I love how you can hear a few adult chuckles when Koopa (Chris Latta) says "I know where you live, Arthur." The clip itself isn't ominous, I think Chris just hit a good in between sinister and comical that makes it memorable
I mean, the entire thing is pretty awkward so it’s not really a mystery why they canned this segment/show. The line is clearly part of a skit. Chris Latta clearly wasn’t out to get the kids or anything.

@@betagemslostmedia607 I don't know how much of it is embellished - especially since it's clear that certain powerful forces simply had it out to destroy this show - but I was told prior that Koopa "sent terrifying threats" by using that phrase in response to negative fan mail. It's one of those things that needs further content to clarify, but it at least clear in this video that Koopa simply had it in his array of catchphrases and the times he said it were likely pre-scripted, not likely to be perceived as actually threatening by anyone other than Michel Eisner or other Disney media policers.

The extras ,who played various characters on those live-action segments on that other show, should've appeared in the final epsiode of "King Koopa's Kool Kartoons" as a group of policemen, who arrested Koopa for hijacking the TV studio!

Cobra Commander after he was mutated by the spores in different continuity gained a little weight and started to host TV show under name King Koopa (there is still alliteration plus King is close to Commander). ;)
As a kid I was so curious to see what Bowser would look like in live-action, but the Super Mario Bros. Movie let me down. This however gives a better idea of what Bowser would look like in live action. It's too bad Dennis Hopper didn't get his make up and costume designed as well as this guy!
Thanks, glad you like the channel! Almost every day, we screen old beta tapes from the stash of over 1000, digitizing anything we find worth keeping or uploading. The King Koopa shows were on some tapes labelled only "cartoons 1989" - turns out they have vintage cartoons tapes from various broadcast shows, including this one, which luckily got taped with the host segments intact. We're still going thru the tapes from that period and hope to find more Koopa, but it looks like the host segments were frequently untaped and only the cartoons got recorded.
I heard people say King Koopa saying I know where you live was off-script and is what got the original actor fired but with the dye coming out of the phone and everything I'm pretty sure that was scripted. It was probably the whole Biafra thing that actually got the actor fired.
The more footage I see of this show, the more it seems like it was only destined to be a local promotional series. Which is a shame. If they tweaked it to be some sort of twisted answer to SMBSS's Mario Bros plumbing segments, and used it to host the Mario and Zelda cartoons instead of that insufferable Club Mario drek, they might have been on to something.
