It was great to see another video from you! Mom and I were so impressed by Keiji's courage and persistence! We were also impressed by your support for him as you were in this wonderful adventure together! Can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you. 😊
Wow, Keiji is something! I climbed all 百名山 but never seen a kid climbed like Keiji. He should be proud of himself. Also props for the dad letting his son do the adventure.
Thanks Randolf, the fact that you have done the 百名山 is incredible. What an achievement. It's a lifetime of adventure for us to reach that lofty goal! 😀
Wow, Keiji was amazing! What incredible determination for a young boy of 10 on some really challenging climbs. 👏👏He'll be a hiker for life now. Nice to see a new video, Dean!
That was truly amazing, the best climb ever and the monkeys were the icing on the cake! You are both heroes. Nice to you see you back with content, can't wait for the next adventure.
Wow props to both of you for those climbs! 👏👏That was truly epic and a bear encounter to boot! 🐻 Keiji is a trooper, fueled by ramen! Great job guys! 👍
I was going to congratulate Keiji but really, congratulations to you both. One foot after the other and you gradually get there in the end. Then it’s time to look back and be proud. Or eat ramen!
Aaa man Dean these hiking videos of yours really make me want to throw on my backpack and go out for a climb and see these great vistas, but no such joy in the Netherlands. Instead I’m currently trying to figure out the logistics to walk the 500km ‘Pieterpad’ across the full length of the Netherlands during my coming weekends and these videos really throw extra fuel on that hiking fire. It’s so easy for a 10yo to just completely quit and mope/cry but Keji was absolutely bad ass to push through!
Thanks for the comment. Actually long trails are really attractive to me too, but much harder because of the amount of time they take. That's the beauty of it though isn't it, being on the road for weeks or even months. I'll add Pieterpad to my bucket list ;)
So inspirational, especially Keiji doing this at 10 years old. Dean, I commented in your Mt. Fuji video earlier this year with questions. You were kind enough to reply back. Thank you so much. I summited Fuji on 8/2 on a day hike. Took me 4 hours going up and 1 hour & 47 minutes coming down. I had to slow down because it's not good going too fast on high altitude. Wanted to do the Subashiri trail like you and Keiji but I wasn't sure if I could make the last bus going back to Gotemba. Ended up doing the Yoshida trail but still had a lot of fun.
Hi Tydrix, I'm glad to see you back, and I so pleased I could help a little with your summiting of Fuji! 6 hours up and down is very quick! You made it look easy 😁 The Northern Alps is waiting for you next! 😉
Great job Dean, you and Keiji are amazing! The views were beautiful and worth the climb, right? Really enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one. 💜
Thank you, Suzettes! The views make it totally worth it. To have overcome what we did, and experience all of that. I think it's something Keiji and I can treasure for life ☺
Well well they are back And you came back with a bigger bang, my oh my. You guys are amazing, very courageous, and pulled through, i thoughts its Mount Fuji fir a second. Scarier when you mentioned bear, in such a hill place. Good job guys 👍🏽👍🏽🍒
Thanks Toropetskii, make sure you comment again when you make it up there! I'd love to know we helped with a little inspiration for your future hike! 😁
Excellent, very good editing. We climded some 13 anr 14 ft peaks in Co this summer and i ended ip carrying my 10yo pack! We are headed to Shimonoseki October 8. Looking forward to being back in Japan again...
Dean! Man, I was wondering where you have been? Welcome back and also can't wait to see more adventure between you and your step son (Keiji) in Japan. Its good to see you doing video again and knowing where your next adventure partakes! Its you and John Daub (Only In Japan) my two favorite UA-camr subscribes to. :) You two should do some collaboration again in the near future!
Thanks for the comment! We are really well, just busy with life. Keiji and I both wish we could make more content 😊 I'll be sure to mention this to John. We almost did a hike together this summer actually. It's only a matter of time till we do something together again!
Dean another great video! The other day one of your old videos popped up on my feed and reminded me of your channel. I clicked to you channel page to see if you'd posted a new video that I may have missed on my subscription page but to my disappointment there was none. Today though to my surprise a new video! Keep up the good work. And tell Keiji to stop growing up!
I was very touched by both of you, facing these challenges together. Keiji is very courageous. Beautiful and very well captured adventure too! such a hard work. Congratulations for this beautiful piece :)
I was really worried when you guys came across the bear but you had everything handled despite how tired you were. I'm sure those Stations they set across the journey helped as a moment of respite. Excited for your next adventure! I won't ask when because I'm sure you're working hard at that, instead, how do you choose where you go? Does Keiji get to choose?
Hi Yojack! Glad you could see this one. Great question too! Mostly the locations have picked themselves so far. There was always a reason for going where we did regardless of if I made a video, though I LOVE making the videos now to share what we get up to. Keiji chose the last video to do ice fishing, that was a dream of his to try, I chose this one, a dream of mine to climb Mount Yari. I have it in my head this year that I will try a first very easy peak with Tao. He's just 3, and totally wild, so it would be madness but fun I hope 😅
Thanks Matt! There was an onsen right at the end of the trail at a place called Nakabusa Hot Springs. We didn't show the decent, but the ice-cream was from there :) No showers in the huts in the mountains though unfortunately. Come to think of it, maybe it was my smell that scared off that bear! 😄
It took me half a year to create a new video, but hopefully the wait will be worth it! Can't wait to hear what you think! 😃
Very cool, Dean! It’s wonderful that you created that kind of bonding experience for your son❤️
Thank you, Jason 🙏
Terrific adventure Dean and Keiji! You really proved something to yourself Keiji--you made us smile, and laugh, and care for you!
Thanks etherdog 🙏

Thanks so much carrerlluna66! We are delighted to be back too! 😀
Well that was one way to test your back injury. One of your best yet . Congratulations to you both 😍
What back injury ha ha! 2022 I could hardly walk and 2023 I climbed to 3,180m...maybe that's a story for another video 😘
You Guy's are Awesome , Congratulations .
Wow awesome. Keiji did great. Dad the pack mule though, well done. 👍🏻
Thanks Tigger! 😊
Wow props to both of you for those climbs! 👏👏That was truly epic and a bear encounter to boot! 🐻 Keiji is a trooper, fueled by ramen! Great job guys! 👍

Nice effort, I hope to be climbing these peaks one day too.

Ha ha. I'm glad you both were safe and had a great time. Some key lifetime memories created in that trip! @@runAwayJapan
Just by watching I felt tired 😅Fun to watch but I wouldn't do it unless a huge inheritance was waiting for me at the end.
Hi Marigen, the whole of UA-cam was watching, that was enough to get us over the finish line 😅
