩🤩🤩 soon!! Thanks for stopping by xx
Yes!!! So glad you are back!!! I was hoping for a Sunday garden vid soon. 😃 Ya made my day, Catherine. 😊🌻🌸🏵🌹💓
I'm so glad! x
Imbolc for me signifies the midway point between the winter solstice and vernal equinox. I love it as I always feel at this time the days have become noticeably longer and we still have 4 1/2 months of them getting even longer !
Absolutely
Robins are cheeky little bloggers. 🌲🌺🌲
I'm living by procuration. Here it's double digits below zero. Can't wait to see live greenery here too. You came from a patch of grass to a full garden in the last years 😀.
Blessed Imbolc!! Enjoy the festival of Lights and the return of Spring!! Love your garden videos and wish it was 10C down here, Summer is still steaming on the coast of Brasil. I miss my Virginia, USA garden so much, especially when I watch you gardening.
Everything is popping up around your garden already.
Oh wow,,,,, Catherine thanks for sharing your beautiful garden. I'm in the US with very cold weather this morning we're 2 below but our days are getting longer ... Seeing your plants popping up has helped me out. Lol.. thank you
when my Dad would be rotavating parts of his allotment, the chickens he kept would follow him to eat the worms that were unearthed.
You might try adding brackets to your boxes to make them stronger. I really needed this video today! Come on SPRING!!!🌸💐🌹🌺🌷
My favorite can’t wait to see the beautiful flowers and fun projects again in the garden !
Pretty sure we've all missed you love. Hope you're well. The sunshine andnfredhxsir is so good for you. Spring is so close
sooo glad you are feeling better♡ im ready to get out into our garden and now i want to even more! daintycatvideo=inspiration overload!!!!
I just can’t tell you how your videos warm my heart ❤
awwww x
Robins are so sweet. I have an old stump covered in ivy in the middle of my garden and last spring a pair of robins built a nest in there. So lovely to watch them raising their little family in the middle of my veg beds.
Oh Valerie that is so cute 😍😍
Well we’ll have to say it’s cold here in Minnesota USA. It will be 20 degrees below 0 tonight with 50 degrees below windchill. That’s Fahrenheit. And two feet of snow on the ground. Anyway it’s cold. I love to see your green and budding plants. It helps to know there’s hope of spring. We can plant usually April or May outside. Keep the garden shots coming. Thanks for sharing. 💙🧤🌬️❄️
Camellias have the most beautiful scent.
How lovely for you to be able to do a little gardening in January. We're still covered in a foot of snow. Although we didn't have any snow accumulation till now. It's Feb 4th.
I live in Miami Florida we have only two seasons, chilly spring for a month or two, Spring for another month or two and summer the rest of the year!!! ha ha ha! I love how calming and refreshing it is to watch you - thank you for sharing your garden adventures!
Lovely to see you back in the garden Catherine.🌸
Thank you! 😊
This video was a nice lift of the spirits, thank you
I am currently staring outside to freshly fallen 15+ cm of snow and sitting at a balmy -9c after a few days of of -30c and lower weather. It will be another 2 months, at least, before any life starts returning to my frozen Canadian garden
Hello Catherine, it’s good to see you. I love your blogs. Your garden is very beautiful. Despite the withered plants, they look beautiful because we know that very soon they were going to come out new ones and that motivates us to continue in the garden. Greetings and blessings.
I so love your little back yard, it's the perfect size. Here in Australia I have a much larger backyard and it's barely used :(
I'm happy for your Spring because as of March 1st, we'll be in Autumn..... doing the happy dance!
Crimson red hellebores are the stars in my garden at the moment, and even though I love my evergreens, the colour is so needed now, I enjoyed the walk through your garden💖xx
It's wonderful to see you in the garden again. I am looking forward to seeing all of it come to life. Thank you for sharing.
Me too Mary 😍😍 ready for the spring now!
Hi dear Catherine.👋😊🐈 Thank you for the wonderful video. 🤗 I look forward to the flowers and the garden with you.☘️🌼🌷 I wish you all the best, may you be successful. 🍀🐞🌼💖 With love Maťa from Slovakia 🇸🇰💕
Thank you Maťa! 😊
Been meaning to sit down and binge your videos. Dealing with this terrible cough has been kicking my behind and I just can’t cuddle up comfortably coughing up a lung. Hoping you are doing better and stay healthy hear on. Love you back in the garden 🪴
Awww, get well soon x
How exciting!!! It is absolutely freezing cold here. It was -19 Fahrenheit this week in Idaho, USA. 🥶
Can’t wait for our spring to start coming! Thank you for sharing with us!! ❤💕
Hopefully spring comes in quick ♥️♥️
Hi Catherine great to see you back out in the garden again. On the green on your paths....I live in Ireland so I know how quickly moss grows on shadowed areas of the garden. I use vinegar on my pathways & paving. Pour it over leave it to do its job & the green grows back slowly. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you for giving us this video I’m not in snow but love your garden videos
Glad you like them! xxxx
Catherine, her in Ontario, Canada, I woke up to minus 23 degrees C.... with a windchill that took it down to minus 40. Your garden gives me hope. :)
Ouch, that is COLD x
My first day in the garden will be Sunday, I can't wait.
I was doing really well with my garden last year, until the scorching heat came, which made me really ill. Diabetes and heat do not mix! I'm determined to get back out there this week. I still haven't found a job ( I have a provisional offer, but it doesn't start til the last week in March), so I may as well utilise then time productively, how the weather is getting a little brighter.
Thank you, Catherine, for being such an inspiration. Lots of love xx
Yes, the heat got a lot of us last year, lets hope its not as bad this year, good luck in the new job when it comes xxx
Nasturtiums should come back as they drop their seeds, they’re lovely in summer 😊
And you can eat the flowers seeds and leaves ver good value plant nasturtiums taste a little peppery xx
Your garden is a credit to your hard work
Aww thanks so much Mairead ♥️
🥰Your garden is cozy, beautiful, thanks for the interesting video!👍❤️💐
It’s my happy place 😍 living for Spring time now! Thanks for stopping by Anna xx
@@DaintyDiaries ❤️❤️❤️
I am so jealous. I am in Ontario, Canada and we are at minus 14 with snow. You live in a lovely part of the world..why my ancestors left Ireland for Canada is beyond me!!
Ahhh, Catherine! It is good to see SOMEBODY having fun in their garden! Ours is presently frozen so, nothing happening for us. Carry on, I’m here for it! The garden is looking great!😊👍
thank you for showing us around. I'm looking forward to getting out in the garden again. Love seeing the Robins, I have one that visit's also, my favourite bird :) x
The garden time is nearly here 😍😍
As I finish watching this video a weather announcement came on the radio saying there’s snow squall warnings and overnight into tomorrow temps will reach -33 Celsius with the wind chill ❄️🥶 Here in Ontario Canada all we do during this next month is dream 💭💭😍of our gardens🤣😅
You are right, so much snow here! Spring maybe in April, if we're lucky🙃 But I do love our winters here in Norway. And it's time to order some seeds, so thank you for reminding me! Have to start indoors though ❤️ Have a wonderful weekend!
Your garden shows great promise! Mine is still sleeping under the snow.
Aw, the white flower made me think that maybe it's a sign to you from Blondie.
This makes me want Spring right now. We are getting a brutal cold tonight...-30C with a wind chill of -45. I can't believe it is going to be this cold. I'm in New Brunswick, Canada. Some other areas will be colder than this. You, My Dear, bring me some joy in seeing your garden starting to bloom. I look forward to that here in a few months time.
Love seeing little green sprouting. We’re in a polar vortex and temperatures are : - 32 Celsius and windchill of - 42 tonight. The weekend is supposed to be good though. Only - 17 one Friday. Heat wave 😂😂😂. Oh and it’s Groundhog Day today and 6 more weeks of Winter. Anyway loved the video it was great. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Love it, isint it so wonderful to see all the new growth at this time of year and the spring bulbs popping up through the soil, brings me so much joy! Hopefully we get a nice mild Spring in Dublin! Heres to the new growing season, happy sowing & growing! 🙂🌱🌷
I love your idea for the front of the house❤. Feel better and I’m really looking forward to the video of the front. ❤
Hello Catherine nice to see you out in your garden. Yes in Ireland Spring is February 1st. I'm subscribed to a lady who lives in the west of Ireland and she goes by the Celtic calendar and celebrates all the Celtic festivals. Here in the USA Spring is In mid March. We still have snow on the ground.❤
Spring will be with you before you know it Cathy ♥️😍
I’m in Florida where we garden all year it’s wonderful 😎❤️❤️❤️
Soil blocking is the best! I love the smaller block maker the best for most seeds. Plus the no plastic is great.
Gardener’s workshop has the best tips on doing soil blocking
Ah, Spring is on its way 😊 xx
That idea of lavender, sage and roses in the front garden sounds great. I will be looking out for it. 😀
Absolutely Yvette 😍😍
Once I've read a folklore that from child book stories.i know Europe more than USA,from my childhood reading.ive read vlog about cottage garden and hills... field of grass...and everything.
You must have very mild weather, I’m jealous
Yes, wet and forget. Brilliant stuff. Spray it on and leave it we use it on our patio never power wash it anymore
Yes! Almost garden time! My tulip bulbs are showing some leaves, so excited.
The tour of your garden was wonderful!
Here in Victoria, BC on Canada's Pacific Coast, we're looking to start planting around now too... Though we've been getting February snowfalls the last years 😕
Spring is around the corner Barbara 🤩 happy planting!! Hopefully less of the snow now so you can get back in the garden more! Thanks for stopping by xx
Lovely vlog Catherine, glad you're feeling better. I have snowdrops out, here in Hampshire UK, so Spring can't be far off 🤞🥰 xx
Yay snowdrops 🤩😍
So glad you are feeling better. Wow all those new flowers. Cant wait to see the colours🥰🥰🌷.
Me too 😍😍 so excited!!
Aww thanks for your beautiful uplifting vlog ❤really enjoyed it
It is so cold here and i miss some warmer weather. Happy spring🌷 Catherine. I am longing for spring. We have to wait a few weeks still😊..

Thank you Catherine for giving us this tour of your garden. I'm looking forward to seeing it come alive🌹
-16 Celsius here this morning..only thing growing outside my door is ice patches..so enjoyed seeing spring come to Ireland.
Living in Florida, we are the same..gardening all year round! I love it!
I enjoy your channel so much. I learn a lot & you inspire me to try a variety of things.
❤❤❤A fun putter with our Catherine!☘️
Love your channel but will save this video for closer to my springtime ( -40 C here) 🇨🇦. Will still watch your other videos! Love to see you in your happy place.
Days are definitely longer. Doesn’t get dark until 5:30 here now. 😃😃. So nice to hear birdsong in the background. Not hearing that yet here.
I can’t wait to see the spring garden blooming. I was so excited to see you posted a garden video! Thank you for sharing!
Eeeek me too 😍🤩
Ahh I’m still covered in snow and below zero temps. Love seeing some life in your garden! Gives me hope that spring is on it’s way.
It is indeed Samantha 😍 thanks for stopping by xx
Perfect timing Catherine. I was so happy to see the Spring bulbs I've planted with my children over the years start to emerge recently. Seeing the first snowdrop filled my heart with joy xx
I use soil blocks for everything Catherine but I do sprinkle seived soil on top of my seeds in the hole . It's brilliant ,no pots needed and you can plant lettuce ,spring onions ,beetroot straight in the bed .
As usual, I am now inspired to get out into the garden this weekend and give it a new year refresh! Thanks🤗
Enjoy Sally 😍😍
Always get my cuppa tea and enjoy your videos you are so inspiring. I look forward to seeing all that comes up in your garden this year. I live in Victoria, B.C., so we are lucky too to start early on our gardens a little early.
Looking forward to your next video. Cheers from Canada
Aw thanks so much Tina ♥️♥️
Great way to top off my evening! Yes, it’s cold and snowy here, but seeing your videos help remind me spring is just around the corner!
Spring will come quickly Jill 😍
Ah. Loved it.
Doesn't it just make you feel glad to be out in the garden! Bulbs a popping, buds sprouting, definitely springlike. I broke my blooming toe last week, so hobbling about....but I can still plan, get seeds ready, waiting for my seed potatoes and just dream of what's to come. Thankyou for a lovely video Catherine and I hope you feel 100% soon x
Hello 🤗 Catherine, it's sooo nice to see you in the garden 😊 n what a lovely surprise, that flower was such a beauty...(🌷🪻🪺spring!!!) Just got me a red rose bush n 6 red tulips since I missed last year's sale, I cheated and got them from the supermarket planted n ready to blossom...😉🌷🌷🌷 L0L!!😁
Oh tulips are just stunning aren’t they 😍😍
Tided my garden on Sunday as well, got rid of leaves and refresh pots, dead head roses and chopped back my kiwi bush
This gets me so excited to get working on my garden. I have a lot of hardscaping to do before I even get planting. I’m itching to get going! Couple more weeks and temps should be bearable.
