B4da$$ has more bars…it’s more poetic , introspective & the stream of consciousness lyrics & flows give it a genuine feel that felt like he was freestyling to get things off his chest…it’s a more hip hop purist kind of album in terms of the aesthetics, the lyrical content , flows etc he was clearly going through alot & he put it on that album but All Amerikkkan has more social commentary it’s more focused in terms of it’s subject matter….people just hate on that album because of songs like devastated….the beats sounded more commercial overall even the boom bap stuff sounded more polished & clean which isn’t a bad thing I don’t get the hate that project gets he was inspired by mainstream stuff like J Cole & Kendrick …..people want to keep him in a jazz rap & boom bap box but he’s capable of much more All Amerikkkan is different than B4da$$ but it’s just as good imo i prefer b4da$$ as well because it’s more of a purist kind of album but the singing on all Amerikkkan was better than on his previous albums , he was more versatile & he sounded more mature so i can’t say it wasn’t as good he just wanted to do something different …..2000 was a great album only song I didn’t like was the one with Chris Brown…..sure it’s not his most lyrical album but i like the more laid back nonchalant confident flows he has on there….people just expected more because there was a long wait between All Amerikkkan & 2000…….lyrically 1999 , Summer Knights & B4da$$ are enough to make him one of the best of his generation he put in the work….the hunger is clearly gone now his life is very different he’s an actor , model , father etc so I get why he’s not as hungry on the mic but he’s still rapping well regardless & Survivor’s Guilt is one of his best songs ever….i would’ve liked him to drop more stuff but I get it he went where the money was acting & modeling so I get why he took a break from rapping
Being from upstate NYC both Steez and Joey are two of my biggest biggest influences in music, and I’m ngl when Joey dropped the rulas back I was excited because he sounded hungry again, but at what cost…it sucks because the east coast shifted from being a staple of music to just straight drill music that sounds the same due to unoriginal samples and repetitive flows (no shade to drill music) in my eyes Joey took a fair route…but it was still bittersweet. 47
The Ruler’s back was good…beat is nice, flows are nice…he sounds hungry….but the whole west coast thing makes no sense….Kendrick , Tyler , Vince Staples etc have been doing there thing they deserve the praise while NY has been struggling since Pop Smoke passed NY’s most popular artists right now are people like Ice Spice , Lil Mabu , Fivio Foreign & Cash Cobain….the drill & r&b drill stuff has took over NY….NY completely lost it’s artistic identity trying to copy UK rap & Atlanta….yes some people have been doing there thing like Griselda but besides them the guys doing stuff in the underground are the same ones as 10 years ago there’s not really new faces doing their thing….NY hasn’t really brought anything new for a while everyone is copying Pop Smoke or they’re doing this R&B Drill / Jersey Club thing which isn’t from NY in the first place it’s from Jersey so NY is struggling right now….maybe if Joey focused more on hip hop instead of acting & modeling he could’ve been the face that NY needs right now cause besides Griselda there isn’t that much going in NY right now so I don’t get the west coast comment….when Jay said it…it actually made sense because NY was still in it’s prime but now NY fell off so it just seems bitter that they’re getting all the attention….thing is they deserve it….Tyler & Vince Staples have consistently dropped good projects…Kendrick got a major W with the Drake beef plus he dropped GNX…he even made Lil Wayne look like a washed up rapper over the fact that Jay who is a smart businessman chose Kendrick who is a great live performer, had a great year & who’s sober over Wayne who yes is a legend but he’s not a good live performer & he’s not sober….plus he doesn’t have recent hits like Kendrick does…..Kendrick , Tyler & Vince all dropped this year while Joey has not so why is he bitter that they’re getting the praise they deserve for the work they put in….Joey chose the money from acting & modeling over keeping his rap career consistent then he’s bitter when the ones who actually dropped music are getting praised….& that’s coming from someone who loved Joey’s stuff since I heard Survival Tactics
b4da$$ was the last time i felt joey was in his prime. the other 2 albums are good but he just had a different energy back then. His potential is crazy i just hope he stops that acting stuff and locks in and stays consistent
*Reads title, looks at my pfp* It's true. I ain't no OG Fan. I found 1999 and all of the Beast Coast summer 2016, but I know PEEP, 1999, AmeriKKKan Korruption, and several Indigoism cuts by heart. I bought AABA day one, and I was 16 and in high school. 2000 dropped when I was 21 and my tastes have grown by then. Too Lit EP was nice, and he just kept us waiting besides The Light Pack. Smart rappers use rap as a stepping stone for other endeavors. Rappers don't become as successful as Drake, Jay Z, Kanye, etc. by sticking to rap. I'd be willing to bet Joey Badass is more successful now than he's ever been, I wouldn't call that a failure.
I agree, he’s gotten into Acting and fashion. I think Joey just does his own thing whenever he feels like it with no obligations to prove himself to ppl. Which is honestly the best position to be in as an “artist”
Capital Steeze is the reason Joey blew up AND the reason why he’s never gonna hit his “perceived potential”.. Steeze actually was still looked at as the lead for Pro Era and Joey was the number 2.. I know it’s not the same but Joey and Steeze were basically OutKast.. But in this situation Andre 3k passed as soon as “SouthernPlayalisticCadillacMuzik” dropped.. So what happens is big boi doesn’t TRULY develop beyond his first “deep street” stage into a person who can make a “I like the way you move”.. Joey will be good just not great.. He doesn’t have a Steeze who’s better and he’s close to so it pushes him to be better..
@Will-bn9km Exactly.. Not everyone is the King.. But its nothing wrong with being the best knight at the table.. ALOT of people need someone to guide and drive them to get thier full potential..
Ski mask without X looks just like this too. Just wanted to slide that in because I also felt Joey felt a new lane/passion of having fun with music when he was kicking it with XXXTENTACION and rumoring to drop a collab tape with him after their 2 popular collabs
i've shared this sentiment for years. his drive towards the game 100% changed after Steeze's passing, and Joey, from our perception, looked a bit lost- as anyone would be. i'm just glad he found his roots in the places he loves most
Great video. I think odd future impact was too overwhelming for Pro Era to be considered in consideration. Capital steez death is on par with the death of asap yam. First off, I just wanna say this is a very well made video, as an up n coming youtuber myself I definitely respect you voicing your opinion in this way. Joey Bada$$ didnt fail to live up to his expectations, 1999 is a perfect album, B4DAS is a 9, All Amerikkkan badass is a criminally underrated album and is basically a mini TPAB, and while 2000 is his worst project it is still far better than average. I also want to say that I fricking love the west coast hip hop scene, Kendrick, Isiah Rashad, Vince, Tyler, and ScHoolboyQ are some of my favorite rappers. Joey revitalized the style of hip hop he grew up with and cherishes dearly, and has always been a breath of fresh air from the untalented "rappers" like uzi, gunna, future, yeat, etc. He is also so versatile, he can go very aggressive on tracks like 95 til infinity or pop-y on songs like temptation and like you mentioned he can really act.
Tbh... I've only started to put like way more effort in like 2 vids ago cause I'm back out of college and I needed to turn up but yeah... the editing change has been nice
Mike Posner wrote some of the biggest pop songs of the last 15 yrs but a lot of ppl considered him a one hit wonder... obvsly when ppl say Joey didn't make it they refer to it as a rapper not as an overall person

The great thing for Joey is that he's more than young enough to solidify himself now and go on to a long career at the top, I have high hopes bc he really is one of the greatest of this generation
Joey, Asap Rocky, Goldlink, & Vic Mensa for me all have a similar story. They really could've brought something new and different to rap but I don't think any of them wanted to "Be The Guy" like that. Before there were *many* different guys, Busta, Bow Wow, Ludacris, Jay Z, Lil Wayne & T.I literally all have their own fanbases that would go crazy for them regardless of what the larger audience thinks. Today's kids are so narrow and zoned into the same sh/t and being judgemental of everyone that there wasn't any space for the guys I mentioned to really thrive like they could. (Obviously with all due respect to XXX, Juice Wrld, Pop Smoke, Nipsey, Lil Peep & Mac. Lost potential to lost life cuts different)
Tupac was born in New York and wasn’t raised in New York came to Cali around highschool between Baltimore were he went to school with Jada pinket he was definitely gamed up in Cali the bay to be exact
a large chunk of his childhood was in New York. he was 13 when he moved to Baltimore & was 17 when he moved to the Bay so… yeah he kinda did grow up in NY.
@ funny then why wa Amy family with him when he was raised in the bay ? Big Joey fan here and I can speak for all of us when I say! He doesn’t rap as good as he use to. He got that Nas effect where his first project/or 2 is his best work! Like his lyricism took a extreme dip!
With the 2000 project it felt like media pressure seeping in but also for better or worse Joey is maturing to a different type of person. Rakim & Nas are the same with essentially the same values till now… neither is wrong or right thou.
I’m not talking about you but I’m seeing in the comments a lot of people talking about Joey clout chasing etc. with his new song. These people are going against what k-dot has wanted and aimed for. He’s bringing the competition back into hip hop and I’m all here for it. The song wasn’t even a direct diss it was just to remind the public that he’s back and ready. I think it’s good that a few shots can be fired across a few songs
Joey may appear to have fallen off...but if you listen to his interviews and songs it's clear that he does not believe this. He legitimately considers himself to be one of the great ones. And now he is setting out to prove it.
I’ll say this here! The East Coast needs a new sound besides the boom bap and NY Drill. Something different like how ASAP ROCKY brought in that cloudy psychedelic rap. Maybe mix the boom bap with cloudy, psychedelic to it, but the East Coast been lacking for years and left behind in the music era.

Joey was one of those cats that reached his potential and success real quick (off his 1st project), therefore it was really not much pressure on him to reinvent the wheel or anything since he was already in a comfy spot and knew what his fanbase wanted. On top of that, the rap soundscape switched heavily in the mid 2010s... Which basically meant that the new listeners coming into the genre were more interested about trap and social media bops than the previous generations... If the soundscape didn't switch so heavily, Joey's music would probably be in higher demand, but since it did, he remained stuck in a niche. Also, his early success meant that he could divert his focus onto other things beside music like entrprenuership, acting, family... Still, despite all that, he remains pretty solid to this day (which is almost 15 years in the game at this point, which isn't anything to scoff at. Longevity ins't easy in the rap game)... especially if you don't look at him holistically, but compare him to artists that provide similar music... type of music he . I think the biggest criticisms of him is that his music can be kind of 'samey' and stale too often, and that he far too often defaults into 'braggadocio' bars, which become boring to listen to after 10 songs of the same thing about being the illest rapper and copping all the whips... I actually miss a time where Joey would rap about these more abstracts concepts and bars focused on double entendres and stuff. Stuff that made you go back and listen a couple of times to notice what he's saying because he conceal the meaning in a clever way... Now the bars are about as straight forward as they get for a rapper...
If you ask me, success is seen in the dedication of your fans. The points made throughout this video are valid, if we're looking at measuring success via awards and music charts. At the same time however, we have to consider the impact he's had on different rappers and how much he influenced them. There are very few people who can match Joey's lyricism and adaptive style, therefore making him, one of the greatest.
Downfall…? he’s an actor and he owns businesses, he’s doing fine. we gotta stop using the phrase ‘downfall’ so loosely. He is a young multimillionaire. Not everyone has to have the same status as Drake to be considered successful. Drake is successful but he still sucks by the way.
Joey, even if he musically fell or don't fell off, is the main person that makes me think about the East since I was a kid He's like the face of 10s and current east I'm 21 and watched this man grown throught mtv soo pardon me in case
nothing wrong with being cocky especially when your in any art. the issue come when u wear it on your sleeve and dont express it as confidence but as what it is cockiness. it never ends well. anybody in NYC that hung around the studios knows what happened.
Joeys music reaching millions withouth mass appeal or huge major label promotion is legendary. Hes the leader of independent rappers. Hes only second to co signed rappers and big major label rappers.
Joey is very young and still has potential. Do not forget Kendrick was 37 last year when he did what he did. Tyler the Creator bloomed later in his career, J Cole started to pop with 2014 FHD. Joey has the time to dominate New York Hip Hop.
i think consistency has a big thing to play in his career, especially when he was getting more mainstream attention. maybe it was deliberate and he didn’t want to be that “famous”. nonetheless like u said he still has classics and i rather him have a solid discography (albums) then be mad consistent and have a few trash albums in the bunch. hope 4 one this year tho
Wasted potential? Maybe. Downfall or downright failure? Absolutely not. He still made it big in the rap game without selling his soul, he has at least 2 classics and his music will not be forgotten. Compared to Kendrick, J.Cole, Trevis Scott, Future or even artists like Asap Rocky, Mac Miller, JID etc. he surely has made less of an impact, but he's still in the like 5% of people who made it and fixed his life doing what he loves the most. This is outright success if you ask me.
It was hard for Joey coming up he was looked as a young Nas and when I say that it’s because when nas 1st came into the scene he brought hip hop back to life it was very generic and commercial at the time he changed the game made rappers step they lyrics up he was a savior of hip hop in a way. Joey was the same thing but in a different era but the problem about that specific era was that lyricism was slowly going away and he was looked as the only one who can bring hip hop to its roots. In that time we had Drake future young thug Travis Scott etc too much going on for him to come in and change that and people excepted that from him. I feel like that much pressure from fans kind of fucked him up as a creator cause it’s never enough for fans plus steeze dying right when he got big must of been tuff for him
The reason why Joey isn’t as big as he should be is cause he prioritize his acting career over his music career. But I don’t blame him, that acting money goes way longer than rap money.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Nobody could ever touch Joey. His absence is proof his music lives longer. An active Joey is an active volcano when it blow it spit lava. But it ain't always gonna happen.
Give it another 10 years, hip hop is dominated by children these days... or rather childish lyrics and content... the resurgence of adept (adult) rappers is coming... my generation is getting tired of the saturated sounds and meaningless lyrics. We're leaning heavily into benny, con, even sauce w.... even curren$y and Larry are in a parallel lane. Kendrick and Cole are already goated for this reason and I Joey has the potential to be one of the most balanced both lyrically and content wise as he and our generation matures
Your opinions are wild af. Steez was great at the one purposehe had. But the people arent gonna have the same mindset as steez. Steez only had 2 topics love and getting woke. Joey had many angles to come from. He embodied big L and nas. steez was like guru. But overall the artistry was better from joey
Steez was hella smart for someone who had just graduated high school. I think with his outlook in life he either would've went too deep into spirituality or rly would've been one of those lupe fiasco type voices
Joey releases good music and makes enough off that and the acting to buy a nice house out in the sticks. seems like a success to me. hopefully this next album is his TPAB, and justifies his claim to King of NY. if anyone could be the East Coast's answer to Kendrick on an artistry level, it's probably him. billy woods and Mach-Hommy are too avant-garde for general audiences.
Y ppl keep thinking Joey ain’t with it I love Kendrick one of the best but Joey is a secret nuke man he may not have known how to mainstream himself but he is like Gohan lol he has so much power he just don’t know what to do with it lol
I don’t feel as if he feel off the body of work he dropped in his teens has carried over as timeless music in my opinion and seeing he was able to create a collective of music with a group also was very influential in my teens as far as groups ProEra was up there he just was just doing side quests which is acting that he is very good at. He’s a person of many talents as far as up there with J Cole and Kendrick maybe not but he’s definitely in a higher tier than most

His latest album 2000 was probably his most personal and he seems to just be doing his own thing and not really caring too much about going mainstream anymore. He still has a lot of potential and could easily drop a classic some time this decade.
Yeah I find it odd people are counting joey out like his career is coming to an end or something. I think it's because he came up around that Kendrick, Cole, Drake, early 2010s era and people associate him being older but in reality he's the same age as guys like Denzel, jid, carti, etc and I think he still has more in him
B4da$$ is wayyy better than All amerikkkan lyrically
Having more bars doesnt make it a better album
Being from upstate NYC both Steez and Joey are two of my biggest biggest influences in music, and I’m ngl when Joey dropped the rulas back I was excited because he sounded hungry again, but at what cost…it sucks because the east coast shifted from being a staple of music to just straight drill music that sounds the same due to unoriginal samples and repetitive flows (no shade to drill music) in my eyes Joey took a fair route…but it was still bittersweet. 47
Steez was so raw with his punchlines
💯
According to online sources he’s worth 7 million dollars and he’s not even 30 yet. That’s the epitome of success.

It's true.
Even before 2024, seeing that Diddy feature on The Baddest gave me a bad feeling back in 2022 lmao.
LMAO... i went back to my review of 2000 and i didnt even mention diddy being there. But yeah, those mixtapes were fire, STEEZ on like water snapped so bad
Ab-soul is 47 for life beefing would make no sense
The editing goes crazy hard.
love from Berlin
I noticed a pattern \ trend where dudes are coming outta nowhere with a diss or some shit & then following up with somekind of album or some rollout.
to be fair... thats the way dissing has always worked lol
@ sometimes it work sometimes it don’t. Usually when it just comes completely outta nowhere it doesn’t work cause it looks desperate
He doesn’t have a Steeze who’s better and he’s close to so it pushes him to be better..
lowkey he needs a sensei
@Will-bn9km Exactly.. Not everyone is the King.. But its nothing wrong with being the best knight at the table.. ALOT of people need someone to guide and drive them to get thier full potential..
Ski mask without X looks just like this too.
Just wanted to slide that in because I also felt Joey felt a new lane/passion of having fun with music when he was kicking it with XXXTENTACION and rumoring to drop a collab tape with him after their 2 popular collabs
In the words of the great Khabib, I agree w/ this
i've shared this sentiment for years. his drive towards the game 100% changed after Steeze's passing, and Joey, from our perception, looked a bit lost- as anyone would be. i'm just glad he found his roots in the places he loves most
Joey just wasn't the same after Steez took his own life. Don't blame him; that changes anyone.
STEEZ didn’t kill himself tho
Great video. I think odd future impact was too overwhelming for Pro Era to be considered in consideration. Capital steez death is on par with the death of asap yam. For both joey and rocky to ever hold music domination. We can’t all make it to the top. It’s a competition always has to be more losers than winners. Looking forward to future videos
I haven't watched in months, but the editing and the enthusiasm has made the videos way better, keep it up man❤
Tbh... I've only started to put like way more effort in like 2 vids ago cause I'm back out of college and I needed to turn up but yeah... the editing change has been nice
Pretending like Joey Bada$$ “didn’t make it” when he wrote the highest streamed rap song in the history of Spotify is insane.
Mike Posner wrote some of the biggest pop songs of the last 15 yrs but a lot of ppl considered him a one hit wonder... obvsly when ppl say Joey didn't make it they refer to it as a rapper not as an overall person
@ ghostwriters get paid more than artist… by far. he’s also up there with Nas & MF DOOM in Spotify listeners
downfall? wth are you talking about? lmao
the public perceives joey as someone who "fell off" but i dont, that was the point of the video
Plateau
@@KingBennyI don't know anyone that's said joey fell off even online. People just say he left music which is not falling off. By that logic has Rocky fell off too?
@@viz683 nah ngl its popular discourse. i see it mentioned at least once a month on hip hop twitter and other spaces, so i get the reason why he mislead the title a bit to get those specific people to pay attention
Many people have said joey fell off and yea rocky did too he basnt dropped music in 6 years and his last album was heavily criticized (i liked it personally but still)
The great thing for Joey is that he's more than young enough to solidify himself now and go on to a long career at the top, I have high hopes bc he really is one of the greatest of this generation
Joey bad is still dope in my opinion way better than most new school rappers...
Tupac was born in New York and wasn’t raised in New York came to Cali around highschool between Baltimore were he went to school with Jada pinket he was definitely gamed up in Cali the bay to be exact
he was very much raisd in ny.
a large chunk of his childhood was in New York. he was 13 when he moved to Baltimore & was 17 when he moved to the Bay so… yeah he kinda did grow up in NY.
@ funny then why wa Amy family with him when he was raised in the bay ? He was born in NY went to highschool in Baltimore and in the Bay Area jungles to be exact before he moved to Oakland yes his family was in ny and the east coast and as I said he got his game in the bay out of his own mouth real 80s baby here my boy
He got bullied in nyc lol
@ and then he bullied nyc in the end I don’t get it lol 😂
No worries, westside gunn and Griselda are the kings of NYC/Buffalo
you not lying lmao
Westside gun king of nyc? Uhh no lol benny is way better thats first and he cant be king of nyc hes from buffalo ny he upstate nyc dont claim buffalo as nyc cause its not lol
Big Joey fan here and I can speak for all of us when I say! He doesn’t rap as good as he use to. He got that Nas effect where his first project/or 2 is his best work! Like his lyricism took a extreme dip!
I do think he doesn't rap as good but he's still sharp... not on this last song he released tho ngl
Let's hope he does the same as Nas and brings it back like the Kings Diseases and Magic Mixtapes
With the 2000 project it felt like media pressure seeping in but also for better or worse Joey is maturing to a different type of person. Rakim & Nas are the same with essentially the same values till now… neither is wrong or right thou.
Look! It's engagement! Take that algorithm!
Earl sweatshirt is a couple months older than me and joey a couple months younger. Those 2 sound like people I went to school with. They feel familiar
Joey may appear to have fallen off...but if you listen to his interviews and songs it's clear that he does not believe this. He legitimately considers himself to be one of the great ones. And now he is setting out to prove it.
S/o summer knights. The tape nobody talks about. At least for me I have more memories with tht than 1999. Just me.
Nobody has talked about Joey this much EVER yet this is the time Y'all pick to say he fell off 🤣🤣🤣
Uhhhhh cuz he was clearly clout chasing for attention? Duhh. This will be forgotten about in a week or so
joey has a feature on XXXTENTACION's "?" album which is the most streamed rap album in history. 🐐
the title of this shit is fried last 2 albums was fire.
In what world is Bada$$' rap career a flop? Real ones know that this boy puts in the work
I’ll say this here!
Pittsburgh emcees got that east coast sound you talking about. Be on the lookout
New york sets the standards period lol say w.e u want nyc created hip hop we the best period boom pap will always be the best type of rap music ny drill is horseshit only kids listen to that junk it dont count thats chicago shit but nyc has the best rappers ever period dead rappers included
I wonder what Joey's career would've been like w/o Steez passing
Summer knights mixtape is so underrated alsooooo
the beats on that album are soo good
idk what happened to Joey on that mixtape, he was ON POINT that whole tape in the bars and the beats, he was really on that “The Ruler’s Back” energy
@@phaizell4143 it's the high expectations
16 years old. 1999. But his later wor still better than rappers newest work.
i can tell this man has elite knowledge because he pulled out feelin it and had heart of the city in the background
If you think joey is a failure than i wanna be failure too lool because joey is dope and he used music to become a dope actor. Yall internet ppl actually super lame
i didnt say he was a failure
congratz on hitting 50k benny!
no hate bro, but this is bullshit, the dude is one of the best of the best, downfall, maybe commercially not as big as kendrick or drake, but joey is the nicest dude around rn
Downfall ??? Joey is thriving lol
Ahhh bro made it to 50k congrats 👏🏽
Thank you!
0:23 whats the song right here?
christ conscious
I still rock with him. We all know he can rap way better than what hes been delivering lately tho. Lazy pen.
True. 1999 & Summer Nights Joey is GOATED
@EARLARTWORKS facts, best entendres in the game.
I love the editing on this video ❤
If you ask me, success is seen in the dedication of your fans. The points made throughout this video are valid, if we're looking at measuring success via awards and music charts. At the same time however, we have to consider the impact he's had on different rappers and how much he influenced them. There are very few people who can match Joey's lyricism and adaptive style, therefore making him, one of the greatest.
Congrats on 50k
thank you sir
Let's get our boy his plaque.
Earned a sub :)
I still wonder where Joey would’ve been if he signed with Roc Nation that’s something I’d regret forever.
2:14 that switch of beats was imo so downgraded never was a fan of it.
If Joey is a failure I need to start failing more 😂🤣
Great video man.
Babe wake up it’s the new king Benny Garcia video
Downfall…? he’s an actor and he owns businesses, he’s doing fine. we gotta stop using the phrase ‘downfall’ so loosely. He is a young multimillionaire. Not everyone has to have the same status as Drake to be considered successful. Drake is successful but he still sucks by the way.
As a new york rapper I loved every second of this breakdown
my king badmon joey will never fall off.
Joey, even if he musically fell or don't fell off, is the main person that makes me think about the East since I was a kid
He's like the face of 10s and current east
I'm 21 and watched this man grown throught mtv soo pardon me in case
😭😭I loooooove Joey. He is in my top 10 idc idc
He didn't flop like that, you kinder overdid the flop thing, like mindbending bro
nothing wrong with being cocky especially when your in any art. the issue come when u wear it on your sleeve and dont express it as confidence but as what it is cockiness. it never ends well. anybody in NYC that hung around the studios knows what happened.
Joeys music reaching millions withouth mass appeal or huge major label promotion is legendary. Hes the leader of independent rappers. Hes only second to co signed rappers and big major label rappers.
That whole New York era was fire and original
Ahh that j Dilla beat at the end. I remember recording a song on it years ago. Still on my channel too. Beautiful memories
Imo This year could be the Renaissance of his rap career. He's been catching alot of eyes more than b4
Just because he's not as popular doesn't mean the quality of his music has declined. He still puts out great music
I stand with Joey challenging the West Coast..... Hip Hop as they say is all about competition...... So he is keeping it alive
Lord sko the closest in the new school to remind me of Joey young cat w crazy flows and signature sound
I don't think music wise Joey fell off
Joey is very young and still has potential. Do not forget Kendrick was 37 last year when he did what he did. Tyler the Creator bloomed later in his career, J Cole started to pop with 2014 FHD. Joey has the time to dominate New York Hip Hop.
Cole started blowing up with Friday Night Lights
Why did u mention j Cole 2014. That was 10 years ago
i think consistency has a big thing to play in his career, especially when he was getting more mainstream attention. maybe it was deliberate and he didn’t want to be that “famous”. nonetheless like u said he still has classics and i rather him have a solid discography (albums) then be mad consistent and have a few trash albums in the bunch. hope 4 one this year tho
I feel like that much pressure from fans kind of fucked him up as a creator cause it’s never enough for fans plus steeze dying right when he got big must of been tuff for him
Weird how both Steez and ASAP Yams passed away.
The revisionsim about NYC ISNT suprising they had an agenda...
The reason why Joey isn’t as big as he should be is cause he prioritize his acting career over his music career.
But I don’t blame him, that acting money goes way longer than rap money.
why is there a random clairo instrumental in the middle of the video 😭 i fw it tho i love clairo
clairo my girl fr fr
2000 is a great album too
Joey is one of the greatest rappers of the past 2 decades
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nobody could ever touch Joey. His absence is proof his music lives longer. An active Joey is an active volcano when it blow it spit lava. But it ain't always gonna happen.
dont say that joey is still out here
joey still one of da greatest imo
Give it another 10 years, hip hop is dominated by children these days... or rather childish lyrics and content... the resurgence of adept (adult) rappers is coming... my generation is getting tired of the saturated sounds and meaningless lyrics. We're leaning heavily into benny, con, even sauce w.... even curren$y and Larry are in a parallel lane. Kendrick and Cole are already goated for this reason and I Joey has the potential to be one of the most balanced both lyrically and content wise as he and our generation matures
Sayin capital steez was a big lost onmmm Rip bro fr
Your opinions are wild af. Steez was great at the one purposehe had. But the people arent gonna have the same mindset as steez. Steez only had 2 topics love and getting woke. Joey had many angles to come from. He embodied big L and nas. steez was like guru. But overall the artistry was better from joey
Steez was hella smart for someone who had just graduated high school. I think with his outlook in life he either would've went too deep into spirituality or rly would've been one of those lupe fiasco type voices
Joey is embodiment of the phrase: "He peaked too early" Nothing he has done after 2015 can top B4DA$$ and everything he did earlier was just as good
All amerikkkan badass was his peak for me
Joey releases good music and makes enough off that and the acting to buy a nice house out in the sticks. seems like a success to me. hopefully this next album is his TPAB, and justifies his claim to King of NY. if anyone could be the East Coast's answer to Kendrick on an artistry level, it's probably him. billy woods and Mach-Hommy are too avant-garde for general audiences.
I think it's awesome that you shout out j dilla in like every video lol
I have to... he's my outro music
@ he's an absolute legend
Y ppl keep thinking Joey ain’t with it I love Kendrick one of the best but Joey is a secret nuke man he may not have known how to mainstream himself but he is like Gohan lol he has so much power he just don’t know what to do with it lol
I don’t feel as if he feel off the body of work he dropped in his teens has carried over as timeless music in my opinion and seeing he was able to create a collective of music with a group also was very influential in my teens as far as groups ProEra was up there he just was just doing side quests which is acting that he is very good at. He’s a person of many talents as far as up there with J Cole and Kendrick maybe not but he’s definitely in a higher tier than most
Rest in peace KING CAPITAL 47
