    Nice hunt. I use Gaia GPS to mark my locations but, I only use it when I find something of value like jewelry, silver coins and older coins.

      Yeah I think for this permission, I'm looking for areas where they could have dumped their trash but I will def log all the good targets.

    Great hands-on tutorial Scott. Can see the app as a tool for mapping a relic or battlefield site. Does it allow merging multiple hunts or importing from other phones? Ooops sorry about that!

  • @CavemanDigz

    Seems like using this app takes valuable time I could be using to dig targets.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      I guess that depends on what you consider valuable time :-) I've been on this permission a bunch of times so for me going back over it again and figuring out where I've been and what I found is worth its weight in gold for the next time I go there.

      @@MentalMetal when you’re out with a buddy and he’s not using the app digging more targets then you lol.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      I guess... but if he is on my permission and I know where to go to find targets, I think I might have the edge here, but I'm obviously not here to convince you of using the app so I'm not sure why I keep responding LOL.

      @@CavemanDigzit has a mode where you can share hunts with friends and also see where they hit in the field. See finds in real time from across the field. Obviously don’t log everything. I’d only log certain patterns like where I’m finding wheats, silvers, period stuff, and log permissions with address/phone in the actual map. I logged all of my silvers, IHPs, and notables in the app and have a quick reference of where I found targets if I’m planning on going out. Wish I had this when I started one of my CW permissions so I could see patterns in where I was pulling targets in a field. After 15-20 CW period pieces pulled - would be awesome to see patterns and try to located areas of interest. Using that approach - you may actually become more successful then traditional grid approach.

    People say they don't need it, but as a guy that has been detecting for many years there are some key finds that I have ,but not sure where I got them over time. Was it that one there or was it that one there. Some I have in coin holders with the general location, but not exact.
    The hunting here in in small areas within jungle growth most of the time.
    Trying to think back is hard now that I want o get back into it after a few years away from these spots. Thanks for the info...You are my go to unbias guy to go to
    now. Boy wish we had this 20-30 years ago

      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      Yep I wish we did too, while I think its a cool and fun app to use. It could be better. I appreciate the unbias comment, that means a lot since that is what I try to stay away from the 1 company concept here on my channel.

    Cool app but not for me. I already carry enough on my hunts to deal with. My time is always limited and that would be something that takes too much time to have to do. Need 3 hands lol. I like the accupoint though. Seems like a good one. Enjoy your content Sir.

      Thanks man, it actually doesn't take much of your time if you push everything without editing what you find. Its nice when you don't have a lot of time and want to log the target ids for when you return on the next visit. I'm using to find the old trash dumps on permissions I've too, logging all the target ids and go back to those concentrated areas to see what is actually there.

    Nice vid. How did it alarm when out of boundary? Useful to keep you in the box?

    Initially figured not worth the time. Towards the end, when you showed where you’ve been, I also noticed swaths that were missed. What seemed like a time waster at first appears could be a time saver for subsequent visits. Maybe not for every hunt, but for sure for those “special” spots. 👍

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      Yeah I do agree, I won't use this on every hunt but for ring finding and places you can return to and log what and where you found stuff is nice.

    Good afternoon. Is the new Nokta Accupoint worth the investment? Currently have the Garrett carrot but I do like some of the new features with the Nokta. Thank you!

      It's definitely easier to set up and configure. I like it. It's not as sensitive as my XP Mi6 and MI4 pinpointers but I like using it.

    That straight line is when you had to go do a #2.....wish that app was available 10 years ago when I actually use to find good stuff....it would be nice if your target boundary box would be a different color

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      Ha funny. You can make the box a different color. I've been doing more w/it. That was really my first run with it. There are some weird things going on w/it yet. Hopefully it will get better. But its fun to use.

    I have noticed the gps being very jumpy and not so accurate

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      I think it depends on your 4G or 5G signal strength. I've seen it track really well and other times not so well but I did notice my signal strength was spotty at one site.

    This is exactly what I ask about was battery life being used up on your phone. It's been doing the same on my phone. If out 6 hours or more you better have a solar powered charger. Lol

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah it will suck it down to about 60% in about 2 hours of use. It probably depends on your phone and what you have opened up too.

    I think it’s good idea but has zero support, I subscribed to the pro version which wasn’t bad at basically 10 dollars a year but I only have access to the standard options. Did 4 request on the app for support and notta. I will be canceling it but for 10 dollars was worth the try. Fail in my opinion.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому

      Interesting, I paid for the premium service (whatever that is) and I can do everything (save to the cloud, edit target info etc.) so I'm not sure why you had those problems.

    My app freezes up non stop. I deleted it. Takes up too much time.

    • @MentalMetal

      I would try loading it again but if you think it takes too much time, then maybe not worry about it.

    Nothing good on the 70s? That's been over if my good numbers. I've gotten a gold ring, a few war nickels, broaches, silver earing, and some other good stuff. But ya is good numbers for pull tabs can slaw and junk.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  10 місяців тому +1

      I think what i said was that I have never dug anything good in the 70s (for the most part) not saying you can't but in the fields I hunt its usually junk. Dig it all to be sure.

    • @MD-NWWI
      @MD-NWWI 10 місяців тому +1

      @MentalMetal it's all good! I know what you mean. I usually dig it all for a little while. But by lunch time the 70s get old digging ring pulls and rifle casings. But yes you are right. It's mostly junk in the 70s
